Indianapolis Gameworks Tourney - Indianapolis, IN - 08/11/07

Best. Tourney. Ever.

This was the first tourney I’ve been to (that other one no longer counts) and I’ve never had that much fun playing a fighting game, ever.

Dave/Nunez/Brent: As always, it was nice playing against you guys. I don’t want to wait till the next tourney to fight again though, so we should set something up in the near future. Thanks for coming out, and ggs to all.

GHALEON: Thanks for bringing out your gear, and putting me into the losers:arazz:
I can’t complain at all though…I just got shot…multiple times…and then…died…

Your Marvel skills are solid man. It was good meeting you. We will give plenty of notice before our next tourney, I guarantee it.

REX: Your that beastly Marvel pad player right? Well, now that I’ve experienced that first hand I have a lot more respect for pad players in general. All I could do is watch my team die slowly.

I’m glad you liked the place. Definitely come back out.

Matt? 2nd Place Marvel player: Your a monster man. Ohio is fucking serious. I had no idea the Midwest had this kind of talent.

DerekLearnslow: Congrats on winning Marvel. It was evident as soon as we saw you play who was going to take it. Thanks for taking the time to play some casuals after the tourney. We have got to play again soon. I want to win at least one match against you after all. The way you read people is crazy. Mad respect, and good games.

Your MSS>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>><mine.

I finally got to experience high level play first hand, and that shit is hella inspiring. I’ll be practicing like mad till our next tourney, and a lil sleep before hand may not be such a bad idea.

If I missed anyone, no offense. Peace.

ya i deff. understand.
i did show you that i had 2$ before hand (though i only had 1$ when we played.) lol and you also heard derek say he would spot me. it wanst me that didnt know i could do it. and i never garunted that he would spot me.
i accepted cause i just wanted to play you anyways. your kim is nice i must say and fun playing i look forward to some match’s next time.

Man, don’t ever stiff people on an MM, because you get a bad rep really really fast that extends beyond the game. Plus it’s just shitty, even if you were just playing for a few bucks. Dave is one of THE coolest people I’ve met in all of fighters, seriously, so for him to be upset over fighters I think really takes something.

I mean thanks for the words in your post, but accepting MMs and either backing out is kind of lame, and wayyy worse is flat out not paying after a loss. As much as a lot of the EC/WC people seem to dislike each other, and that shit is serious, they still pay up (because physical violence would ensue otherwise). If you’re going to be apart of the scene that’s at least something you really need to understand, because outside of bad feelings, you stiff the wrong person and you don’t know what’s gonna happen. You can’t just accept an MM because you wanted to play someone and oh well if you lose.

I’m sure it sounds silly to you to be all serious over a couple dollars, but that’s how it is if you want people to get along w/ you and trust you, gotta come through even on that small scale.

Sorry to get involved, but I mean that’s gotta be said. Playing for fun is totally fine, but leave the cash off the table then.

edit: I hope you think about paying for that match next time you meet up.

this tourney was pretty good. the setup was great and thanks to gameworks and the tourney director for making it happen (sorry i was so impatient about getting my money!).

gary, your patience in cvs2 is good, learn a few more ins and outs of the more common matches and you’ll get a lot better. dave, brent, chris (ghaleon), tim (crono_marle), rex, derek, and everyone i’m forgetting, good to see you and meet new people again. i had to get back to lexington so i couldn’t stay for as long as i wanted to.

josh (tetsuAKA), you’re a really chill guy and it was nice meeting you. i guess in the future, don’t accept big money matches if you don’t intend to play them. i was under the impression i was going to play a 4/7 set for $100, then we only play 3/5 for $5. see how that’s kind of shitty? i’m almost glad rusty didn’t come because he would’ve been even more disappointed for driving 5 hours each way and not getting his big money match. i’m sorry i even have to bring that up, but i feel it must be said. and saying it in person at the tournament would have accomplished nothing because you already told me you didn’t have the money, so i didn’t want to press the issue. again, it was great meeting you and i wish we could have played more.

PEACE

Daniel: Good games in CVS2, to be honest I almost did not enter CVS2 because I haven?t played that game in so long. Thanks for coming I learn a few things from you. Also good job on those RC?s

Ghaleon: Good stuff, I need to play your RYU more so I can handle him better next time.

Mario: close matches and nice sportsmanship.

Tim: I know that match was pretty close from what I remember you beat one of my character with jumping rh .02 of a sec. left.

