I think one should be proud if they made it deep into a tournament. But they shouldn’t brag, unless they finish top 3.

My shmups are essentially dead (save for the odd release every now and then). At least fighters are still being released here and there on a more frequent basis.
As for moving on totally, I’m not quite ready for that yet. Even though I did sell everything in my Dreamcast and Neo Geo Pocket Color collections recently, I’m still playing 2D fighters through emulation, Xbox, PS2, and handhelds and will continue to do so well into the future.
I often wonder when we’ll finally see the next new and truly original 2D fighter from Capcom but I keep regulating that as nothing more than a mere pipe dream.
