Invasion Force: The Skrull Team-Building thread!

What are some good anchor options for Hulk/Skrull. I’ve been using Wesker as a place holder as I get more familiar with making the two work together, but clearly this isn’t optimal. The problem I’m having is I don’t really like the way Doom and Dorm move and Sentinel gets opened up far too easy despite how good Drones can be. I’ve considered trying out Taskmaster or Cap (unorthodox I know, but I think it could work), but really any suggestions are appreciated, thanks in advance.

Currently running Felicia(Sand Splash)/Spider-Man(Web Ball)/Skrull(Tenderizer)

Need some snazzy mix-ups, set-ups, combos for Skrull with Felicia’s spray OTG if the occasion ever presents itself. I’m not coming up with anything decent because my combos have Skrull OTG himself and Poop Spray doesn’t pop the character up very high.

Both Hulk and Super-Skrull will, as you seem to have recognised, benefit from solid projectile assists, preferably ones that reach full screen or close to it… If they move slowly, induces significant blockstun and/or a decent duration, even better. Taskmaster’s h. arrows are a common and solid choice, so don’t be afraid to consider that if you’re comfortable with the character. Shield Slash is an intriguing and possibly worthwhile choice, so I approve of you experimenting with that. While no assist is going to be Sentinel Force Charge, there are still a huge range of potentially useful projectile assists to choose from, such as:
[]Akuma/Ryu: Go/Hadoken
[
]Arthur: Dagger Toss
[]Dante: Weasel Shot
[
]Doctor Strange: Daggers of Dennak/Bolts of Balthakk
[]Iron Man: Unibeam
[
]Morrigan: Soul Fist
[]Rocket Raccoon: Spitfire Twice
[
]Zero: Hadangeki
As long as you pick a character for being more than just being the assist slot, you should be okay.

Sentinel is starting to grow on me yet again, but I might give Arthur a go for a bit as well. I’ve also been experimenting with Ghost Rider/Skrull instead since Ghost Rider can be a really good keepaway battery for Skrull. I’ve found at times people get so frustrated with GR that by the time Skrull is in they’re leaving themselves more open to his shenanigans. Of course this is a strategy that the success rate completely changes from player to player but I still like it. I might just try giving Dorm another shot as well since he is that good. Thanks for the reply it’s given me a nice list to work out of and experiment with.

Skrull/Trish/Doom sounds beast, peekaboo assist lets you combo off of crossup meteor smash, Trish bnb w/ dhc inferno almost 800 k, Trish and/or K’rt w/ missiles assist…stupid, what do ya think?

Trish+Skrull discussion in the video thread is making me come out of lurking mode…Been using Trish+Skrull since Vanilla. Their DHCs work well, and I really like their neutral game.

So far, I run:
Dorm(Pillar)/Trish(Hopscotch)/Skrull (Grudge)
Skrull(Grudge)/Sent(Drones)/Trish(Peekaboo) and
Skrull(Grudge)/Strange(Bolts)/Trish(Voltage/Peek based on Strange’s matchups)

Trish’s assists are great overall, though tbh I tend to choose them based on whichever 3rd character I use and not on Skrull. He benefits most from the traps, as they force players to approach more cautiously, opening up to some elastic pokes and slam mindgames. Hop feels better defense wise vs peekaboo as it can’t be destroyed and splits the screen vertically. Doesn’t lead to easy combos like peek though, if that’s your thing. Voltage is still ok, but I prefer the traps (esp coupled with drones or strange bolts).

Not much to say about Doom. Missiles are stupid good like you said and really compliment Trish and Skrull’s neutral game. They’re good for keeping things safe, combo extension, and really add to Trish’s lame game. If Doom is snapped in, Trish assists help him out too. I’d definitely use him if I didn’t just hate his movement lol

Hey I’ve been toying around with Skrull, Doom and MODOK . I feel they could have pretty good synergy but I’m having trouble fitting them together on a team. I’m working with Skrull (Grudge)/Doom (Missiles)/MODOK (Beam), what do you guys think?

i’ve been running skrull since day 1 vanilla on like… every team since he’s my favorite character, and right now in ultimate i use the following teams:

Nova (overhead) / Frank (cart) / Skrull (tenderizer)
Frank (meter) / Firebrand (swoop) / Skrull (tenderizer)
Skrull (Stone Smite) / Doom (Missiles) / Wesker (gun)

when u guys call missles on your doom teams how do u prefer to cover them?

Recently I’ve been looking to expand my play roster and team options beyond my three best characters, namely Super-Skrull, Trish and Firebrand (in respective order of experience and positive turnouts). This means that I need to take a good look into all the characters I feel I can or want to play seriously and level up my game with them, so that I have more options in forming synergetic teams out of who I know best. My current “main” team of Firebrand/Super-Skrull/Trish has turned out okay mostly because of my experience with and/or love (lol) of the characters, and I have made some level of synergy work because of it, but I want to see if I can discover even more powerful teams that I can wield just as effectively.

