Invasion Force: The Skrull Team-Building thread!

I’m pretty sure after Stone Smite, Stone Dunk, Rolling Hook, you should be able to call Missiles, Meteor Smash, Stone Dunk, Rolling Hook into whatever ender you want (Double Inferno/Meteor Smash-Inferno) due to Meteor Smash reseting the ground bounce. I’ve seen it done with Sentinel Drones so I’m pretty sure it’ll work with Missiles. I wish I had more practise time to tell you for sure as it’s an idea I’ve had running around in my head for a while.

It doesnt work, hidden missles doesnt leave them in enough hitstun to connect a stone dunk after.

It depends, you may be right but at the moment (I managed to squeeze in a 45 minute training mode session) I feel it’s just down to the timing. Like if you call missiles slightly later (If possible) so the first missile hits as you land. I don’t know, I feel it will work in some way I’m just going to have to hardcore lab session with it. Also hitstun shouldn’t be a problem if Stone Dunk hits at the same time as the last missile.

Even if you call missles and do a raw meteor smash, you still dont have enough time for a stone dunk. Trust me it doesn’t work, but ive made up some hidden missles utilizing worm squash, and a dash back whiffed orbital grudge into fatal buster.

my team is Thor(mighty strike)/Superskrull(stone smite)/Sentinel(drones) with Superskrull as an OTG and my meter user for the obvious fact of superskrull with meter is a very scary character. especially when backed with sentinel drones. just looking for critiques on team and what you guys think.

What are the known characters that can reliably use Stone Smite assist to extend combos? Looking for a point for Someone/Task/Skrull. All I’ve seen is Cap/Nova/Dorm.

Wesker, Storm, Doom, Magneto, Vergil

My main team has always been Thor/Task/Skrull. Thor gets ridiculous mileage out of stone smite, absurd amounts of damage actually.

What do you guys think of this team: Skrull/Hulk/Strange?

I’m thinking of running Viper(Seismo), Trish(Low Voltage), Skrull(Tenderizer) since in theory this team has at least 3 easy unblockable setups. Air series in corner into round harvest, raw tag viper into tenderizer/low voltage assist+focus attack, tenderizer + focus attack on incoming characters, and round harvest raw tag skrull into elastic slam. You might even be able to toss round trip from full screen, raw tag skrull and land an elastic slam as the opponent finishes blocking the round trip. This team also gets an otg team hyper combo that does retarded damage and typically kills off almost any bnb. Doesn’t really have a helpful assist for the neutral game so that could be an issue, plus I hear lots of people like to snap skrull in which might muddy up the team’s synergy.

I dunno, haven’t messed around with Skrull much yet, but seems like a sexy team.

Well, I have a theory, and I want people to give me some ideas.

Team touch of death with Taskmaster (whatever)/Skrull (Tender)/Akuma (dem toes). Another dude’s idea, but it sounded fun. Taskmaster snaps back, tenderizer on incoming, DP+M, headbutt unblockable, tenderizer finishes, jumploops, and there’s 2 or 3 sequences that build a bar. Do it again. And again, and again. Profit. So, I was thinking who to use other than Skrull and Task. Hawkeye and Maggy can lift for otg and off throws, and help in neutral a bit, and will get more consistent conversions into death, but eh. Strange is always one of my favorites, but to be honest Task doesn’t use bolts as well as others, and though bolts for skrull is stupid-good, not worth it.

Akuma, conversions off throws, eats projectiles, I can shield skills into it for serious pressure, it’s all sorts of good. And he’s a serviceable anchor, and seems like the best third possible for this team, for this specific purpose. If Task dies, and the loop fails, I still got quite a lot to work with.

And here’s where I need help. How does Skrull use tatsu effectively? I can see elastic punch and tatsu working defensively, and I can see airdash d.H becoming a bit safer, but other than that, hell if I know. Anyone got some tips for me? Anything is appreciated. Also, any good combo extensions for skrull and akuma?

You can use tatsu for resets ie you land air grab in the corner, stone smite, j.S hold, rolling hook,S, j.MMHS, call tatsu d.H hold. Anytime tatsu hits you can dash over Elastic Slam H when they pop out of tatsu. Also, f+H+call tatsu combos, if it connect you can followup w/ rolling hook, meteor smash, inferno and can lead to happy birthdays as f+H will hit op and assist allowing tatsu to hit them both.

