Injustice: Gods Among Us; New Game by NetherRealm Studios

Stage interaction can be hit or miss.

If it’s busting people through walls and floors like XMCOTA or MvC1 Bathhouse? Cool.

If it’s like you get different attacks when near a wall or low wall or something like that like VF throws? Cool.

If it’s shit falling on your head and getting in the way or random tigers attacking you out of nowhere? No thx.

With you on this one, honestly MK9 had the best super meter system of any game in recent memory. I don’t want it to be exactly the same ‘just because’, but along those lines would be perfect. “Choose what you use your bar for!”

It was mostly due to the primary way to gain meter was by getting hit, so basically getting your ass handed to you would let you use the breaker eventually. This coupled with things like the first attack bonus and meter being useless in some cases aside from breakers made me really hate the system - and MK9 as a whole, but I won’t go there.

I’m sorry, no.

Pure Electricity… In my pants

No it wasn’t. The primary way to gain meter was to have your opponent block, and breakers were only useless against projectiles and Xray moves, which made sense.

Gaining meter from getting hit also made sense / added strategy, because sometimes you would want to intentionally stop the combo because the scaled damage wasn’t worth giving away meter.

oh god breakers

because I put in work just so you could escape

prob one of the worst things to put into a fighting game

i-m-o

People need to chill out and give NeverRealms a fucking break.

No matter what you think of MK9 in terms of gameplay as an avid fighting game player, MK9 was a very well made product that had a lot going for it in terms of value for money and general style. It had a huge story mode which acted as a mini-tutorial, letting you get to know the all the characters one at a time while informing you on all the history of the MK universe. A challenge mode which had more story and narrative than SSF4 and UMvC3 combine. Additional costumes for every character unlockable in the game for free, dlc that was fairly priced and could be bought at the discretion of the player (you only want Kenshin, no problem) and NeverRealms themselves had a very active hand in the MK community, patching the game regularly and trying to iron out problems with it as well as fronting up money for huge tournament prizes.

If DC really wanted a fighting game, even if it’s only be playable in the hands of shock-horror “casual” gamers then they did the right thing going to the same studio given what they delivered for MK9 and holy shit it just might be an enjoyable, technical and tournament viable game. I think some people just can’t wait for their next chance to be disappointed around here.

P.S. Just finished reading the eventhubs comments if you’re wondering where this rage came from.

This became a wishlist thread rather fast.

The characters are interested in seeing more street level heroes make it in. I’ll love to see Nightwing, Black Canary, Huntress, and Question (Vic Sage version). Also would like them to not go with obvious choices. Say use Roy Harper or Connor Hawke instead of Green Arrow. They went with Harley Quinn instead of going with Joker again so hopefully they’ll continue doing that.

MK9 was the best MK in 15 years. All they need to do with this game is FIX THE FUCKING NETCODE and I’m there.

I hope they knock this out of the park because 1. I want a good fighting game and 2. I like it when a developer shows Capcom how it’s done.

Also, you have to have knowledge to say ‘is this combo worth 2/3 of my meter to break?’ It’s a tactical decision on both ends.

Im excited, I doubt its gonna be competitive but not every fighter has to be. If it has the awesome story mode netherrealm are becoming known for and the slew of extra’s MK 9 had I don’t think ill mind if it ends up not being a tourney level fighter.

I do like the interactivity ideas he was throwing around in the interview, I hope they find a way to make that work. Oh and I wonder if its gonna be 2 or 3D, it looks 2D in that video but I think a 3D environment would fit the game better and we have enough 2D fighters as it is. Something like the imperfects, except not complete ass. And I mean the bad kind of ass.

I know right, as if magneto could pull off magnetic blast loops and fire off electro magnetic disruptors in the x-men comics.

Who is going to try and please every comic book fan? There’s a certain amount of complaining that you have to ignore.

Some ideas for Spectre moves if they include him:

Presumably an M rated game afterall

If you read front page comments on SRK or EH, you deserve it lol

Please use GGPO! We know it can be used in 3D fighters and it would be cheaper and probably more time efficient than attempting to make the old code good or build one from scratch.

Haha, yeah I guess so  I play a game with myself, read any post on eventhubs and see how long it takes someone to complain without reason, I made it to comment #2.

The only true game there ever was is Third Strike, and really if you don’t play as one of five characters then you are a scrub. Fuck all you casuals and your non-arcade having asses - you are basically a grandma with a video game console.

A non Japanese developer can NEVER make a game even worth my time to look at. Guns have no honor!

turns on MvC2 soundtrack for a tasty jam, “Take you For a Ride”

I love how they decided Grundy should have knives. I can’t think of any enemy that Grundy can hurt with a knife that he can’t do more damage to with his fist. Still awesome though

God DAMN Im hype for this game now. Comic books are fuckin cool.

If I were making a DC game, I’d get Alex Ross to handle all the visuals.

I doubt it at this point. I can only imagine they are working from the foundations from MK9 and it looks like they are well into development. So unless they decided to use GGPO before development and implemented save states and everything else needed for GGPO to run, i doubt it.