So far, I feel Chris is the only other character I’ve picked up (again) that I can play on the same level as those three. Characters that I want to step up include Akuma, Dante, Doctor Strange, Deadpool, Ghost Rider, Iron Fist, Nemesis and maybe Wesker, who I all consider “serious” secondaries or want to play to at least that stage in the future. Out of these, I have started trying out a a two-point-character team of Super-Skrull/Chris/Dante. Jam Session is an amazing assist for both characters - it covers Elastic Slam attempts free and gives Chris a powerful anti-air at mid range. Dante benefits from both allies as well if not played as an anchor, with both a defensive assist that can convert into a combo and a decent projectile in the form of Gun Fire. And unless DHCs start with Dante mid screen, they chain together quite easily as well.

I don’t play this setup (because my Doom is ass) but I can speculate possibilities. I’d personally pair it with Meteor Smash attempts, as the two specials help each other against those who can connect with beams on reaction o the assist call; if Meteor Smash is block, Missles have a chance of interrupting most punish attempts: if a beam comes out, Skrull will tag them from behind and Doom should suffer minimal damage. I will use this space to argue that I think Kl’rt is one of those weird characters that actually benefits from Molecular Shield more than the other two assists, however. It is a decent preemptive defense, can provide corner lockdown, covers both variations of Elastic Slam quite well and makes a full screen Meteor Smash safer than with Missiles. I have not tested it out as much as I could, however, so take my words here with a pinch of salt.

i was thinking Spencer i don’t have a third person yet but then again my assist game is wack need to learn some assist combos with both anyone has a idea form my third

Looking at synergy between Skrull and Doom. Different options depend on the assist.
a) Plasma Beam - Usual beam assistance + you get the option to Rolling Hook off of a beam hit for a full screen combo, or confirm towards :h: + beam assist into :h: Meteor Smash to make towards :h: an even scarier tool.

b) Molecular Shield - My primary assist; strong defensive shield and pressure tool, acts like a single Sent Drone for mid-range purposes (if you like the shenanigans with safe meteor smash cross-ups and drones), really good with towards :h: because you get a safe 50/50 with elastic slam anytime you force the opponent to block the :h:. Add in dash-up pressure to that mix-up for even more opportunities.

c) Hidden Missiles - Protect Doom long enough and go to town…the usual missiles strategy. >_>

Figured I would post up since my days of Marvel play are pretty much lab-time only due to inactive scene and shitty Internet play, so forums are pretty much the only way to get anything out of lab time spent.

Oh, as a bonus a slow-moving projectile assist allows Skrull to combo off of his normal grabs from anywhere on the screen. For, Molecular Shield you need to combine a dash with the assist call ( :l: + :m: + assist 1), cancel into Meteor Smash so Skrull lands on the opposite side of the body and pushes the opponent into the projectile. From there, :h: and finish with a combo that uses everything but a ground bounce. Enjoy.

Molecular Shield is easily Doom’s best support assist for rush-down characters. Missiles are over-rated imo (unless you’re a zoning character, then missiles are for you). The crutch of having missiles protect you from being punished is nice, but hopefully a few more months will find high level players destroying that tactic completely (outside of just hyper punishing Doom).

that awesome i am def going to look into doom i was thinking of using hawkeye and his triple arrow
what console you game on?
i am on psn my username i my psn name (vamphion) i wouldnt mind playing with you and getting my ass kick a few times until i get nice lol

What do you guys think about Skrull as anchor?

I picked up UMvC only a few days ago and just grinded in training mode. I was thinking about Viper / Firebrand (Missile M) / Skrull (Tenderizer).

Viper: I want her as a point character as her assists are mediocre but she has monster damage output and I like her long combos with tricky execution.
Firebrand: Well, I like the character and would like to make it work but if not I will consider alternatives. The Missile M assist kinda replaces a beam assist for approaching so I guess it could work.
Skrull: He looks pretty interesting and is not that common. I want/need a lockdown assist on the team and I think Tenderizer could be helpfull for Viper + there’s the Firebrand / Skrull Death Loop.

What do you guys think?

i was actually playing yesterday night with Spencer Firebrand and Skrull .Firebrands assist (Missile M) works great i tired it as a cover for Skrull when i am doing pile bunker or metro smash plus Firebrand has great mix ups

a skrull anchor is reallly scary to people so i say go for it, however i have no clue about real real tournament environments.
my old skrull teams are still in use with my nova frank skrull being most successful.
all of dooms assists are godlike so i suggest trying out each one and seeing what works best for you, when i run skrull on point i personally love doom rocks <3

your the second person saying that i just suck ass with dr doom and i feel like i must choose a new one lol i need new dlc lmao

Yeah the only thing that’s stopping me from using doom is his clunkyness(if thats even a word). Have you tried IM? I am currently running Nova-B,IM-A,Skrull-B with great success. I think IM assist is the best beam assist in the game it holds them in place so you can do any combo of your choosing. IM is a great character aswell insane range, unseeable lows, instant overheads, and he builds meter like a boss. The only downside to IM is his combos are extremely hard to do and you have to space your attacks just right b/c your combo will fail. Anyone tried magnus with skrull?

i haven’t tired iron man for the same reason you stated his combos need perfect timing
i might change my whole team up or enter the lab again i know i want skrull as my anchor was thinking firebrand on point and maybe iron fist as my second

Dont know much about firebrand so I cant comment there but I suggest u put Iron fist on point b/c I feel he needs assist to get in n firebrands can really help him out
