Flash should not be doing the Cage shuffle in the final build. From watching the video it looks like this has breakers also, so guess this is like a spiritual umk9. Is that a bad thing? Not necessarily since MK9 was a good game and it gives them a chance to perfect its gameplay. I’m a little disappointed that I saw some things similar to MK, but I’ll get over it if it fixes the problems in MK.
I love how the breakers now break the environment.
Breakers aren’t a “MK tradition” thing, so I’d imagine the logic that led NRS to include 'em in MK9 still applies.
Breakers have been in since MKD hell MK4 if you count that MAX DAMAGE thing.
I… I stand corrected
Fuck.
Breakers could simply be an indicator of “We made a game with lengthy and/or high damage combos, here’s a way to be less salty about them being done to you”.
A smart and logical decision based on other factors of the game’s design.
Tradition doesn’t need to play a role.
That being said, I’m sure this game will play with MK layout/style and have all the same quirks about it, because they’re using the MKDC/MK9/Even further back game as a base then building on top of it, instead of starting over form scratch.
So yeah, expect breakers, a block button, no trade hits, etc. Bail out now if you want.
That font makes me want to stab somebody
There’s nothing wrong with block buttons and breakers. Breakers prevent infinite combos from happening. Thats why they added breakers not cause of the reason you gave. There’s no way to tell about the trading hit part. In fact I would prefer block button and breakers in my fighting game.

some new gameplay.
Also the story will apparently explain why people can survive superman’s super etc.
Probably someone (most likely Luthor) trying to give themselves super powers, something goes wrong, cue the shockwave of some type of radiation, and badabing badaboom, everyone has super strength/durability/invulnerability.
Just use nanomachines like in DCUO
Last time they gave everyone powerful a ‘magic’ debuff. It was like 30 seconds into the MK v DC trailer. Superman gets hit “ugh…Magic!”
You know, they could make it so that you could only use breakers when there was an actual infinite happening.
NRS couldn’t even get inputs to come out correctly.
Well its more about giving the people to get out of long combos at a cost anyways. Infinites shouldn’t happen, and can be pretty easily patched out.
They could, but what would that do about non-infinite, but still lengthy combos being unfun to sit through as the game becomes single player?
They only need to make EX/Supers more viable so breakers aren’t the best choice every time you have meter like in MK9.
To paraphrase from Mike Z, as long as the skill/execution required for them is high enough, then they’re fine.
Think I would like a 2v2 mode in this.
Even Mike realized that having combos be too long was hurting his game though
