iPhone/iPod Touch gaming

For those who liked Zenonia, FGD entertainement is working on a similar RPG:

Hopefully Dungeon Hunter gets updated soon, I just finished Hybrid and need something else.
Speaking of Hybrid, as much as I complained about how hard the game was, the last fight was a letdown. It was much too easy. Now granted, I don’t think the game would’ve been so hard if I had found out this game has Origins of Life (like Zenonia did).

Curse Apple for their goddamn 3.1 firmware. Pretty much rendered my 3G useless. Phone keeps locking up, battery drains way too fast, and worst of all, my phone “loses” its carrier signal even tho I have full bars and the “3G” icon are present on the screen. I’ve missed countless calls and texts, and haven’t been able to go online because my phone won’t get a signal, and when you go to make an outgoing call or text, they won’t go through.

I got sick of restarting my phone 4-5 times a day just to make a call, so I found a way to “hack” the phone and re-install 3.0.1 firmware on it since itunes won’t let you. Works like a charm now.

The Apple forums are lit up with the issues.

Did anyone else have issues with the 3.1 firmware?

No issues with 3.1 on the Ipod touch so far.

Dungeon Hunter is back in the App Store. Get it!

Ghouls and Ghosts for Iphone!

Super KO Boxing 2 is out: $4.99

I just bought it so I’ll give my impressions tonight or tomorrow.

Also Robocalypse is on sale for $2.99.

It’s a really well done RTS for the iphone with a quirky storyline and really nice graphics (oh and a sexy scientist with big cans).

Edit: whoohoo I just hit the $175 spent on Iphone games mark.

ah man, sucks I missed the sale but I had no idea DN3D was on the iphone so I’m buying it at $1.99… what a deal for an amazing game. I’d rep you if I could lol.

edit: dang, reviews for the 3G are bad, saying the frame rate is unstable (apparently not an issue on the faster 3GS).

It seems games tend to run smoother on Ipod Touch than Iphone for some reason. I don’t know enough about hardware to know why.

I played some Super KO Boxing 2 in the bus and I love it. It’s basically Punch Out for the Iphone. It’s easy to get familiar with it, it looks great, the opponents are all quirky, weird, characters like Punch out. All in all, totally worth the 5$.

any good RPGs that are turn based
more D&D and less zelda?

i dont like to play active games on my phone

Look up Elven Chronicles.

zombieland is pretty fun

beverly hills zombie 90210 is fun but really short, only 3 levels. took like 30 minutes to beat

family guy sucks and is short. beat it in under 20 minutes

Trailer for SEED by Chillingo;
Looks like a great RPG coming

I’ll update when I find an ETA for this game. I’m psyched for it.
It’s weird how I am NOT an RPG guy in the least but I’m really enjoying Iphone RPG’s.

The SEED trailer definitely looks interesting.

Hey Valaris, know of any good Tactical RPGS on the iphone? Something similar to Final Fantasy Tactics where your characters level up skills based on jobs and fight in a turn-based system that uses grids?

Off the top of my head I can’t think of any but I’m fairly certain there are some. I’ll get back to you if I find some.

Hey, I’m new to the whole iPhone/iPod touch thing. Got a question: if I were interested in using the iPhone or iPod touch purely as a games console, what device should I get? I’m looking for the cheapest one I could get.

The touch. If you have a cell phone and already have a data plan, maybe the iphone? I only say maybe cause att makes you pay for the $30 iphone data plan if you go that route. I already had att, and I already had a data plan so my bill only jumped $10 a month over my previous phone plan. You buy a touch and the only money you put into it after that is games/apps/music/etc. A second gen iTouch 32gb might be the best if you wanna jailbreak and all that jazz. Anything after fw 3.0 isn’t jailbreakable yet, and may not be ever. I think the same goes for the 3rd gen touch as well.

The touch also apparently has a slightly more powerful hardware. I prefer the touch simply because I use mine only for games which drains the battery, if I had to use that for my phone as well I’d get much less gaming time on my battery life.

iBlast Moki on sale for $0.99

Duke Nukem 3d on sale for $0.99

how much do you get out of your battery life anyway? the intensive games i’m lucky if i get much more than an hour.

some of the mini more casual games maybe 2-3 without charging

battery life is kind of pathetic when the screen is on at all times

Chain Rxn is finally on iPod Touch/Phone with facebook support. $1.99. Chyeah.
