If normal GH is still punishable on hit and you don’t rely as much on his SPDs are you still really playing Zangief?
Well at least is he still “good”? Hopefully my copy ships today.
Just tested because it sounded too good to be true, and holy crap this works really well actually
Like, almost full screen on reaction well
j.hk crosses up in corner
From memory lp greenhand and EX greenhand are -4 on block. Lp Green hand is -2 on hit. MP and HP greenhand are worse both on block and hit, and I recall MP greenhand being the worst, which seems kind of random.
Its about that.
Greenhand on block:
Jab: -4
Strong: -8
Fierce: -6
EX: -4
Greenhand on hit:
Jab: -2
Strong: -6
Fierce: -4
EX: Causes ground bounce
did anyone keep trying to activate final atomic buster with punch buttons before looking into the command list and realizing it was kick buttons not punch that activates his super art…
Any good characters to pair with Gief? Trying out Ken and Kazuya.
Rufus/Gief is a stupid good team that my friend and I have been playing a lot in doubles. Basically anyone who gets in easily owns with gief, because the first character can set up a combo easily, tag into gief and then Gief gets oki without having to work for it.
If jab greenhand is -2 on hit and most of the normals are slower in this game then that seems pretty safe (unless lp srk has a 2 frame startup lol).
I have been playing Ryu with Zangief but I am not entirely sure of how much synergy is there. It setups for some great damage, but I feel like I have two different characters with two different goals. I like to be lame though
I don’t think you know what you’re talking about. So every single person who uses El Fuerte, Akuma, Viper, etc. are frauds by default? You’re right, Wolfkrone and Tokido are such scrubs, they can’t play “solid” so they rely on gimmicks. Vortex can be loosely defined as mixing your opponent up on wake up. You score an untechable knockdown and then go for a mix up, which if it hits, will go into another untechable knockdown leading into another mix up.
This concept is central to the “grappler” character archetype. It’s been that way since 1991.
Zangief is not boring nor is he crap in this game in fact i bet he scares more people than any of the other grapplers in this game
So you’ve changed your mind then from your earlier posts or have you gone to Hugo?
Tokido and Wolfkrone both don’t rely on the vortex. Obviously there are vortex-centric characters in fighting games and to not use those facets of the their gameplan just doesn’t make sense. But if you can’t win with your characters footsies and spend the majority of your matches fishing for a random sweep, ex seismo, or ex Greenhand then yes you are a fraud and you will get blown up when you play against someone who actually understands defense or how to force players to play footsies.
How do you think someone like Wolfkrone beats players like Ricky or Justin who have characters with outs like EX messiah? It’s not through a mindless vortex where he rolls dice on his controller. It’s through solid footsies and reads in the neutral game. That is what separates top players from people with enough execution to play a character with a vortex. It has been that way since 1991.
I’ve not played with hugo too much so maybe i have to play with him more but he seems harder to play as than zangief
I never said that footsies weren’t important. You need a good neutral game, a good push-pull game in order to set up a vortex in the first place. The best players are the most well-rounded players.
**My First Day BnB Combo **
** DMG: 500**
** EX Bar: 1**
In the Corner, Jump In:hp:, cL.Standing:mp:, farStanding:mp:, Standing:lk:, xx EX :qcf::lp::mp:,(green hand) cL.standing:mp:, cL.standing:mp:,cL.standing:mp:,
xx :lp::mp::hp:(lariat)
You can Do Splash in this combo to start but you will do 490 dmg.
last night i tried to raw tag Gief in, but accidentally did the double team activation (cross assault i think it’s called?).
so Gief comes in controlled by the AI, and the first thing he does is a full screen flying power bomb (the 360+K). but since my opponent was about to block my jump-in, they actually got caught by Gief. i was very happy with him. pry wasn’t worth the 3 bars though.
Cool stuff. We could do with a thread for stuff like this as long as someone was prepared to maintain it.
Need some tips for a friend of mine please qoute this post when helping.
im relento, what combo should he use in the corner? after he tags in off my rekkas (3 spinning poll attack thingy ma jiggy)
how can he use the 3 bar cross art after my launcher?
i have him tagging in after every time i get the my rekka’s off, so far we got him doing mp mp hk as a simple attack, what more can we do?
