Both USF4 and SFV are half assed cash ins.
i enjoyed 4 more to be honest.
both games have gameplay related things which i like/dont like but the overall lack of polishing and care
while trying to milk their loyal customers as much as possible in SF5 just killed it for me to some degree.
I bought it, i cant give it back or resell it(pc), so i will continue to play it till a other fighting game arrives
to wich i can switch to.
i have hige hopes for t7 but i try to dampen my expectations to not get disappointed again as i got with sfV.
SFV by miles and miles. I fucking hated SFIV. Focus Attacks were the dumbest shit (mainly because I couldn’t use them properly). Vortices out the ass. Fuerte and Ibuki were basically Mika, only way, way dumber. DPs being safe on block if you had meter. Ultras were the dumbest super mechanic I can think of off the top of my head and had cinematics that laster for-fucking-ever. Everything about Seth, from his design to his YOLO 50/50 gameplay. Elena. Just… Elena.
It’s the graphics… I can’t get passed them…
While look at 3rd strike for example the game still looks beautiful till this day…
If they ever release a HD version of 3S on the PS4 with a solid online play I’ll be all over that… in fact I’ll play that over > SF5
Not SF4…

Oh man, I would give anything to see that!
Both are trash
I only play SFV cause MvCI isn’t out yet and because it has the most competition atm
E- actually I gotta admit I prefer SF5 to 4
I certainly preferred the neutral game in SFIV to neutral in SFV, though the offensive game in SFIV can go eat a dick.
Honestly, if asked to pick a favorite SF, I’d pick both ST and 3rd Strike over both of them in a heartbeat, but if it’s only between IV and V, I’d go for IV.
IV is more technical then V because of the OS’s and tech that was discovered or just being discovered. IV was a play ground for system junkies.
But there’s allot about it that’s kinda eh. I do think it’s fun to watch at high level.
That being said IV is old news and I would never invest time in that game like I would older SF titles.
Just stick with 5 unless you hate it.
Do you choose SF5 over Ultra sf4?
Yes. Simply because I hate the very idea of option selects and SFV is trying VERY hard to abolish them.
By the time sfv hits 7 years like sf4 it will be op
But there’s allot about it that’s kinda eh.
I’m starting to think y’all are just trolling me at this point.
Both are good in their own ways, but I am more satisfied with winning and losing in SFV over USF4. Damage is more bursty and it’s not as slow as people were penning it early on.
I would still play USF4 casuals or wherever it popped up because there’s still major fan service characters on the roster.
People salty about USF4 cuz they didn’t play a timeout, vortex, or useful with FADC type characters (lol)
SFV is incredibly cut and dry. Characters have been largely homogenized for the sake of balance which makes for a boring game in my opinion. Footsies resemble rock paper scissors due to stubby normals and input delay which Capcom has stated they don’t plan on fixing. I wasn’t a huge fan of SFIV but I found it more fun overall. It was without a doubt a broken game, but there was so much to learn about the it, unlike V. Play guilty gear instead.
USF4 really wins in the characters category. Not really in love with how anybody in V’s roster plays. Both games are fun though.
I actually prefer SFV. I like playing it a lot. A lot more than I did SFIV. I can’t really explain why. The links play a role in it but not that much. I have almost all versions of SFIV but Omega. Each version was an attempt to get into the game. I really like Oni for instance and high level Oni play is amazing. But no matter what I tried, I just don’t like SFIV.
SFV, I like playing Nash, Alex, Urien, Guile, and Akuma. I have some interest in Laura and Cammy as well. I have never liked such a variety of characters in SF ever before. I don’t like the short combos and the lacking moveset everyone has. I miss the special cancel normals that are gone. Like Akuma’s far Fierce, Ryu’s stMK and so on. And I find SFV Ryu boring as shit. BORING. Yet I just enjoy SFV a lot more. To be honest, SFV matches pale in comparison to SFIV’s matches. Daigo? Boring as shit in SFV. SFIV? His Ryu and Evil Ryu are amazing. You can’t help but get hype. Even Snake Eyez’s Gief is more exciting in SFIV.
I’d rather watch SFIV but play SFV.
For me personally, SF4 looks and feels like garbage after having played SFV. So SFV all the way.
I can’t really say I like either of them.
If I had to pick, I’d say ST or 3s and not play either SF4 or SFV.
SF4 is a muddle mess of overly technical “stuff” for the sole purpose of saying “I’m technical”…kind of like when someone uses big words that make no sense in context and just makes them sound stupid instead.
The FADC to me, fundamentally changed the game and ruined it for me.
SFV, on the other hand, is lost in its own world of frame traps. Watching (or playing) a SFV match is like watching a scripted series of events. Sfv basically takes the art of reads and prediction throws them out the window in favor of the mathematical equations that create frame traps. It’s almost as if the better mathematician wins at sfv as opposed to the player who has developed better reading and prediction skills. This makes SFV infuriatingly frustrating to lose at…salt on the level of Injustice.
The best way to describe losing at SFV is like losing to a bad call by a referee or an umpire. You KNOW he was wrong, HE knows he was wrong, and the entire stadium knows he was wrong…and there isn’t a thing you can do about it.
If you want a satisfying SF game, play ST or 3s.
SFV by miles and miles. I fucking hated SFIV. Focus Attacks were the dumbest shit (mainly because I couldn’t use them properly). Vortices out the ass. It depends. I know Elena, Seth, Yun, Fuerte were way dumb to play against, but let’s be honest bro: at high level, their matches were simply astonishing to watch. Pepeday with Fuerte, Bee with Elena, Daigo with Yun, Poongko with Seth… all of them used to draw enthusiastic applause.
Plus, SF4 used to show up a precious stuff that I still miss hard in V: lively community. I don’t know how exactly, but I feel the community in V is kind of fragmented/dispersed.
Frame data isn’t really complicated and doesn’t require equations.
SFV is definitely about reads over everything else and that’s sort of why I find it so boring.
