iPhone/iPod Touch gaming

Here’s some questions…

Favorite RPG?
Favorite RTS?
Favorite quirky/weird game?

I can’t wait till Iphone OS 3.0 is released.

I just want rRootage to have sound and vibration feedback. Oh and some kind of saving system would be nice too.

I highly recommend iDracula. It may still be .99 cents. It’s a top down Smash TV style shooter in a gothic setting with you staring as Van Helsing fending off Dracula’s monstrous hordes.

I downloaded Time Crisis Strike Lite from the App Store to my G4 then tried to get it into my Ipod Touch but it can’t. So I guess it’s not compatible. Has anyone had this problem. I’d appreciate some advise.

What happens? You hit it to start it and after load it just comes back to main menu? If so:
Uninstall it from your Ipod, Reboot your decide (Hold the top button down for 10 seconds) and then put it back on.
If your issue is transfer then I can’t help you there.

Couple of new games to add:

Catch-a-mouse: a free little puzzle game where the objective is to trap a mouse on a hex grid with traps before it reaches one of the many mouse holes. Great fun especially since it’s free

Geo defense: it’s a tower defense but with geometry graphics. Fucking gorgeous looking and a really nice challenge. It gets hard…fast. only 0.99$

So I’m assuming we’re not into the jailbreaking here and basically about legit iphones/itouches correct?

Not a game, but what apps can display and edit spreadsheets like Excel? It’s make working much easier for me. A PDF viewer would be great, too.

I’m not sure that kind of talk is allowed on the forums since consoles have a no mod/roms/emulator rules.

Damn, understandable…i like to spread the wealth to other SRKers…because free apps own paying for them…

I’ve thought about jailbreaking before but after waiting so damn long for redsn0w I gave up and realized paying a couple of bucks to encourage the small companies isn’t a bad thing.

You have a 2G or 3G…because it unlocks it too…I have a 2G on T-Mobile…and I’d rather go where I go to get them free to preview them at least instead of spending money then hating it…

Cooking Mama is excellent and indeed just like the DS version.

Touchgrind is an incredible skateboarding/fingerboarding app. Definitely worth the download.

I think it’s a neat idea for the iPhone to be able to go in to the “DLC” world but if you’re going to have to pay for downloadables for things that are fundamental to a game then that’s messed up, at least for those certain games. I know not all games will be like that, though.

Yeah, I think Apple or someone close to Apple mentioned that people on the Touch have to PAY for FW3.0… but everyone would have to pay for app/game upgrades.

Now that would be fucked up.

Anyway, a few other games I’ve been playing:
Flight Control
Wolfenstein
Bookworm
Biggest Brain
Rastamonkey

Yeah Touch owners have to pay for the new firmware. Sucks.

How is Biggest brain? I’ve been considering it.

Flight Control = addictingly fun
Wolf = never liked it on PC
Haven’t played bookworm or biggest brain
Rastamonkey = annoying and not fun at all…IMO

Ripple is mellowing
Qik is a nice streaming video app
Swirly MMS is badass, sending multimedia owns…
Twitterriffic nice
iSteam gets the ladies…lol
osu! is fun as hell…ddr on roids
ddr-s is nice too
lastly shazam, sportstacular and crayon physics finish out the hotness

Vans Pool Service sucks balls. Not like real skateboarding, hard to control, weird graphics and physics. No sound effects, only loud annoying socal pop punk music.

damn. and i just paid to upgrade my touch too. i have the 1st gen. double sucks for me.

Geodefense is the shit. .99 till tomorrow. Try out the lite version!

Here are the games/apps i run with and mini reviews

as far as games go i have…
Live Poker
Awesome online poker game. Kinda glitchy but good enough you can sit at a bar and play it when you are bored.

S.deadbeef
For long bus/car rides where I need to get my shooter on.

SimCity
Not that great but I paid for it so I play it sometimes. It’s kinda too involved and I’m not gonna sit in my room and play games on my phone when my 360 is in the other room, but good for if i’m out of town or something.

Lux Touch
Risk on your phone. GGPO to most of the other games… I play this game the most. It’s not online but at least it’s free and I can stop a game and pick it up whenever I want. Good for when I’m bored bartending or something.

Tap Defense
Addictive game for short periods of time. I haven’t played Fieldrunners but this game is pretty hard and does me right.

Solitare
Classic. you just need to have it. (girls love it)

I dunno i don’t really hardcore try and play games on my phone but those games get me through when I need them. Risk on public transit is the shit.

Apps I use
Backgrounds
Facebook
Pandora
and USA TODAY.

USA TODAY is mostly for weather tho, as it’s 5 day forecast is better than the iphones pretty useless weather app. What the fuck is with that anyway? Why would I ONLY want to know what the temperature is like RIGHT NOW? why can’t they give a longer forecast? it’s not really a forecast if it’s not in the future, where the root word FORE comes from. ok I’m ranting… whatev

Anyway, I’m definitely gonna check out some more of these apps…

I’m looking for a good addictive app that I can level up in but that’s not puzzlequest or some super in depth RPG. Something I can pick up and do a couple battles in and put back down… any suggestions?

Get rid of the USA Today app and just get The Weather Channel’s app. More info than you honestly need (10 day forecast and severe weather alerts)

peggle is the shit.
