The main difference is that the Surface Pro tablets can run any windows app just like a laptop would while the Surface RT can run apps from the Windows Store only.
I said MS Surface Pro, vs Windows 8 tablets that are cheaper than the MS Surface Pro. The example Samsung tab I own is completely multitouch, Wacom pen compatible, runs any legacy PC software that works on full Windows 8 (whether it runs well is another story). Bought mine new for $500. Not talking about Win RT at all.
Maybe that’s why Surface/Windows 8 tablets aren’t selling well, because there’s so much confusion over what it is exactly.
This. Now that Google is showing their true colors, I really want MS to stick around to keep it in check. So far I really like the Surface: the RT was a blunder, but they should really work on that line (the Pro, that is).
Is it true that the X360 was a flop? Considering that PS3 was abysmal, then who the hell made any money in the last generation of consoles? I kind of agree that the new generation lacks a true selling point: if I’m not a graphics whore, why should I care? All they do is to rise the cost for developing AAA even more in a world where they are expensive enough.
That said each of the 3 are having issues because as a whole the market has shifted and isn’t what it once was 10 years ago. Yes there’s more gamers than ever playing but the value and worth for each game has changed. Furthermore consumers are choosing their smartphone as primary sources of gaming now as well as social media for accessing such games.
Sadly due to this the big companies are pouring in so much money for trivial options that do nothing to enhance the gaming experience.
After the crap Microsoft pulled with XBOX One, they deserve to get blacklisted. Still, everyone who is a gamer should hope for competition to exist and even though Microsoft would make more profits by diverting its resources away from XBOX, you should all hope that there will be an XBOX Two.
Windows 8 is also a complete failure, with a huge downgrade in both performance (masked by upgrades in hardware) and functionality, and for the stuff Microsoft did and continues to do they should just go out of business. I can’t even blame Microsoft because people are so dumb they will buy it anyways. I would like to see more users get familiar with Linux. For those that don’t know, Linux is FREE.
Microsoft is forcing users onto Bing, but we already have Google, which is like Bing, only better. DuckDuckGo is too under-rated.
I want to like Duckduckgo, I really do, but it almost encourages you to use another search engine to supplement, because you can’t find what you want with their search results. I like using Boardreader to search, since the most useful info, recommendations and resources tend to be posted on random message boards (I mean, the not-stupid message boards filled with Stalinist moderating and Internet feminist language, of course)
Sega+Sammy+Microsoft fits up like a connect them all Sega Genesis Master System beast:
MSoftSamMySegaDreamcast2
If there was some kind of Wheel of Fortune build your own puzzle, easily usable font for forums, my word combination kinda monster of brand names merging would fit nicely in one of those. Not to mention SamSung maybe wanting to throw their hat into the ring also.
But I would prefer that to be called the MSamSungSegaSanShiro.

Plus or minus hey I actually see the actual performance analysis and do it myself. You might be able to find targeted scenarios that have different performance: it happens, and each performance delta has to be carefully weighed because there is no possible need to be stuck at only using 32KB for all eternity. Software evolves, hardware evolves, and not taking advantage of that efficiently when of clear benefit is just shitty for the user. But those changes need to be targeted, and they are heavily and seriously analyzed.
So… uh, could you clarify? That doesn’t seem accurate unless you’re perhaps referring to some specific area of regression and just generalizing that.
I was looking into building a new desktop, and one of my good friends advised me against Win 8. He pretty much stated it was good for laptops, not so good with desktops. Said to stick with Windows 7 for a desktop, for now.
I fucked around with Windows 8 beta awhile back, and I didn’t really hate it, but Metro was kind of annoying. Yeah I know you can disable it and all that. But I dunno.
Sure, I can get “I do not like the UI”, which was new to 8 and improved in 8.1. I was just curious about what seemed to be a pretty blatantly bogus statement by Elder.
Hypothetically I’d suggest that somebody at MSFT believed too strongly in the Minority Report future (which has high value in the touch-only world), and since that Minority Report jump forward the 8.1 update smoothes the transition, and we’ll see where things go from here.
I historically have had zero interest in convincing anybody to Like something. I am interested in why people don’t like things I work upon because that gives me the opportunity to do my part to try to improve that. It’s not like everybody who works on Project Foo is dumb: things evolve, and typically noted pain points get looked at and addressed.
