Tried a cider that is new to the area. Johnny Appleseed. It’s sweeter and tangier than others I’ve tried. It almost candy sweet but it has a nice, dry finish. Will drink again.
Pfft, fuck Hoboken. They were all about major beers until recently. New York has been doing this way longer and is better at it. I’d rather take the PATH over and visit the bars in Manhattan.
I don’t drink.
But out of curiosity, a couple nights ago I took some sips of whiskey(Crown Royal) that I found around my house. It tasted awful, it stung my throat, and it got my heart racing as well as swelling around my whole face.
Yet it gave me a warm sensation and kept me alert as I was finishing up some writing at 2:30am…
When I finally went to sleep, it felt kind of blissful.
Dundee Honey Brown Ale is the best one I’ve had of brown ales. Made right near me in New Hampshire. Rogue’s brown ale is a strong second. Past that is a pileup of randoms that are all miles better than Newcastle.
Best IPA I have ever had is the Full Throttle Double IPA. I’m not sure where it’s made but it’s fairly uncommon in the northeast. So damn good. After that is Smuttynose’s Finest Kind IPA. Distant second, but a very good unfiltered IPA. One that’s regularly available around the country is Harpoon’s standard IPA.
Best stout in the world, and it’s not even close, is Thirsty Dog’s Siberian Night. After that is probably either Founders’ Breakfast Stout or Left Hand Milk Stout, depending on my mood.
