Just a few important additions to the ongoing list:
Boris - experimental metal. I would recommend their album “Pink” as a starting point.
Sigh - extreme metal/avant-garde black metal. I am partial to their album “Imaginary Sonicscape” and highly recommend it.
Gonin-ish - avant-garde death metal. Gonin-ish has the only female extreme metal vocalist that I can stand. I recommend their album “Naishikyo-Sekai”.
HARDCORE TANO*C - J-Core. This is actually a record label for J-Core (a blend of hardcore electronic styles). The linked page gives the names of artists currently on the label. I highly recommend just about anything from this label, especially tunes by t+pazolite.