I’m currently running Skrull/ Frank West/ Akuma
Super easy to get frank to lvl 5 with a THC from Skrull. Skrull also benefits greatly from these assists (shopping cart and tatsu)because of easy air dash mix ups and command grabs off the assist. Frank also benefits from the tatsu assist off his roll. Akuma also makes a great anchor if it all goes south.

Just started using Super Skrull today and he’s a pretty cool character. Right now I’m using him with Spencer and Taskmaster. (2 characters I just can’t stop using.)

Spencer (slant)/Taskmaster (horizontal)/Super Skrull (tenderizer)

^^ is the line up right now but I don’t know if it’s the most optimal. What would you guys do to better this team? By the way I’ve only been playing the game for about a month competitively so I don’t know what’s good and what isn’t. I do watch a ton of videos though!

I have a question: Do Skrull really need Sentinel Drones?? what are some better assists for him

I played skrull sentinel shell for a while and I also considered picking up nova.

I think nova’s overhead assist is best for skrull. You can get some nasty unblockables using his dash stand short.

In my opinion both drones and bolts are great assist for skrull and nova.

Drones can make meteor smashes safe but bolts come out so fast and really allow skrull to fish for command throws

I’ve seen some people say that bolts make meteor smashes safe but I believe an opponent can simply block the meteor smash crouch and punish skrulls recovery. It’s only kind of semi safe if they stand in the middle of the screen and you cross them over using h meteor smash and you still have to be careful against slides or long range crouching normals.

The fact that the bolts can be ducked is however great for mindgames since you can go for the command throw or stand short mixup.

Sentinel drones

  • provides fullscreen way to harass opponent with meteor smash
  • hitconfirming of meteor smash
  • great for combo extensions. (double inferno combo and comboing of throws)
  • better for incoming mixups
  • drones move slow and you have to protect sentinel.

Strange bolts

  • fast startup and long lasting beam assist
  • great for fishing with command throws. In theory the opponent has to worry about three situation where you can command throw before between or after the bolts. and he also has to be scared of the stand short.
  • bolts assist can add some damage to skrulls bnb and comboing of a throw is super easy
  • strange stays on the screen for a long time. Drones can be on the screen for a while after you called sentinel and in some cases its possible to keep the opponent in blockstun with stand short and chain your other assist to keep up the pressure this would be a great way to land the unblockable using nova’s assist and its simply not possible with bolts
    -bolts whiffs on small characters

In my opinion bolts is a little better for skrull in the neutral game since I think the call drones and meteor smash tactic is only good if they opponent doesn’t know how to deal with it.

Which assist is better is also very matchup dependent.

I think sentinel is scary anchor when he has the momentum but doctor strange stops momentum because people are scared of SoV xfactor

I’ve ran a bunch of different Skrull teams and have pretty much tried him in every spot. To me he’s best either on point or an anchor. I’m not the biggest fan of an anchor Skrull because I feel he doesn’t have a solid assist, Stone Smite can extend combos ok but it uses a wall bounce so it could take away from other characters BNBs. Lately I’ve been running him on point but the biggest down side to that is that he doesn’t build great meter. I am a fan of Frank and Skrull though I’ve never tried it myself and I’ve seen how great Skrull and Sentinel can be together so people trying to figure out a team with Skrull should def consider thoses two. The characters I’ve been running with him have been Taskmaster, Wesker, Hulk, Akuma, Dormammu and Vergil for either their solid assists and/or their DHC potental. My team lately has been:

Skrull/Vergil/Wesker

With Wesker you can build the meter needed to DHC into Vergil’s Spiral Swords and completing a combo like that nets you just under a million damage. Also if you start the combo with a standing H, Stone Dunk, or Brutal Pile Bunker and do a simple relaunch combo with Wesker and end it with the Meteor Smash into Inferno, it resets the ground bounce (most of the time) and DHC’ing into Vergil will then lead to death for just about every character in the game for two meter. Using Vergil’s Rapid Slash assist can be used nicely with cross up air dash Stone Dunks/BPB or to help cover the screen with a Rolling Hook. You can also use it to lock down incoming characters and land pretty free command throws off of it. I feel like this is a solid team, but pointers and advice is more then welcomed, also I’d be happy to answer any questions about how to run this team (not just about how Skrull works on it).
