FFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUCCCCCCCCCCCCCKKKKKK, yo.
I guess we’ll just look at it different ways man. I’m not trying to convince you, there is no right and wrong here. It’s just different opinions. You have things that you say that are true, as do I. It’s just we don’t agree.
Who are “these guys”? Because plenty of people know that they have near zero chances of winning the big tourneys but still end up coming to it and “donating” to the pot money just for the experience of playing in it. That’s the biggest difference between eSports and the FGC, one of the biggest reasons why MLG failed was because they failed to understand that. I can see IPL failing too if they are slow to understand what that makes the FGC tick, closed tournaments with qualifiers is something that’s likely to limit their level of “success” greatly.
Cept your simply wrong here bro. How many teams went to MLG for Halo? Do you know? How many people go to MLG for Starcraft 2 in the open brackets? Just because the attendance is capped and isn’t as big, doesn’t mean people don’t go for the experience. But hey, how would you know…I went to MLG Meadowlands in 08, no chance in hell for winning with my team in Halo, still played. Still had a great weekend. Am I just donating to the tournament organizer with no chance? I guess. But I did it because I had fun man. You’re no different than me. We just went to different tournaments.
IPL will be just another event… with not much hype unless they fly internationals over
get over it
am i like the only one who does not really care for these people or rather care what they think
because i just like fighting games
someone sounds grumpy
This right here, this fucking statement right here ladies and gentleman is the fucking truth.
You shouldn’t want big sponsored events because it gives more money to the top players, or lets them “live” of their earnings. Who the fuck are they to you? If FG are your passion, nothing can beat the poverty format the FGC has right now. There is absolutely nothing that big companies can bring into the fray if your passion is to play against others and grow as a individual within the community.
The only people who benefit from these large sums of money being potentially injected into it all are the top players, who have been winning and will continue to win, who decided to take advantage of the revitalization of their type of games. Or large tournament organizers who can walk away with more McRib® money for themselves.
The only benefit you lowly peons will get is being able to see your “favorite” players play on a big screen for more money in a flashy non poverty super regulated room where its them on one side of the room, and then you.
As long as IPL events don’t collide with regular events it’s good news. We know the FGC can stand on it’s own if this falls through anyway.
