Indianapolis, IN: We do play games, I promise

okay you gotta call people out effenhoog cause i’m certainly not lazy and no way near cheap. Only brawl players are cheap, didn’t know this flow through the srk community I thought srk was all about money. I guess I was wrong.

I used a stereotype btw. Also effenhoog is right about certain things as in how we should take things slow and see how they work out.

btw natsu from SCV is one broken *****. I’m maining her now

I’m Indian so being cheap is just par for the course.

All I’m saying is that we have way more people in our community and yet so few of us are at Arsenal on even a semi-regular basis

I know it’s not the most amazing place ever in some ways, and sometimes people show up to play a specific game and hardly anyone is playing it that day, but it’s the best thing we have right now and a lot of other communities don’t even have that much going for them. Back before we had Arsenal it was maybe 3-5 of us at a time at Eric’s house, then when he left it was like 1 or 2 people at my house if anyone showed up at all, and once we started going to the arcade downtown it was maybe 8 people on a good day crowded around a couple machines and people barely got a chance to play. Now we have a public meeting place with free parking, regularly scheduled meetup times twice a week, and a good amount of room to accommodate us, and we’ve still had inconsistent attendance.

I’m not going to try to tell people what they should be doing with their free time, but for a midwest fighting game scene we have a pretty good thing going and a lot of people aren’t taking advantage of it.

As for being cheap I will call myself out on that because I am cheap as fuck

SCV is the truth. Love that game.

Yeah, I’ll most likely bring my PS3 and my ASUS monitor to play BB. I have Marvel and 3S but I’m too lazy to learn either of them lol.

Right now I’m just waiting for the BMV clowns to send me my damn new license plate. Can’t go anywhere with this old ass license plate. As for Indy being cheap, count me in. I just payed a whole bunch of shit and got laid off a while back so I’m dead broke right now lol. With that said, I can’t say I support the idea of having to pay to join a Ranbat. I believe that’s what MMs and tournaments are for. Ranbats are more for building rep, IMO.

can’t keep up… still alive though… ZAP is back?!?.. damn im sooooooo late

my opinion of SCV after playing it for a whole week… it’s okay… its just not BETTER than SC4… it’s a lateral move… the good news being that i can trounce 4/5 online players simply because they don’t know the flow of soul calibur games… they get all flustered when i put on pressure

Because people online don’t know how to block properly. Especially against my Sieg and roth. They think roth is a slow chara, so they try to smash him out, but I just give them the knee of justice and land that 90 free damage combo all the time. lol

let’s see how that astroth does against natsus broken ****

Lol Natsu is ridiculously good. Pressure for days. I wouldn’t put roth against natsu just yet.

my only problem with natsu is how much damage she can put out for being that fast with those mix ups. The ground pound thing she does into that grab is insane.

She’s going to be insane. Top tier no doubt. I was experimenting with her. She’s quick to raise the guard meter in a heartbreak, plus she can combo from her special.

Natsu has no dignity :stuck_out_tongue:

Heya, I live over in lafayette, and i was wondering when the next meetup / tourney night would be? I’m a little leery of ranbats, as much as i love to be competitive, my experience with them so far has consisted of driving to them, paying some money, and losing horribly as i get matched with the best guy there. are there any times where more people play casuals? I’d be willing to pay to play in a tourney, but not mahvel, i’m so free in that to anyone who knows what they’re doing.

SCV is hella awesome. nightmare / ivy / whoever so far. still learning. haven’t taken a soul calibur game seriously since 2. >_>

I can bring a 360 with BBCS, SCV, and UMVC3. no monitor unfortunately, i don’t have an xbox360 to vga or DVI cable.

To be honest we almost always just have casuals ranbats is kind of a new thing for us that we were thinking about doing.

Every Monday and Saturday night. Even if we do a ranbat it would just be on the side while we play casuals as usual. Saturday is probably the best night if you are driving down because we get to play a few hours longer and most people don’t have work the next day

We also have a tournament coming up soon but if you are just looking for casuals Saturdays are pretty good for our local scene.

Mah man, who do you play as in BB?

I swear to God if the fucking BMV doesn’t send me my plate by next week…

yeah, i realized that you guys kept posting the days like once every to every other page or so

I’d like to learn / get competitive at GG, I’ve always liked it, but it wasn’t until blazblue that i get the competitive bug, you know, where you start earning how to really play a fighting game. playstyles, zoning, mixups, etc. i still have a copy of XXreload, lol. I’ve only ever managed to play accent core once at an arcade. i suppose i should hit up dustloop’s GG side before next saturday.

I can’t make it out this saturday, friend’s birthday and all that, but i’m really looking forward to coming on down next weekend. I’ll keep checking in here to see what’s up. thanks for the speedy replies yall

edit* Tager main, for two and half years. I’m somewhat competent at several other characters, enough to do bnb’s and whatnot. but Tager has always been my first fighting game character that made me think. I dig the mindgame / reset / throw shenanigans a lot. makes me want to learn grapplers in other games, although cerebella looks hax as hell. but i have to be careful where i say that, or else mikeZ might kick my ass. lol.

also, derrr, you’re Zeth??? I sent you a message earlier tonight on the dustloop boards about that online league thing you talked about last month. it sounded hella cool. I’ve mostly lurked at dustloop for a couple years now. read fanatically, pretty much never post. >_>

Damn I wish I was going to arsenal today. Hate not having a working car.

Potemkin in Guilty Gear is pretty much the most powerful grappler character ever, he’s easily top 5 or 6 in the latest version. Basically everything Tager doesn’t have that keeps making him bottom tier, Potemkin has. If you are interested in learning the game I can teach you pretty much all the important basics about Potemkin sometime.

Or just about any other character, really.

Where and when is this tournament?
