Info on Changes to Guy in Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade!

By ‘normals are stronger’, I hope that means his d+HK and run>slide are corrected too. Active frames on those are pretty weird. Guy still slides while he basically can’t hit you anymore.

Short tatsu will also potentially be a good hit confirm into super when you’ve got your opponent cornered. I can see this adding nicely to his corner pressure.

Awesome, I really wanted a solid non ex AA. He deserves it since you can’t even fadc out of it so it’s very risky to begin with. Now I just want confirmation on fixed TC and guy will be great

ATTENTION: if Guy loses lower body invicibility on lk tatsu, he’s kinda fucked. That’s a pretty BIG nerf. Lk tatsu stops crouch techs, throws, and is a frame trap vs abel who can stop your jump down+mp to continue pressure for escaping a TT. now he and other characters like thawk and zangief will be able to pressure you with throws and ex throws to stop your frame traps and trick throws (as if that wasn’t bad enough with the low hitstun on flip elbow (which is sometimes -1 or worse on landing even on hit = throw from grapplers).

Hope people can comprehend how bad this is. But hey, if the other buffs go through we should be alright.

Off-topic, I thought about alt-ing Akuma, how bad was his Vortex nerfed in Super? 'Cause that Vortex is what seems so fun to me.

This would be amazing… oh wait… it might be a nerf in disguise. One of the greatest things about d+mp is that many characters whiff like a mofo below you when they try to reversal. It’s the move’s best asset… It forces them to stay put… block it right… and even if they do… likely get stuck in a block string or throw shenanigans. If you come down quicker I could see it dropping you strait into those reversals… coughflask kick*

Right now the move is a fuck you to mashers… it makes them either whiff or block… one is how they lose and the other they hate to do… advantage guy…

Please don’t change that capcom… and make me drop strait into random reversals all day online…

I think this boils down to a timing + spacing issue. As it stands now, Guy’s Elbow can get raped by DPs and Flash Kicks and what not depending upon spacing and timing. Also, as it stands now, you can (done this a few times) completely stuff a flash kick if you time it and space it right. Faster elbow all in all means that they’ll have a few less frames to react, and that you can use tighter mind games since you can jump in a bit closer and cancel the elbow a bit later. I think this change (if it holds) is fantastic, and to me Guy is gonna “shoot up tier lists” if you abide by that sort of thing; if not, Guy’s going to be MUCH, much better. His run stop game is gonna be even nastier ESPECIALLY w/a buffed U2 and a buffed cr. LK. I’m freaking psyched about Guy!

MadTitan brings up the most fearful point. Nerf in disguise? What’s not broke don’t fix it? Yeah, this sounds like it’s going to be nerfed to help Guile. But people don’t know how bad the Guile matchup is for Guy (I fought Diminion, okay?). Look up Kiryu vs Daigo Umehara early games. Even without knowing the gaps (presumably) in Guy, Daigo was able to legit hold out quite easily and nearly beat him.

EDIT: just read mistaklutches post. Good point. I agree so far, but we’ll have to see. Capcom doesn’t like “scrubby” things and imo its the ONLY thing Guy has going for him right now that’s pretty good. It can be countered by simple dash under/focus attack dash ins and command throws and dps…ok so it’s not so hot but still, Capcom can be retarded. The recent changes were based on scrubs complaints (fuerte blanka etc).

I really hope no one hops on the Guy train. I dont want a million Guy players. : /

Don’t you think they should fix the juggle properties of his neutral j.Hk? If you get both hits it’s almost impossible to be able to juggle something else afterwards…

What do you guys think? I would like to see more opportunities for juggle combos…

Not to burst your bubble sir, but be prepared for a bandwagon. I’m sure a few people will drop Guy after trying him out and realizing it’s not quite that easy and that top tiers blast him if they turtle intelligently, but I see a bandwagon comin up.

Let’s be sure to critisize them and forward them to the proper forums (Makoto/Sakura) who are going to b gdlk.

I can guarantee you that neither of those 2 characters will be godlike, Makoto needs to be aggressive during the majority of the match which isn’t necessarily easy for her due to know clear GTFO me move and the ability to parry.

Sakura relies heavily on mix ups which is easy to read if you are patient… and not getting flustered by the dash crossups/fake dash crossup,

Even then, every character will get a bandwagon that will sound good, but even before that they still will have to learn the character.

If they add evil ryu and shin akuma, there might be even less guy players lol…but I aint worried. Guy is not a character for beginners and with the buffs that other low tier characters got, like gen and makoto, those characters will gain more players. Guy is going to have a lot of even match ups now and I hope he doesn’t get much nerfs.

Real talk, if Evil Ryu or Shin Akuma is in, I’m giving them a look and I don’t care what anybody says. But I made the decision to stick w/Guy in SSF4 unless they just nerfed the bat shit out of him. I’m gonna have to stay away from these forums anyway b/c all this waiting and hype and anticipation makes me impatient at times.

Give them a look sure… but in all honestly when have either 2 characters been tournament legal :P. If he is legal I know who Daigo and Tokido are going to be siding.