Brent: thanks for coming I think we both save like $30 to $40 on gas and parking.

Dave: good games, I think you place well in the tournament.

Jon: those Brackets were very handy.

Dereck: did you find your car, I tried to call you but the number that I have doesn?t work.

The indy crew thanks for running the tournament, I think you guys did a great job.

Humbag: Nice to finally meet you I heard about your Dudley from Deadpool. Also that Urien player was pretty funny. Also tell him thanks for the unblockable tips.

Tetsu: good games also

Anyone else I miss? Just post up and I will reply back

Gary

It was a great time and I had fun chatting with everyone there. I gotta say thanks to everyone that brought stuff and everyone that helped get this thing going. Also a big thank you to anyone that taught me stuff along the way, I came away having learned a lot of new tricks and you can bet that I’m going to be training hardcore so that I’ll be better next time. Marvel Finals were crazy as hell and same goes for the 3s. So a big shout out to everyone that showed up and I look forward to playing with you all again.

Good times and good tourney. The competition was much better this one although I’m suprised more people didn’t come out… maybe next time though.

Tim- Good seeing you, glad the controller helped out. I can’t believe we only had one match.

Ghaleon- You’re much better than when I played you in Chicago. I don’t even think I one around against you this time.

Gary- Fun MM’s. I had a blast even though I lost 20 bucks to you.

Dave- I only lost 5 to you but I would do it again… if you play twelve that is.

Nunez-What’s the deal man, we only got two matches in. I guess i’ll just have come down to Bloomington then. Maybe you could teach some more techniques for beginner’s marvel.

Popablo- Scary chun.

Mike- Fun Urien mirror matches.

Tetsua- Fun tourney match, it’s crazy we randomly kept getting matched against each other.

Dereck-Thanks for putting it all together and hailing that gigantic militant stick of yours. I gained about 2 pounds of muscle mass just from caring it around.

On a another note- we should have some kind of balance on the games being played in casuals. For awhile there was no 3rd strike being played while there were two tv’s being used for cvs, one for turbo and 2 for marvel. Even after the tourney cvs was still on a tv that would have been great practice preparing and feeling out the competition for 3rd strike. I had to go all splinter cell and sneak my way on to a tv after an hour of just watching to set up 3rd strike. Same with marvel . I knew if I tried to put 3rd on one of the tv’s i would have been promptly guided towards some kind of torture device.

ya i deff. feel you ghaleon its all good. i agree with that in every way but i must say i was almost sleeping when we talked. dave is deff. a really cool guy thats for sure.
im sorry dave i couldnt get you all the money i really wasnt even thinking about it, i was so out of it ready to fall on the ground and go to sleep i wasnt paying attention i was pretty much like “ya sure lets play for 5$ derrek will back me up”.
next time we see eachother ill throw 8$ to ya for my mistakes. i dont want to create issues over something small im sorry dude.
next time lets get in more than 1 game in if thats cool, and some 3s also. i hadnt played cvs2 in so long it was rediculous, it was my faults i tried going into the tourny with no practice in months besides 3s thinking id be alright if i got some warmup (which i didnt really warm up anyways. >.<)

popablo - ya rent came up and i had only 40$'s to spare going into the tournament. i totally misjudged how much money id have going into the tournament. it was actually the night before the tourny when my cousin came to me about rent, which pretty much fucked all my MM’s up (which im thankfull for to be honest i would have lost ton’s of money…:wasted:). i shouldnt have even entered cvs2… i knew from the beginning when i started playing crono_marle and was missing cc’s and trying alpha2 tick throws i wasnt gonna be able to do shit in cvs2 without mad practice. my rc’s were so weak it was sad, i was missing rc’s and rolling into death.
if i would have stuck with C groove and practiced before hand we would have had some decent match’s i think. none the less your still a much much better player than me and it was great playing you. awesome execution and ill be practicing for the next time we get to play eachother.
also gonna get rid of that shitty competition stick and get jap parts.

Could anybody post what characters/teams were used? Just curious.

hmmm, i didn’t see the 3rd place match, but gary used A-sakura/bison/blanka or A-blanka/sakura/bison, and i used A-maki or eagle/bison/blanka for the entire tournament. and since i only stayed for cvs2, that’s all i’ve got!

peace

Popoblo - just ask LearnSlow, that if you and I ever hook up in CvS2 again…I got a roll cancel with your name on it! Thanks for playing 3S, I think that is the first time we have played so let’s try it again.

