Play around with the whole cast, that should help. I’ve been trying to learn faster more combo oriented characters like Doom and Magneto trying to mimic tragic’s apprentice combos. The re-fly combos are not going well. Much easier to pick Haggar and hit them with the pipe followed by easy bnb combos.

I started with Tron / Arthur / Phoenix to start and that’s still how I’m going, but I’ve mixed up my assists… Tron on point has good BnB combos and builds meter very nicely. Not to mention any “corner only” combos are basically always available because any tron combo always put you into the corner by the end of it. Arthur has great keep away… phoenix is always the last bullet in the chamber, and she’s dangerous period.
Good damage / great DHCs my only problem is I still personally am deficient against certain people. Like Super Scrull owns me free not because he’s awesome… but because I don’t know how to block yet
Doom has an amazing assist that allows your point character to get in easily. I’m definitely gonna keep Doom in my team.
I want to play Doom on point with Doom assist
I’m really digging Haggar right now. Respect the pipe!
I don’t like Pheonix…It makes more nervous than X-factor Sentinel.
I’m more or less comfortable with Hulk’s role on my team but I don’t really like playing as him. I would love to replace him but I can’t decide who to put in his spot. I have a few ideas but it’s hard to make a decision without basically learning a bunch of new characters and testing them out extensively
My Tron combos evolved today, I think I might switch my main and secondary teams. I like Wesker but Doom is really where it’s at and I’m finally starting to get accustomed to Tron’s MvC3 changes enough to make her fun again.
After a few rough draft teams, I decided to go with Haggar / Wolverine / Akuma. I knew I wanted to use Haggar. I really liked wolverine and he worked well with my first team of haggar and arthur. Then I began to hate arthur so i tested out different characters and replaced him with Akuma.
I can’t decide if I want Haggar or Wolverine on point. I start Haggar to build up meter but using Haggar’s assist defensively for wolverine is just amazing. Maybe tag out haggar after I get 3 bars. What do you guys think?
No Ten Buck Tuesday for me sadly. :bluu:
I’m rockin’ Dante/Chris/Akuma right now. Loving it.
Does Haggar really build that much meter? I have usually found that the slow/heavy characters don’t build that much meter compared to other characters who use a lot more hits in their combos.
My new Tron combo builds like 2.25 meters and can immediately spend it at the end for a DHC into as much as 950k damage depending on what character you DHC into. I’ve been fiddling around with Spencer as an alternative to Hulk, his horizontal grapple assist does more or less everything that I wanted to do with Hulk’s gamma wave and he can still DHC in similar ways. I need to get some actual play time in to test things, maybe I can manage to get downtown today
He doesn’t build incredible amounts of meter with his BnB combos, but it’s still a decent amount. He just doesn’t need to use meter in his combos to deal massive dmg. I’m gonna experiment with Wolverine on point.
Yea, you land one pipe and that’s 40 percent life with no meter needed.
Mario have you tried using Sentinel on your team with Arthur? It seems like a lot of people who use Arthur in tournaments have him on a team with sentinel.
Something like arthur/haggar/sentinel might be good since you have sentinel drones assist to help arthur’s projectile extravaganza and the haggar assist for when people get too close to arthur. Also they are relatively strong characters on their own and the team shouldn’t completely fall apart when arthur dies.
I used to run Haggar / Arthur / Sentinel. Sentinel’s Assist works really well with haggar also. In retrospect, Arthur should have been on point.
I won’t use Sentinel but he’s good with Dormammu. I quit using Arthur too. Hsien KO, then Haggar, dorm is my team. I would use Doom but I’m having some trouble doing his loops. I’m gonna try out this combo with him tonight.
You can get a lot more damage than that by just doing the normal loop in the corner and ending with level 3. Even from a crouching L starter you can get over a million damage.
I think what throws a lot of people off of his loop combos is the fact that everyone posting combos on the forum uses the 100% absolute max damage variations of everything. You can save yourself a lot of hassle by just doing a slightly different version with a simpler final relaunch.
example:
:d::l: :d: :d::h: :s: j.
j.:f::h: (airdash:df:) j.
land :d:
:d::h: :s: j.
j.:f::h: (airdash:df:) j.
land [standing
:s:] j.
j.:f::h: (airdash :f:) j.
j.:s: land OTG :h: :f::d::df::l: :d::df::f::atk:+:atk:
Pretty much the same as except for where I enclosed in brackets[], and you end the final air combo with j.S for the OTG into level 3.
In the video he lands and does another cr.M cr.H S for the final relaunch but the timing on this is much harder than it needs to be. I used to just land and immediately launch with forward H but I recently discovered that you can do standing M S and it is even easier and more stable, even if your execution for the rest of the combo was a bit sloppy, and you only lose a minimal amount of damage. When landing for the OTG H rocks level 3, the timing is kind of strict for the H but you can just mash it as you are landing and it will come out. You can also leave out the rocks and it will still combo for pretty much the same damage. When I did this combo at the the Arcade Legacy tournament people were getting so hype watching that it was almost distracting
sorry if this is messy and unclear, I wish marvel used the num pad notation. It’s so much easier to read and type
I can’t do that loop, I’ve been working on it too. Same with the Magneto loops. When I try to refly I either do it too late or snap in next character.
if we play sometime soon maybe I can try to help you figure it out or something. My uncle passed away this morning so I will most likely be busy with family stuff for a while.
Sorry to hear.
