Interview with Skullgirls IP Creator on game art hq

I interviewed Alex Ahad, Creative Director and Creator of the Skullgirls ip last week, you can read the whole Interview there on my website Game Art HQ or you copy and paste it where ever you want…crediting me /my site would be cool though if you do so.

The Interview is about his role as artist in the process of the game development, about characters and their influences and last but not least about fighting games in general

Boo for no Marin in SG.

That article was a good read. We hear so little from/about Alex so its nice to get some background. Not sure how much of that was common knowledge but its the first I’ve personally heard a lot of it so I’m happy.

I kinda figured most people would catch that one, though for the record he didn’t really say it absolutely wouldn’t happen. He’s just not going to release all of his characters in SG. 1 or 2 still might make the cut eventually, even if its not for the first game.

Yeah, I thought we knew about Marin not being a Skullgirls character for a while already. She’s from that other IP of his. He didn’t completely rule out non-SG characters showing up in the game in that interview, but he definitely doesn’t want to add too many non-SG characters, which I can understand.

But because of PF’s precedent we weren’t sure. Now she is disconfirmed officially =[

Hey, good news for me, the Sabine character was in the “skullgirls” section of one post if I remember correctly.

Hi!

I was going to send this as a PM to Jeff on the comments in the front page… but I see that the names on the news section don’t match with forum names.

It’s pretty cool to see that there are fans of Marin in general, I hope there would support whatever project Marin ends up being in. She is for a separate idea that has been brewing on the side for some time now.

Actually, I have a handful of ideas aside from Skullgirls that I have to make sure to keep separate from Skullgirls. It’s generally better that way.

Even though Panzerfaust ended up transferring, his style ended up as a better fit for Skullgirls. Marin and associated characters have generally a more cyberpunk feel in comparison, and don’t fit too well in the Skullgirls setting anyway.

I hope you understand and I apologize for that m(_)m I am flattered that there are fans of Marin, and hopefully that means something involving her would be interesting to see.

Also, was Sabine in a Skullgirls section? http://o-8.livejournal.com/96699.html#cutid1
Hm… I have a set of characters that kind of have that SG vibe, but a biiiit more fantasy-er (and generally a bit more complicated) that can generally be grouped together as a “Halloween” motif. The most recent complete pic of her: http://oh8.deviantart.com/gallery/#/d3208lw

Thanks guys, and I apologize if I don’t post on forums much. I do keep an eye on things though and am more of a lurker, really. ;w;

It is what it is, guys. This means she might a better role in the Vulcan heel universe and I’m all for that.

First of all…

Let me take the time to apologize for all the madness you’ve probably seen on here as a lurker. :stuck_out_tongue:

I can’t wait to see what else you’ve got up your sleeve. It’s crazy that your other characters feel more “Halloween” than Skullgirls too haha. SG already has this Darkstalkers vibe to it and I’m impressed that you can take the monster/creepy factor even further.

Quick Question:
For the non-SG series, about how seperate are they?
Like, are they simply the same universe with a divergance point very far back, or do they exist without interaction with each other? Or is there some strange overlap?
Sorry for my difficulty of understanding.
