Interest Check - Willing to buy top metal panels for TE sticks?

markman, are you going to be selling the sides any time soon?

I would definitely be interested in this. The pricing is perfect. It would be even more awesome if I could pick one of these up at a brick & mortar.

I am loving the idea!

Sounds good to me!

Great idea! TE’s are so common. Can’t go wrong.

Not up to us on what gets placed in retail B&M locations. Most of this stuff would be online, not that many retailers carry the TE sticks anymore (only when the new games came out).

Regarding other types of parts. Just be patient. 2011 is going to be good for TE faithfuls.

Defiantly interested in a HitBox layout. Really there shouldn’t be a problem with just talking with them for the spacing and such. I mean, would you have to talk to every designer of every layout you decide to make one of these panels for? If not, the HitBox shouldn’t be any different.

I love this idea. Tell the guys in R & D they stuck gold with this one.

How will you be able to mount any sticks? Are you going to spot weld brackets to the replacement panels like the original panels to mount the joysticks? I can’t see that part of the process. I buy the diff layout but how will I mount my JLF?

Potentially interested depending on what options are available and it’d be nice to get this stuff in the UK too.

Ideally I’d like the option of “lefty” config (why is it lefty to control directions with your right hand?) if there is internal space to mount everything, hitbox layout with a damn gap between the directions and button buttons (am I the only one who’s thumbs would cross while playing certain games with the hitbox layout?) and don’t go nuts with the artwork; you won’t be able to please everyone with the art so as long as it can be removed or spray painted over, all should be fine.

Thanks Mr. Man.

Also, and most importantly +1 for different colour TE sides.

Maybe I am assuming too much but it seems logical that these alternate metal*panels will come with joystick mounting brackets already welded on.

would definitely buy a few. Price seems reasonable.

Love that people keep thinking Madcatz (A HUGE GAMING ACCESSORIES MAKER) would have to ask how to make a layout for a keyboard stick. As if they don’t pay people to figure this shit out for them already.

I need two cable drawers for my te’s can you help me with that markman?

is it feasible to have smooth edges on a full size plate?
its the edges that fuck me up, i have carpal; thats why art’s full replacement murdered my wrists.

$30 is a great price if you’re able to have the option of new button layouts. Would <3 a True 7 Vewlix layout.

I do have some questions/points to bring up:

  • Would an Astro City-style 8-button layout be possible with the placement of the button terminal strip? Same applies to swapping the joystick/buttons side as was asked previously.
  • A layout removing the joystick in favor of 4 buttons would need a new wiring harness with QDs.
  • Would it be possible on the artwork that the button labels are left off? That way you could swap the buttons however you wanted without them being mislabelled or replacing the art.

These aren’t a problem for crafty modders, but the average Joe might be dumbfounded.

Really looking forward to this, it’s great that Mad Catz has offered the bezels/dustwasher+shaft covers for the TE sticks in 2010. The panel + other replacement parts would be awesome for 2011.

hey guys i should have my prototypes here by next week and i have talked a little to BWOA and he may be able to test fit them for me. the only prototypes i am going to have are the hitbox and astro city layouts. If the test fitting goes well then all should be great. As of now i am thinking of having the option to buy just metal panels for $25 since i have seen people ask for just metal panels. And also a $35 dollar option for metal panel with laser cut lexan plexi on top. i will know for sure soon

You should start your own post instead of thread-jacking Markmans interest check for a future madcatz product.

I will start my own post when they get here. Im not thread jacking a madcatz product. i have actually been working on this for the last 6 months. Its just my luck that markman would post this up a couple weeks before i was going to

I’d love a 6 button layout + run button panel.

It’s used in a lot of MAME control panels, would be perfect so I can play MK + Other fighters and not have to switch my stick up.

Is an example.

Maybe have the Viewlix 7 button layout and have the 8th button as a run button as like an ultimate layout so you can play SNK/NeoGeo/Capcom/MK with their own layouts.
