Slade has a long history as an enemy of the Teen Titans, beginning when his other son, Grant, became an early Titans foe called the Ravager, who was physically enhanced to fulfill a contract to kill or capture the Teen Titans. However, those enhancements proved fatal and Slade agreed to complete the contract. His first mission involved stealing the fictional element Promethium from S.T.A.R. Labs and selling it as the ultimate weapon. He then kidnapped the Titans and placed them in the path of a Promethium bomb to test his device for the buyers, effectively killing two birds with one stone. The Titans escaped and pursued Deathstroke, but he severely wounded Garfield Logan, then known as Changeling, in his escape. This would be the start to a lasting animosity between the two.

Deathstroke next appeared in New York, holding officials hostage in order to lure the Titans into confronting him. Terra, a new ally of the Titans, and Changeling were the only ones available to answer the call. Terra knocked Logan out in an effort to prove herself worthy of being a Titan and fought Deathstroke single-handedly. Slade escaped as the other Titans arrived, but by then Terra had proven herself and the team offered her membership. Later that night, it was revealed that both Terra and Deathstroke conspired to fake the fight in a plot to infiltrate the team. It was also revealed that both shared an intimate relationship, despite Terra being fifteen years old.[1] The artist, George Pérez, noted that this constituted “statutory rape.”[6]

Does anyone else think this is kind of appalling? The character is being glorified as a ‘badass anti-hero’ type, and subsequently glorifying sex with minors. A lot of people criticize games such as Arcana Heart for perpetuating the glorification of the sexualization of minors, but this is even worse in my opinion. In the case of anime titles, these aspects are only suggestive and partly in the eye (or the mind) of the beholder, but here they are completely canon in the DC universe. What you you think?

yeah, that was pretty bad. through and through. I think there are some pretty good Deathstroke moments from other writers, but the fact that something like this was written (without any sort of self awareness) is unacceptable.

it’s stuff like this that fuels me even more on my journey to write/draw comics. there’s really no reason why huge companies like DC and marvel can’t have meaningful and nuanced writing

I think that’s how it’ll be until people find out all the “good stuff” combo wise. I also think the MB stuff is for people who want that extra damage but can’t keep up with the 65% damage meterless players (like myself). I spend those 3 bars to break 35% if I’m lucky.

the problem with it has nothing to do with it involving someone banging a minor; there’s nothing inherently wrong with showing stuff in literature… it has to do with the fact that it was written with it being like “nobody cares.” it’s like all the times that marvel and DC insert shit like “such and such character got raped!!” to make the story MORE MATUREeeEE~ or a previously virtuous character like batmn becoming A STONE COLD KILLER because they “were driven to the limit!!11!!”

when they do senseless killing and act characters act like it’s nothing (unless that is their character; deathstroke and his ilk are pro murderers so they wouldn’t react) it’s terrible as well, i’m not privileging rape over murder

my answer: nah, the game has no real merit as a piece of fiction but seems like a pretty sweet fighting game. I dun really care who the characters are so much if I like how they play~

I expect nothing less of Deathstroke. He is tough as nails and as raw as raw gets. He will nab your girl in front of you, take her home and mess with her, then spend 2 weeks mailing you pieces of her because he gets bored easily and human lives are what he deals in.
