Improving my mental game

Lately I’ve been trying to improve my mental game, since I’ve always struggled with that.

Usually I write down what I want to look out for in the next matches. A Cammy SFV example: "How does my opponent behave when I do cMP cMP on block and then follow it up with a cMK?"
I see real improvements, but it feels like I’m taking forever to add these things to my gameplan without being distracted by the task itself.
Is this why “getting good” is so time consuming?

When you say “the task itself,” what is the task you’re referring to? The frame trap with Cammy, or trying to predict your opponent? If it’s the frame trap, then you really need to go into training and set the dummy to random block so you can grind it until it becomes second nature.

Imo this frame trap can’t really be confirmed off of. In order to combo after the cMK you need a read or luck.

What I mean by task is having to remind myself to put myself and the opponent in these situations. The execution isn’t the problem. It really just is the mental aspect

To guarantee a combo off of cr.MP, cr.MK, you need a counterhit. You can counterhit confirm off of the second cr.MP with some practice. I wasn’t really referring to that though, I was just talking about practicing the frame trap if you need to learn to do it without thinking.

Ok gotcha. It does take time, but playing against people who are better than you tends to speed up the process. Instead of playing ranked, try making a battle lounge and setting the description so higher rank players will join.

My example was referring to cMK being the only move that does damage. cMK is the trap here.
I can confirm off of counter hits :> don’t worry.

Yea, I do need to play more lounge matches. Long sets are a weak point of mine.
I recently found a good Alex player while browsing Twitch. Finally I can practice this matchup.
