we’re not talking about hi\low anymore. we’re talking about using assists to cover up your point character so the mixup becomes invisible. Which is technically no different than a teleport mixup.
Haven’t read the entire conversation but I would like to comment on your statement about teleport mixups. They aren’t necessarily unreactable, some of them aren’t even really mixups.
Take Dantes, pretty infamous for his left/rights n such, but is it really a mixup? His teleport goes behind you 100% of the time, wheres the other side of that mixup?Your reaction to a Dante beam+teleport needs only to be as tight as your opponent allows it.
Vergils has a slight visual cue as to which teleport hes doing. Weskers is spacing dependent, so if you know the spacing, you need not react, just know. For other ones like Dorms, its a similar case to Dantes, it becomes much harder to convert off of an Mass Change L compared to M, so I doubt you’ll see that very often, if ever.
Then for a few other characters, as long as you stay in the corner, they can’t teleport behind you, such as with Strange/Phoenix.
Thats all fairly irrelevant, as teleport mixups are still very strong and prevalent within most levels of play, but theres a reason why it tapers off at higher levels. Not to dismiss left/rights at all though, especially from the likes of Vergil if he gets you to block anything.
lol same, my vid’s only been up like an hour and it has 1 like and 4 dislikes. Who is even watching these?
Or maybe it was that youtube tried to fix the ‘shakiness’ of the vid and it ended up making it much, much worse…
I don’t get that. Like the vid, not the mechanic.
Hell I think this discovery is horrible for the future of this game. But props to the people finding the inhibited and making vids. You deserve likes.
I expect to see OMGitzAndre to be doing the infinite
and dropping it
repeatedly
I specifically referenced that fact in the quote, specifically because I saw this objection coming.
to quote, “…is how hard/easy they are to read/escape”
Learn to read the entire post, not just the part you can get mad at.
some stuff never changes huh
Right, to take this to the next level I’m starting option select Iron Fist’s assist for if I drop the infinite, anybody with like tatsu or another assist with a strong hit box/quick startup should start doing it to provided you’re not doing your infinite on say, Sent or Akuma etc.
In theory anyway, if you’re going to go for it you might as well cover all your bases.
I found Skrull’s just having a hard time doing his jump loop strings.
I’ve never been a tournament player or even considered myself worthy of that level. I play the game because i find it fun. But when i think about how I, as a non-tourny player, need my meter so i can get good damage output, then i see these infinites, I find it “broken.” On a level of enjoying the game, these infinites take the fun out of it. No more “what do i do after recovery from this combo”. If i see the infinite going on me, i have to worry about my next character and what incoming mixup i have to deal with, and if i fail, I lose another character.
I always look for the best damage output i can achieve, and i sometimes use youtube if i’m not happy with what my current self-made combo can do (example, without assists, i couldn’t do much more than abc combo, otg hyper with X-23, then i learn the H-teleport jump combo on youtube). Since i play for fun, if i do end up playing someone with an infinite, i technically have to work harder than that person, since he only needs 1 hit confirm to kill and i need 2. I also need meter to kill in those 2 hit confirms, whereas his 1 confirm TOD BUILDs him meter, and mine loses me meter or breaks even.
I will admit i’m unable to perform the infinites. My execution isn’t that great, and i even sometimes drop zeros OTG relaunch. But I generally think it should be impossible to kill off of one hit confirm in any fighting game. Even at tourny play, but TODs at least used some meter when i see them.
The assist is the mixup. A raw dante teleport is no threat, and in fact you can jump and throw him if your not in blockstun, but when a dante play calls in doom beam assist, the timing of his teleport determines the way you have to block. If he hits the assist button and immediately teleports, you block the holding towards the assist. But if he waits a half second, you have to guess if the beam will hit you before the sprite reaches the other side of you.
Vergil on the other hand can teleport immediately and you have to guess or pay strong attention to whether he’s teleporting in front of you or behind. I use this a lot and i do “mix it up”. I didn’t know their is a visual cue to his teleports though. I check that out later. maybe i will be able to tell where an opponent vergil will end up at.
As for wesker, if the spacing isn’t right, his teleports don’t mixup. Hopefully wesker players know their spacing well enough to realize they can’t mixup off a fullscreen teleport. Anyhow, at the right spacing you can safely assume he teleports behind u, and you just have to figure out if it’s above you or on the ground. If he teleports backwards, I’m farely sure you can take the free hit from say plasma beam or whatever knowing that he won’t be able to combo off it.

Ryu Infinite
Why would you even think he would try it?

Just because the teleport is done at a range where it will switch sides, doesn’t mean that the timing he used will make it switch sides before the assist comes out. This is particularly why I consider the game quite random with teleport mixups. It’s not just about reacting to the teleport, it’s about whether the sprite will reappear at the spot you expect it to, before the assist makes contact.
One specific issue I see is that many players can unintentionally mixup the opponent with this by unintentionally messing up the timings of their teleports and assist calls, making things that you think are going to crossup, not crossup before the assist hits. This is why teleport + assist (and other simliar mixups) are so retarded.
this game is way stupider than mvc2
its up to you if you wanna take that as good or bad. i just hope they bring back a dizzy/spin out in mvc4
was somebody comparing?
yeah, on the first page. I dont feel this game is anything like marvel, it looks and feels like a mashup of mvc1 and xvsf
Means more character variety for tournaments so I’m down.
i think this game could use a spin out though, since hitstun deterioration has been proven to be a joke
You don’t feel that it’s only a matter of time before Zero and Vergil invalidate ALL of the cast? I think we’re already nearing that point.
