I wish they didn’t try and fix things that aren’t broken. Trying something new is good but the ui is confusing if both players have full bar/close to full starting the 2nd and third rounds. Resetting back to round 1 positions would be simpler like they did for every other game.
Maybe if between rounds the characters just stood up and backed up to reset that could be a better break than going blank screen and resetting everything but the character side. If both players start in the middle of the screen anyways why does it matter that they need to start on the side they left off?
It sounds small from a spectator view but as the player it’s just another thing you have to consider that is kind of not needed info to keep in the back of your mind. The point of staying on your side and starting would make sense if screen position was considered like one player starting closer to a corner or not depending on where the last round finished. But they flat out start you in the middle with switched positions for no other reason other than they can do it that way now.
A design decision that adds confusion with no tactical application.
My guess they did that due to stage transitions. Say you’re p1 and send p2 to the restaurant in the China stage, doesn’t make sense that you’re back at p1 position. I don’t mind the feature, it’s just that because round transition isn’t fluid it adds a lot of unnecessary confusion so I’d rather they get rid of it.
Never thought about it that way otori, good catch. Given the lack of any other stage transitions, you have to wonder if they’ve abandoned the idea entirely. Union Station looks like it could have transitions (bathroom), so does Forgotten Waterfall (cave), but Kanzuki Estate, Lair of the Four Kings, etc etc – these stages don’t look like they have blatant transitions. You have to wonder if they’ve scrapped the idea entirely. Perhaps they originally intended it to be an actual gameplay feature instead of purely aesthetic.
I kind of wish they did non-transition stage enders only on win. It doesn’t really make sense that you put someone on a bus and then they’re back fighting again.
That shit is fine when the whole match is over yeah.
But for end of round? It just adds a little extra time for no reason. After you’ve seen it twice it’s just annoying.
One thing that scares me about the beta: no lobbies for ranked so far. Maybe this is a measure to prevent boosting, but I care far more about getting runbacks. That or at least give us a BO3 format that RT and KI are using.
They had fight request arcade mode in SF5, would be crazy if they had fight request story mode, but it’s okay if they don’t have it, that’s just me getting really asky for unneeded things.
I would like and have hope that the game will evolve/develope with each season. So that way the community can grow at the same rate. This what I think they intend to do with makeing the launch of sf5 very strict on fundamentals and having everyone start at this level. Once most people spend enough time with these things we go to the next level and add more tools to the box.
So the next season might intro more combo(like some of the stuff from the original trailers with Ryu and chun and betas) potienal and 3xlight chains into to specials(better hit confirms safer mix up/poking range). Alternate v-cancles so for example there is a defensive/escape/get off me option or offensive/setup. Things like this imo would keep the game pretty entertaining over the next 4-7 years on top of the grind/play to unlock mechanic and just developing your skill
I want to see like a finite amount of championship belts that you can win from people in ranked matches. It’ll be a little icon next to your fighter handle or whatever. It’ll say “TITLE MATCH!” in ranked if you face someone with at least 10 ranked wins in a row or something.
Maybe they could have unique capcom-distributed belts that could only be lost in a major or capcom-run online exhibition match.
I had a few people rage quit on me and as a result I wasn’t rewarded any LP. If they aren’t going to punish rage quitting, I hope they’ve at least figured out a way to get the winner their points.