NKI - already plotting some adjustments for our next matchup. Who knows, if I can qualify out of my pool, maybe August 25th on a big screen in Vegas will be my time to shine against you. :wgrin: But thank you for coming down.

Mario - someone already mentioned it but I believe you are getting better at 3S. Keep it up dude.

Derek - thanks for coming buddy and congrats on your victory.

Matt - I don’t know if you post on here but congrats on your showing and thank you for making the MvC2 finals the matchups to watch, as it was always very exciting.

Rex - gg’s in all the tournaments we played. I think we are out of our league in CvS2 but oh well. Hahaha.

Ghaleon - congrats on your performances that night and I will be seeing you and cheering you on in Vegas. I sure don’t expect to qualify from my pool in 3S but who knows and then perhaps we can hook up in the main bracket. Give us the big screen on the big stage baby!!!

Tetsuaka - thanks for coming out and playing dude. Nice looking stick you had there. And just remember what folks are telling you about the money matches. If you agree to them you have to follow through from now on no matter what the size but I don’t think it’ll be a problem again. See you next time hopefully and we’ll play 3S.

Deryck - the tournament host with the most…congrats on running things so well and I really mean that. This might have been one of the best run tournaments I’ve seen based on speed anyway. What you did is impressive. Glad we played MvC2 again and we’ll hook up in the future for sure. Next time you won’t be so lucky to get away without facing Amingo.

Joe - nice job from what I seen. I hope you find good competition in Mississippi because with a bit more experience you will find yourself doing incredible things at MvC2. I hoped I could fare a bit better against you but after seeing your matches with Ghaleon and then losing 2 straight as the night finished up it was clear I was out of my league against you. Enjoy yourself down south!

Schmee - Anakin Skywalker’s mother? I couldn’t help but think of that each time. Sorry, probably bringing back painful memories of getting teased in school. But gg’s at 3S, I think that is what all we played. Haha. I will hopefully see you at the next Columbus tournament.

Ray - sorry we didn’t get to play but yes if you have some sort of get together, or even just the next tournament that comes around, I would really like to play at MvC2. I really do not know if we’ve played yet or not. After seeing you play Derek some matches I think I’m in a bit over my head but that never stops me from trying or thinking otherwise. Haha.

Indy - last but not least, thanks for letting me borrow your stick for SSF2T. Things would have went worse for me if I was stuck with my stick. I’m a bit afraid of how things might go heywire at Evo but whatever, I gotta do what I gotta do. I’ll send you a PM asking about the maker of your stick and maybe some other stick builders that you know of. See you around and keep practicing. I saw you were learning some Ken stuff later in the night and sometime you will have to check out some cool Oro stuff. :wgrin:

MARVEL Finals

DerekLearnslow (MSS - Anak/Storm/Sonson) - Matt (MSS)

Derek wins 4-2

3S Finals

GHALEON Ryu SA3 - Gary Ken SA3

GHALEON wins 4-0

I missed ST. Anyone, feel free to chime in.

DerycktheCid: I didn’t even realize you got gyped until the tourney ended. Next time, I’ll take trade with you so you can get some casuals in as well.

This went really well, so hopefully our home office will take notice, and up the ante. Nothing like a nice prize cough Next Gen System cough :wgrin: to motivate people.

Hehe this is why i dont do money matches that much. For one i always play like crap in them and two even though money is on the line in the tourny, i hate the feeling of loosing mms lol.

Once again it was great coming out.

Im suprised i got 4th by how poor and random i was all day. I kinda settled down later when i was gettin good casuals with Chris and Gary.

See most yall at c-bus in october!

ST was NKI’s Chun vs. Brent’s Vega, 4-0? Correct me if wrong.

Gary also used Yun one game in 3s GFs.

Yeah, IN is pretty close to C-bus, so I hope to see a lot of you in Columbus on 10/20  We’re reposting the thread this week, shit will be BIIIG. A chance to get some training mode vs. Justin Wong and co.

ghaleon i really hope you beast on justin, your ryu is good enough i believe. i heard about him beating you with sean in the last tourny but from what mario told me your 235234623079 times better now. so im deff. rooting for you and i hope to make it to watch.

Ill definately vouch for Chris improving a shit ton lately. Now if only i can improve a lot haha.

I kinda hope i play Justin again. The first time i played him i did pretty well taking a round or two against him but he seriously is that good heh.

Im really looking forward come october, specially if Combofiend comes.

i most deff. plan on making it to the tourny in october.
ill be ready for this one.
