I’m contemplating putting together a MODOK/Skrull/Doom villain team - any suggestoins?
I was thinking about going for hidden missiles on doom for pressure relief and to just get people to stop moving in order to do some skrull grab shenanigans - but I honestly don’t know what assists for MODOK or skrull - I’d just assume NOT the wallbounce skrull one because MODOK won’t need that in his combos for anything, and I suppose the barrier could set up for some shenanigans from Skrull’s command grab but I’m honestly not sure what way to go.
Alright, i recently decided to pick up mvc3 again and Superskrull is a character which did interest me right from the start, but i went with (Doom // Thor // Cap) instead and i got frustrated cause it´s really hard to get this team going ;]
So right now i got Superskrull // Taskmaster // xxx on paper and need to work on them. I haven´t been able to play or test this a lot due to my lack of spare time.
What i am asking you more experienced guys and girls is :
-What other character would fit in with those two ? I am looking into Spencer/Spiderman atm.
Well, it depends. Orbital Grudge lets Chris extend his combo easily after his second OTG. Tenderizer, on the other hand, covers one of chris’ weak spots… Probably there’s a lot more to say but those are just some quick thoughts
I’ve been wanting to get back into marvel for sure. I want Skrull as my anchor but I’m not sure about the other 2. I was thinking deadpool for my assist but I don’t know who to put on point. I was considering Chris or someone. Ideas?
I’ve been messing around with skrull because I love his range and mobility. I am putting together a team with Skrull-Dorm/Trish/???-DoomA
idk who to use as a second character. I really want to be able to control space, and I want an assist that can control the area above skrull because he doesn’t really have anything that reaches there. I like Trish’s trap and also the floor trap, and she DHC’s good. I also like the Dorm DHC and I can’t decide between the pillar or the black hole. The black hole would be good for pressure, but I like the placement of the pillar.
I’m also thinking like maybe captain america’s forward assist, it looks like it has good height and it comes out fast, maybe Hulk forward or AA attack. Anything that pushes them far away on hit. I’m sure Hulk > Skrull would have a good DHC. Anything that pushes them far away on hit.
I’m really trying to make emphasize his ranged normals and grabs and his pressure. He’s going to be even better when umvc3 comes out if he can meteor smash in the air. Just his punish ability and his ability to go from the air to anywhere on the screen.
Dorm’s been working great for me from the start. I’m using his assist less ever since I added Sent, but dark hole is really the way to go. You can hold the opponent in place with dark hole, then elastic slam on their first few frames out of block stun. You can call it during air down+H to make it safer, add damage, and make for an easier follow-up relaunch. Although my favorite trick is to call dark hole assist, dash forward and guess an elastic slam – after the dash forward, you end up standing smack in the middle of the hole, making opponents think twice about a big punish (I don’t know that it’s safe. I just know that I’ve never been punished.)
While purification is tempting as an anti-air, it doesn’t lend itself to good followups – you can’t even reliably elastic slam H after the air tech. You can pull some interesting shenanigans within combos, such as sending them skyward with the tower, then meteor smashing them back down into an inferno. However, these combos end up being flashier than they are damaging.
I’ve been thinking about running She-Hulk/Skrull/Sentinel for umvc3, seems like a solid team even in mvc3. Good vitality, damage, and unblockables. Any thoughts?
I found that I like Trish’s hopscotch assist with Skrull. I like how it separates the screen and helps his defense. They basically have to super jump to get around it, or if they go through and block it they fall right back to the ground and you can mix up, or just dash up and start d.H pressure + assist. Plus I like the round harvest DHC too.
Mostly I’m practicing to use this team in the long run, since Doom is getting better in Umvc3, and Haggar assist kinda got nerfed. And yeah, idk Trish is getting better too probably.
I really like the sound of that. Especially if you can force a super jump – I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but people don’t jump immediately after a super jump. People generally take a split second to assess the situation and spacing once they land. If you can force a super jump, you can very likely elastic slam as soon as they touch the ground. Please let me know if this works out for you!
A bit of advice: dont’. Things will change in UMVC3, but that’s not the game we’re playing right now. Besides, you’re going to have to relearn your characters anyway once UMVC3 comes out. May as well use what works for now, and just cross that bridge when you get to it. Anyway, that’s my two cents.
^I’m not really going to be playing very competitively for a while, so I’m trying to pick up different chars that I like that suit my style and also learn new games. Doom is one of my favs, I ran him forever and I love his beam assist. Beam assists are too useful.
Mostly I’m trying to design a team around skrull, and I think doom really helps him out. I’m pretty stoked b/c hopefully in umvc3 you won’t have to pick cheap teams to do well.
Maybe with the new hit recovery of orbital grudge, as an assist, it might set up air grab/air command grab for She-Hulk, since I heard they air recover instead of soft knockdown.
anyone rockn a skrull/phoenix team? im not to much into theory or tricks but skrull as a battery going first instead of useing him as an anchor may work out better for me. Also, morrigans dark harminazation as an assist to abuse the dark pheonix is what I have in mind.
So I’ve been thinking about using Skrull/Storm/Doom, but which of Doom’s assists is really suited for this team? I’ve been trying to decide between rocks and plasma.
I’ve personally settled on Tron Gustaff /Storm Whirlwind /Skrull Orbital Grudge
The team is set up with popular teams in mind, able to contend with Wolverine and Phoenix using DHC Hailstorm and Tron’s assist, as well as how excellent an anchor Skrull is. The order changes depending upon if the opponent has Phoenix or not, if they don’t Storm goes in the back.
As for assist, Orbital Grudge has been mentioned to extend Tron’s standard combos, but she gets so much more than that. With Orbital Grudge ANY hit turns into her full combos, making her low hitting moves much more threatening, and turning her grab in the corner into a full combo. This helps with her Wolverine and Amm matchups because now she no longer relies on air dash H to get big damage.
Gustaf fire can do wonders for Skrull’s reset oppurtunities and helps him against pressure from Magneto and Wolverine.
Whirlwind allows Tron and Skrull to approach through projectile based keepaway from the ground, clearing their way.
I’ve been working on Skrull-Trish-IM/Doom. Skrull on point, trish to split the screen in half with peekaboo assist and stop jump in pressure. It’s good cuz skrull has problems with defense, and if they are hit they are sent to the ground for a ES mixup. I can out poke them and hide behind the trap. Beam assist is good for making air d.H safe for pressure, clearing the screen of assists and crap, and even making Meteor smashes more or less safe for free cross up mixups. And skrull to trish is a good and safe DHC, and trish to IM is a good dhc.
And the best part is that all 3 chars are just getting better (from what I’ve seen) in umvc3.
