Injustice: Gods Among Us; New Game by NetherRealm Studios

I suppose. Sorry. That subject has always bugged me.

No need to apologize, just a suggestion :stuck_out_tongue: I totally agree with what you’re saying anyways

On to the personal obsessions, do you think Zod being the villian in *Man of Steel* gives him a better chance, or still too super-shoto-y?

I seriously never even knew that was a thing until people started mentioning it about a year ago. I didn’t make up this name, me and my father used to share a PSN account and he made the name (because Rayplay was his nickname in college from what he told me), and since we share the same name, it just stuck with me. It has nothing to do with whatever twisted game that is…

I don’t think Zod is different enough from super man to really make him a viable character slot. I don’t know enough about him though.

I do think he is a good choice for the man of steel movie. Given how it seems they want to show why Clark decides to become superman, Zod will be a great will to have him become it. I see it being that Superman wants to honor his races legacy, and defeating Zod and becoming superman is the way to do it. Save Lex for the second movie.

I’m sure you didn’t choose it on purpose. I’ve been on the internet too long, haha. And you shouldn’t change it because of that either.

It annoys me when every time a game as a non-traditional element to it people are quick to call gimmick and want to remove it without even bothering to test the merit of it. Stage interactions in this game have an assist-like quality to them. This being NRS I would think their fanbase would have more faith considering how often they patched MK9 when a problem arose.

As much as I love MK9 they screwed up alot of simple things so it’s not crazy for the MK community to want them to get the small stuff right first. Plus while we are dedicated I don’t think many NRS fans WANT to have to keep up with patches again and all the adjustments constantly being made. It was a pain trust me.

In the end it’s human nature to fear the unknown but as soon as the TYM guys get their hands on the final game they’ll be in love just like MK9 I’m sure.

As annoying the constant patches were it at least showed that NRS were willing to fix things. With the stage stuff there’s no telling how “right” it is until it gets out in wild. Hopefully they’ll put out a demo like they did with MK9 to put people at ease with this particular matter.

Oh I agree I loved that they fixed what was wrong I just don’t wanna wake up and my BnB’s not work anymore because they changed hitboxes to make a match-up more even. That is what rubbed the most NRS fans the wrong way including me.

I’m not sure if they are gonna do another demo or if they are going the Capcom route by letting people play different builds as they progress and getting feedback. It seems like the later so far but they got plenty of good feedback from the MK9 demo so I’ll like to see them do that again as well with Injustice. If only to build up more good will.

Personally, if they’re going to do balance patches, I’d like it to be done sporadically, once every few months then waiting and seeing how the metagame develops. No kneejerk reactions like capcom’s way too premature nerf of Sent, etc.

Under their system they can and do patch substantially more aggressively (since it doesn’t involve the tens of thouseands of dollars in update fees for most tweaks), so expect a bunch of constant retweaking during the first month or so of release.

I guess I’ll reference a couple of my other favorite games, Dota and League of Legends. Icefrog, the lead developer of Dota, prefers to have large patches a few times a year, while the LoL devs prefer to patch every week or two. The problem is that you can’t tell what is trends, and what is actually overpowered. People find workarounds, given time, but if you are too quick to nerf or buff, you can never really discover that. There are going to be generally more powerful characters and weaker characters, given time, but if you don’t let the players control the metagame, let it mature and see what rises out of the standard deviations, you’ll never see what’s just trends, what can be discovered, and what potential goes untapped because it was too quickly altered.

That is just my opinion though, some people prefer the more frequent patching. I suppose it’s good, because it shows that the developers care and are trying to keep the game competitive, but I think it’d be a little better to leave off the reins a bit and see where the game heads, then, if it’s actually going in the wrong direction address it.

Sentinel nerf is a horrible example. The patch came exactly one month after the game’s release and patches take six weeks at the earliest to get approved on consoles. The timeframe doesn’t suggest it was in response to complains.

MKs early patches were to address immediate out of the gate problems / glitches that could not be ignored if the game was going to hit EVO and PDP and WNF and all the other majors that it had been shopped to. Like Skullgirls, they took these opportunities to try and fix the balance too while they were at it. Its not like they issued a patch just to nerf Kano’s upball or Sub Zero’s EX Freeze. Johnny’s infinite X-Ray had to go.

The games first real balance only patch happened a month before Evo when Skarlet dropped, and its when Jax started to move up the tier list, and Sindel, Sheeva, and Baraka stopped being so worthless. Before that, literally all they did was try and keep Raiden, Kung Lao, Kabal and Ermac from absolutely running the tier list with their “hotfix” system.

MvC3 did the same thing when they wiped out all of Dante’s retarded day 1 infinites, america infinite, ammy infinite, tatsu infinite, all the other dumb shit with the first 2 or 3 patches. Only difference there is whenever they got the brilliant idea to abandon the game’s support in favor of ultimate, they left behind the DHC glitch, Vanilla Dark Phoenix, and a couple other dumb things that everybody just accepted because of the FGCs retarded MvC2 apologist defense.

Yeah, well… Wait, that actually makes alot of sense then. Carry on NRS, patch away.

Now, let’s get to the juicy stuff- which characters are you guys most excited about so far?

Batman and Harley.

Why? Is it because you like the characters, or because of how you think they’ll play? Harley seems kind of cool, but I don’t really like relying on randomness in matches, and that seems to be her gimmick.

Grodd and Cyborg are looking awesome, I love power-house characters.

and has anyone seen this yet? its awesome in a very cheesy way, without being baby-fied like that Marvel Super Hero Squad show.

I also like how they acknowledge that superman is weak when he’s out of the sun.

Seems like people don’t want to use that as one of his weaknesses anymore, I’d rather that be his main weakness than shitty kryptonite.

some writes even tried to counter-act it by saying stuff like he charges yellow sun energy or something which I think is BS.

Don’t even try, everyone is convinced capcom did it for that reason and no amount of legitimate arguments are gonna make any of them change their minds, i just let them believe whatever makes them feel better.

On a side note, I know this is too early but does anyone think DC are gonna hook us up with another alex ross limited edition cover? For sure ill buy this game if they pull a stunt like that, I was actually considering picking up MKvsDC for this reason alone(I hated everything else about the game tbh).

Cause he’s the goddamn Batman and I’ve been liking Harley more and more as of late since I’ve been playing the Arkham games and watching Batman TAS and Batman Beyond to relive my childhood. She was meh to me when I was younger since I always saw her as just a lackey and nothing more, but actually reading some of her stories and such gave me better opinions of her. Plus, I absolutely love the dark action girl trope.

Outside of them, I’m considering Nightwing (so to just make it clear, Batman is my favorite DC series) and Flash looks pretty kewl too. Grundy also has my attention since I’ve been playing more grappler characters recently.
