Gg still going strong out here or not?
Yep, Tonight we had six people gaming it up on the GG station. fun timez
So I will be playing the game that must not be named since Juri is offiical. Like I wasn’t already separated enough from the rest of Indianapolis… oh well… good times.
No robot no buy
Anji getting better Ephraim?
Ya, I am alot more consistent with combos. From Frosty Faustings I realized I need to work on flagrant button mashing, reacting with the appropriate normals, and coming up with a play/setup/trap style. Anji has seems to have some kara-type combos and meaty-specific combos that I dont quite understand the properties of yet though.
So time to prove i’m the best again, but this time I heard wolfkrone is showing up… o_O this February. So after I beat him will you guys finally say i’m da best?
we already do say it. we all know Wolfkrone stands no chance. he’s never played vs. a Dudley player before so you’ll even have the element of surprise on him and the element of DIGNITY
Actually he does use dudley, I believe it’s his 2ndary.
nah Krone likes Rose after Viper… and Cammy after her… man Sean, y’know what makes players like Wolfkrone truly the best?.. i mean besides their skill, it’s their dedication… you see they actually go out and show up to tournaments and support gatherings … thanks for waking me up today tho

This thread needs music…
Wolf can’t beat the Renegade. He’s so good he challenges people to use their secondaries in games they hardly play anymore for money. That’s dignity right there.
Let’s MM in 3s and I’ll let you choose my character and I won’t use supers.
- radio announcer voice * … and Riot Guard fires back, staggering Renegade!
i should quit coming in here and encouraging him, but i’ve said all along i like him. he’s funny.
weather permitting it looks like a few of us are heading down to play with y’all this weekend. will be a good time. i want to get some KOF in if that is being played there. i think i’m actually going to enter this in the NTC tourney. will be fun to try!
Kyle or Ephriam either high level play to watch I’ve been watching a-chos vids of baiken. There so fast with her I can’t figure out what there doing in the combo but i want level her up and pick up a new character. Any suggestions? I gonna have to get me a ps2 stick pretty soon.
Kyle has said it well, in that time spent playing is the best advice. I dont have alot of time, so I have single-tasked on playing GG instead of trying my best at all the games at once.
There are a few approaches I have come to realize while playing over the past 7 months:
- Training Mode and learning what normals cancel into each other, what your normals/specials look like and how they make the char move, know how they make the char vulnerable (frame data: http://www.dustloop.com/guides/ggac/data/ac/select.html ). When practicing combos, the “Beat” (word that appears by combo number) will go from bright to dark when there was an opportunity for the opponent to tech out of the combo. Know what normals cancel into each other without dropping the Beat
- determine Normals that cancel into Specials, the BnB combos
- accurate Burst timing, Instant Air Dash, dont button mash in hopes of catching opponent.
- Indy has accurately put it; anyone can learn combos, but learning a play style and reactions is learning the game
- Frame Data may seem complex, part of it’s purpose is to display how your moves are safe or not safe, either on block, whiffed, and even on hit. understanding this should keep you from leaving yourself open
- alot of the combos displayed in the vids will be situational specific; counter hit, in corner, caught opponent in air, ground to air combo. when watching try to measure what situation is occurring. knowing on the fly when you are approaching a situation, and to go for the combo for that situation is when you start leveling up your reaction.
- use normals/specials to react to opponent.
- know when and which normals/specials can punish opponent during or at an opening in their combo string
- reaction is key, and watching how the opponent reacts to your style as well.
- Intentionally creating a situation where you can do a setup is where you can see on screen you are taking control of playing the game, and not just mindlessly doing combos
- generally after this point it gets very high level
- RC & FRC points, when to use them, using them for mixups, continuing a combo string, letting you escape an unsafe frame situation
- making opponent guess
- knowing match ups.
hope that helps
I’ve seen high level players do combos that i don’t 100% understand yet but her main basic combo is some sort of ground string like 5S 5H tatami mat, then follow up with an air combo like j.P j.S j.D. If you are in the corner you can airdash after the j.D and get another j.S j.D. With 25% meter you can FRC the tatami mat which is an easy FRC to learn and skip the j.P in the air combo and just go straight to j.S j.D, in some situations you have to FRC it to get the combo and skipping the j.P will reduce damage scaling in the overall combo so its often a good idea.
If you hit with Baiken’s far 5S you can cancel it back and forth between 5S and 2S until they get pushed too far away, this is basically all you can do if you hit far 5S while playing footsies. If you hit with 2H you can combo into sweep and either combo that into tatami or just take the knockdown and go for a mixup. Keep in mind she has free alpha counters and they can be really good for escaping mixups and corner pressure but don’t get too predictable or you will get baited.
My Baiken is not amazing but it’s good enough to compete with our local group so I can show you stuff next time if you want.
alright figured i would register to find some people to play against in indianapolis! you guys meet at arsenal when? i’ve seen a few different days and times just skimming the thread so I wanna be sure
Monday 5pm-10pm and Saturday 5pm to midnight
We are meeting tonight. If you care about UMVC3 there’s a chance Clockwork might be there tonight, he was there last week. He was in town for work but I don’t know if he’s still here or not.
Maybe someone else who actually knows can confirm it, but regardless it should be a good session tonight.
ah cool that works out pretty great
i’m not very good at UMVC3 at all but i can be a mean punching bag
