I’m going to check out Gen Con with Indy tomorrow afternoon.
yeah i’m gonna be lurking around downtown during gencon this weekend too… gonna hit the arcade first and see if there’s any good comp or if i can chat with Vic… then me and my friends are gonna slip into the convention center solid snake style like last year and then surfing the crowd… heard they got a couple SF tournaments, T6 tournament, L4D2 tournament, comic trades, and cosplay strip poker… also gonna help my rapper buddy dish out a massive stack of mixtape CDs to whoever will take one
ah yeah here’s some tourneys i pulled from the schedule for anyone who care to know about em:
SSF4 tourney - Saturday at 2pm at the Egame Arena HQ
HDR tourney - Friday at 6pm at the Egame arena HQ
TvC:UA tourney - Thursday at 5pm at "
MvC2 tourney - Thursday at 7pm at the same place
I’ll be at Gencon Saturday doing the HDR tourney at 10 a.m. and the SSF4 tourney at 2 p.m.
Do you know how much it costs to get in/enter and what system is on?
I believe that it was $48 just to purchase a badge that will allow you into Gen Con. After that, it’s an extra $10 to get into the SSF4 tourney. According to Gen Con’s website, it will be ran on PS3’s.
Okay cool. 58 dollars is a little much for me so I’ll probably pass. We stopped in to take a look and they had it running on a projector that didn’t looks very good. Definitely playable though.
how’d you stealth into gencon mario?
We just walked around and didn’t go into any exhibit rooms. The game room we just went into for a minute and looked around then headed over to Tilt where there happened to be a really good Viper. They had T6 and SC on cab but the SSF4 looked distorted on the projector. If we actually entered something we would have had to get a badge I think.

gencon was meh… i got there too late to compete in any tournies but chasing the costumed nerd chicks around was fun… got digits from a chick dressed as either lilith or morrigan… couldn’t tell which

hey how did gen con ssf4 go? any good people show up? i was there on wednesday visiting a couple of friends from out of town, but i couldn’t make it back up on saturday for it. i also kinda didn’t want to pay $48 for a badge, lol
Ummm yeah. It was actually a VERY good tournament. I went 2 and 2, which considering I really just got into 4 with Super and play Juri, I felt pretty good. Kurasa of TvC fame was there repping Sakura pretty damn hard. I am happy to say that I won the HDR tournament Saturday morning 
so I repped for the home town.
There were probably about 40 entries for SSF4 which seems small but there were alot more people watching than playing because they didn’t think they could play ‘at a tournament level’ as I heard quite a few people say. I was also pleasantly surprised by the variety of characters played at the tournament. I saw some Fuertes (and good ones…), Makoto, Cody, Blanka (lots of blanka…), a couple boxers, bisons, akuma, i played Juri, a couple Giefs, a T.Hawk (who played well but got stuck in bad matchups…), the only characters I remember not seeing were Dee Jay, Rufus (which surprised me), Guy, and Dan. I think every other character was at least picked once.

Anyways, who here was all at the gencon SSF4 tournament? I was the fat black dude wearing Red using Akuma…THE ONLY AKUMA. Lol. We need to post some tags and junk, I got 20 LCD HD tv’s and I can rent us out some spots or whatever if you guys want to set up another tournament for Naptown, just message me please. We need the tournament increase in our scene quick.
Just spent 400 bux on my custom case built PS3/360 “Satsui no Hadou Stick” (Yeah, its been custom named…So what?) so I’m looking to break into some serious competition.
Yeah I think we met at GenCon, I was the Indy guy who played Juri. Yeah you had some bad luck at that tourney but you played pretty well. I hope I get to play with you again soon.
That stick must me super nice stick for that price. Have you posted pics in the “check out my stick thread”?
When I said break it in I meant to say break it in whenit gets here. I got it custom built by B15SDesigns. They have a youtube channle with a viewing of all their custom work. To which I’d supply you with a link IF not for the fact I’m poasting from my cell.
It’s a Gouki Satsui themed stick. See through semitsu buttons and a octagonal stick gate just like the ones used in some of the old school Hori sticks. Makes it easier for me to land Akumas crouching short, L-Tatsu, H-SRK, fadc, 3hit Hadouken.
ah damn… my boy kurasa was there?!? i shoulda definitely made it to compete i haven’t seen kurasa since last summer and i didn’t even catch a glimse of him while i was mobbing around the show floor… and from the sound of things i coulda wrecked shop with my killer bee… damn i hate the taste of regret

Lol Kurasa was my 1st opponet, and he played me smart with low shorts to fadc launcher U2s with Sakura. Sure I caught him in Demon setups but he was at the top of his game. Then since we didn’t have enough loosers I had to fight a winners semi finalist for my loosers match…No excuses.though, a good Akuma player would have smashed a Sakura and Ryu, although I did body a really good Honda.
So I’m waiting for one of you fantastic Naptown Players to throw another tournament asap…Since that loss I’ve been doing nothing but combo practice 8 hours a day…Next tourney I’m playing hella solid. No more dropped combo’s.
…Oh and thanks for the welcome. Got a lot of work to do before EVO next year.
^^^I’ll friend you on PSN to get some matches in. I don’t know about another tourney especially with SB5 coming up. If we do something it would probably be next year sometime.
