In indianapolis?
It’s in the same spot as the old gameworks in the mall downtown.
What fighting games do you all want?
They already have SSFIV, but they want to know what the Indy crew wants to play. They can put just about any next gen fighter in those cabs.
Street Fighter Alpha 1 or Street Fighter The Movie would probably work best. Wait. I dunno. Hehehe. I’m very glad to hear that things are going good already for the arcade! Hopefully there will be some more Indy tournaments there in the future or something.
SF:TM is godlike. I’m still looking for a (cheap) board. I really want to run a tournament for it.
I guess I’ll be there too. How is the 3s machine looking? Last time I was there one of the buttons was dropping inputs.
I haven’t checked it, but that is something that takes no time to fix.
Just a heads up:
They just got those machines in, so they aren’t ready for action yet.
I don’t want everyone to drive out there for nothing.
As far as tournaments goes, the new store owner (read, not the GM) is a huge fighting game fan.
I’d definitely talk $$$ with this guy. He may give you a better deal than what you guys got last time.
As far as games goes, is SSFIV the only game people want to play?
I’ll keep everyone updated.
I could make a huge list of games I would like them to have, but it wouldn’t be feasible
Realistically though, maybe BBCS when it gets released on consoles next month (I think).
If they could get Mushihime Sama Futari and Espgaluda 2 I would be very happy. They’re both region free on the Xbox 360 so they can be imported.
Not to sound like the old guy squealing in the corner about how no one plays it… but I’d love to see HDR in a cab… that’d be awesome.
That would be a crime. A cab needs ST
Oh god yes, im looking to get a real cheap 360 to mod so I can get Mushihime Sama Futari. That shit is SO cash.
You don’t need to mod it. The game was released without region codes.
Oh I know but I’m poor and don’t care about the 360 enough to buy a game for it. The purchase of the console itself is already more than what I’d prefer to pay.
Oh man come on! We’ve played enough HDR to know that ST is just starting to look dated on a cab, and lets be real. HDR whether people like it or not, is what we play for our SF2 fix in everywhere but Japan. Besides, I think HDR on a cab would look really nice…
I’ve got the arcade version of ST. Next Indianapolis tourney can run ST on arcade.
Great, give Brent another way to take our money in SF2. I can run with him in HDR… in ST he’d own me so hard…
HDR is piss ugly … plus idk after playing ST on cab again there really is something to people saying HDR is “off” compared to old SF2. I don’t hate a lot of the changes in the game or anything – the graphics are actually one of my least favorite parts about it, haha – I always wonder why since it’s generally run on CRT that everyone doesn’t play classic sprites.
I thought ST players were just being overly complainy until I got to play arcade ST this weekend for the first time in forever and see what WSOP Frank is always talking about for myself. I mean I’ll still play HDR some cos it’s used in tourneys, and it’s not some kind of abomination, but now that I have a board I won’t be fucking with HDR too often. I think you like it just because Cammy is better
Indy – that would be gdlk. For Summer Slam I’ll have an ST board there as well. It would be great to get ST more exposure with more machines popping up.
Do I need another reason? lol.
Nah, but I honestly prefer HDR over ST. It could be because HDR is what brought me back into fighting games in general and really introduced me to high end competitive level play so for me maybe its that feeling the OGs have in reverse if that makes sesne… but Remix Cammy is >>>>> than N. or O. Cammy every day of the week. I mean if ST were there as a tourney, I’d play.
I’ve sort of come to the reality though that if I don’t pick up Super seriously, I have no one to play with here in Indy, but I found a character I like and is feel worth learning outside of Makoto, which has to be the worst hack job Capcom has ever done to a character…
I got to play ST on cab quite a lot and I definitely agree that from a pure visual standpoint it looks better. The sprites in HDR just have a lot of problems with their animation etc. Udon are good comic artists but not good sprite artists and there is a big difference. The gameplay is good though, I’m not particularly good at ST though so I’m not going to pretend like I know what I’m talking about there.
Ghaleon: I’ve got the ST board and the 3s board but I’m reluctant to move my 3s board outside of my home because of how fragile that thing is. I’m going to look into phoenixing it so I don’t have to deal with the inevitable suicide.
Silver Rain: I hear you on Makoto; I was really looking forward to playing her in Super and was very disappointed when I actually played her.
