I’ve been saving up to build a second PC that’s focused on streaming. If I ever get involved with any of you guys, I could see what I can do about getting some matches online.
Hey guys, really want to go to UFGT this year and I want to see if anyone wants to carpool down. Not too keen on driving myself and I only want to fly down as a last resort. I’ll split gas/hotel with you.
I thought I was the only one, totally forgot about this thread until today.
People will play what they want and everyone has their own opinions. I like both, but I like Marvel more because of my Vs. background. Not trying to start drama or anything, but weren’t you the guy at the first few Cedar Rapids monthlies that said you loved Skrull? If you hate marvel then why is you avatar Skrull?
Edit: I have been dying to get a stream going at some local Iowa tourney or casuals session, commentary and all. I will most likely be going to UFGT.

Depending on where, I’d be down for moving the monthlies to something like that. When I first started them last year, we did them at a bar on Sundays. I like bar setups, but because it was on a Sunday (and was kind of a shitty bar) a lot of people couldn’t show…
…which brings me to the next monthly. PowerUp is the weekend of the 13th (as is Joker’s tournament), and there are MTG events both Saturdays after that, so the next monthly has to be on a Sunday, unfortunately. The 22nd, to be exact. I’ll post up the thread as soon as I get home.
Also, I’m going to UFGT for sure, although I’m not 100% sure on how many people plan on carpooling with me. If you guys can organize something yourselves, I would recommend that, but once plans start to get finalized, I can let everyone know what’s up and how many spots we have.

sfxt may be silly, but i am having fun with it. Which is saying something since the only games i have fun with anymore are ones very few around here play (Garou, yeah kevin is dumb as hell but he can be dealt with, Last blade 2, HNK, Gear, 3s), some other random ones. KoF is about as good as it gets for fighters nowadays i think. Till Gear drops anyway. That’ll probably be all i play for a while. Random post at 6 :45am.
If i ever manage to get a weekend off i gotta try and hang in des moines again. or make it out to some tournament.
Also random but for whatever reason MK9 is very popular in the tiny town of prarie city. And i get to run tournaments for it every monday night at a local computer repair shop/ wi-fi hot spot. Mainly cause i’m the only person here that has any arcade sticks but at least i get paid for my time. Game is silly but fun.
Charlie you still using the black stick/tentacle monster? if not i may need it back for a bit.
Today is the one year anniversary of the day I was almost run over by a horse and buggy. Just throwin that out there.

Oh yea before I forget, several of us from Des Moines won’t be able to come if this is held on a Sunday. Obviously it’s your event and you can run it however you need to, but I really think Sundays are a pretty rough day for events and you might want to consider just waiting till the first week in May or something along those lines.
Also the horse-and-buggy thing isn’t even an April Fools joke, it actually did happen.
Yeah, I figured that might be the case. Unfortunately, there’s no other Saturday that would work for April. I’m perfectly fine holding off until May for the next one, but we’re still penciled in for the 22nd.
For those who would be able to make it on the 22nd, what would you rather do? Wait until May for the next one or do it on the 22nd? Either way, we’ll still have a monthly in May, and it might even be that first weekend; the question is more to figure out whether it’s worth it to run anything in April.

Should be an ok day for a mini tourney. Although i might be getting my wisdom teeth out that weekend. Dont know yet for sure. Do what you must and i’ll show if i can.
Worst April Fools day ever…

Speaking of which, same time and place in Dubuque this Tuesday. 6:00, UMVC3 first ($3) and KOF13 after ($2 unless no one plays ;_; ).
Yeah, I was that guy. Not sure what else to say.
Pretty sure most of it depends on if ppl will drink and eat or not. The bar wants the people but not if they’re just going to hang out and sit there so I don’t know if everyone would be down for that. I know, from the past times at the bar at the first tournament I went to, that no one really wanted to drink or eat. So I don’t know how well that’ll go over. I know two things: 1.) it will be on a Friday evening or a Saturday afternoon/evening (based off of demand and avail) 2.) I want it to be awesome, so that’s the hardest part.
As far as plans for that barfights I’ve got a ton. I’m not the best at playing the games but I know what’s hype so I’ve got some ideas. For example: possibly some exibition matches in older games with money prizes. eeeh? anyone interested?
In regards to UFGT:
Hey, hit me up on FB with some carpool details. I’m sure I can help out as long as you get me dates and stuff. I’ll bring my friend Jake, the dude who got second in that one MK tourny. He’s pretty good at SFxT and a few others so we’ll be wanting to go to UFGT depending on the date. I know I’m going to EVO this year so if you guys have plans… I’m most likely getting my own room at a casino because my dad has a lot of comps in Las Vegas. Also probably flying allegiant because they’ve got dirt cheap flights.

Actually, most people bought drinks and food when I had it at the bar. Not everyone, of course, but at least half of the people that showed up usually got at least a soda; however, because we were doing Genghis rendezvouses at that time (something we haven’t done in a while), many people held out for that. Also, I know there’s at least a few people that joined us for those just to drink and watch, but they didn’t enter. I can name at least three people I know that would do that, meaning we’d be able to provide drunkards who would run up tabs.
That being said, I can think of a couple of issues that were of concern to me at the time, things you might want to think about:

How much is a basic bar burger basket and such? Gamers aren’t picky eaters, but they are picky spenders. If it’s not cheap, they won’t buy it even if they are hungry.

How much space does the bar have to offer? Let’s say you get a good turnout and games run into the 6 or even 7 o’clock hour. Big-time bar crowds won’t be out until 8 or 9, but you don’t want to be bumping elbows with them and fighting for space. Shit never goes well, I promise.
FYI, for UFGT, my ride is full. Although, I did get a reservation through Hertz Fri-Mon for $90, which is a good deal, so if you’re looking for a rental, I would advise there unless you have coups somewhere else.
man I gotta see where the funds are at. I would love to go to UFGT…Those infinity gauntlets are kinda silly looking though
