Iowa: Maize of Defeat

Again, I’ll refer you to posts from others to display my issue. Look at Klaige’s response specifically. Was his first response to let the world know that he wasn’t attending because of the game list? No. In fact, like an adult, he asked if the list was permanent and gave two games that might be considered and reasons for such consideration. I’m not going to sit here and go through Reading Comprehension 101 with you to explain how presumptive and self-serving your post was, nor will I walk you through how paper-thin both of your “explanations” for your initial statement were; you’re smart enough to know what words mean, implicitly and explicitly.

What I will say is that either you’ll own your words or you won’t. It’s really up to you. I’m certainly not mad at you, it’s just exhausting that I have to deal with such passive aggressiveness, and I want it to be known if you have an issue with something, specifically as it pertains to MOK, I’m more than open to discussing it, but beating around the bush and trying to wink, wink, nudge, nudge your own importance is a waste of time and immediately drops how much I value your opinion.

TLDR: If you have something to say, just say it.

Ok, here’s what I have to say: If you really thought my first post meant to be condescending, you really don’t know me anywhere nearly as well as you think you do. I really truly didn’t mean anything by it, so stop making a big deal out of nothing.

lol, man, I don’t even know how to respond to that. It’s definitely “a big deal” because it has to do with respect; I don’t know you and that’s why I’m pointing these things out. If you really don’t think that declaring to everyone that you’re not attending my event and then proceed to NOT tell me what it is I’m doing that is preventing you from joining in on the fun… then you are a whole new level of arrogant and I feel sorry for anyone who calls you a friend.

I seriously typed that first message in like 2 seconds. If you really found what I type offensive, then sorry, I really didn’t mean it that way.

Cedar Rapids is a bitch of a drive away, but I’ve been there on numerous occasions.

I’m going to grind it out in Marvel and try my damnedest to go, hell or high water. Who knows? I have my personally built PC that I could stream with. I might have the equipment I need by then. I do intend to get some for my personal use, so I might finally have the stuff I need by then. Just need a couple of hard drive upgrades, a capture card, and a few other things.

Either way, I’ll go be a pot monster and hang out with you guys at the very least, assuming things work out. I really want to get involved with some people who take this stuff as seriously as I do.

Edit: Woah, Xiang. I got the same vibe as you about his original post, but he’s explained himself. Tone’s not exactly the easiest thing to convey with text and I can certainly understand where he didn’t mean to come off the way it looked.

DBQ Weekly Tournament Revival #1 (6/26/12)
UMVC3
1st - M.C. (Cap/Thor/Ryu)
2nd - Corey (Nova/Hulk/Sentinel)
3rd - Adam (Zero/Doom/Vergil)
4th - Olli (Zero/Spencer/Task)

Been around two months since the last time we had a tourney in town. Even though we only had four people, each match ended up being pretty entertaining, with last-second comebacks or incredibly close time-outs all over the place. Tourney was 3/5 all the way through, as it seems that’s becoming the standard and it’s good to get used to the longer game. I know longer sets are my own personal demon in nearly any game, especially since I tend to play mid-tier or low-tier, so I do encourage anyone not used to it to go with that so you’re ready when you hit larger tourneys that run 3/5 instead of 2/3. (Ask Alex how many times I’ve beaten him 2-0 in Tekken 6 only to lose the next 3 straight.)

Also (as stacked as that team looks), props to Adam for sticking with a new team when the chips were down against me in WF and Corey in LF.

I think we’re just gonna start meeting at my pad on Tuesdays from here on out. With an average of 4 or 5 people each week, it’s a lot easier to just set things up here rather than pack up each week.

Are you purely MvC now? I was curious if any of you guys are gonna be on the Tag bandwagon when it comes out. Even Alex, maybe…?

I’ll get it, but I dunno if we’ll get competitive with it. I’ll probably just learn Jun/Asuka/Kuni and that’s it. Alex hasn’t played with us in months.

He’s really KIA to the whole married-with-children act, huh?

Pretty much. We haven’t seen him in like 3 months. :frowning: Are you gonna still be doing monthly tourneys at BZ, then?

Also, finally got around to listening to the VGF Asuka podcast. I like how a lot of people tell me I’m a moron when I say what I’ve said about her since T5 (i.e. she sucks, her punish game sucks, she can’t make you duck, she has no “whore-out” move/gimmick, girls (especially Julia) kill her but she has decent matchups oddly enough against Craig and Bryan) and then the guy that won MOK with Asuka says every single thing I’ve ever said about her.

Yeah, I still will. July is going to be a bit tricky not only because Evo but I know Joker’s also doing his thing, too. Might have to wait until early August for the next one, but I am still planning on doing them.

Not sure who said you were a moron, but what I knew of Asuka trey pretty much confirmed, so I’m in the same boat, lol.

Mostly Mateo. But he says that about everything I say anyway. :stuck_out_tongue:

I’m sure he’s just salty because trey can beat him, lululululul.

As long as I can qcf2 for 60% I will pot monster in tekken.

Just a quick heads-up to anyone in the area for next week: we won’t be doing a tourney/gathering on Tuesday, 7/3, due to 90% of Dubuque being down by the river for the fireworks. I won’t be among their numbers as I’ll probably be home, so if anyone randomly wants to play something I’ll be here, but there won’t be any official gathering or tournament.

If Tag 2 is anything like 1, netsu CH clean qcf2 = damn near death. It actually used to outright kill some characters, but they did away with varying lifebars.

I’m not sure how much I’ll enter at MOK2 (if anything). Mystery takes attention. Might enter VF5 or UMVC3 if things get done in a quick-like fashion, otherwise I’ll just play casuals and/or money matches afterward.

Well, if it helps at all, all of the other tournaments do take priority of Mystery. That tournament isn’t something you can really plan for, per se, while the others people actually practice and grind out sessions on a regular basis, so I don’t feel bad holding up the Mystery tournament to make sure the other games run smoothly. So, if you are up in something, we can always put that on pause.

As soon as I can come up with the money, I’ll be preregistering for UMvC3 and the Mystery Tournament.

can i pre register and pay for the games day of?
