Yeah I agree with KoF 2002, though IMO they should’ve picked KoF 2003.
Anyways I’m also hoping that Darkstalkers 3 would make it.
Mr Wizard sorry for the delay. I was trying to get to you through XTG but I havent seen him lately. If you want to PM me your address I will send it to you this week. Also We are having another tourney this Sunday and I will send you some more footage. I know that KOF at EVO is thanks to you, and for me and my team asking you so much for it. Hopefully everything goes well. My team and I are working on taking 3 NEO-GEOS and 6 sticks to evo for those who would rather play the AES if thats cool with you.
That actually sounds interesting.
Will there be any side tourneys? it would be great to actually
play the original arcade version instead of the console one.
the event will be on ps2, or xbox depending on the version that comes out in a few months. If i wanted to use AES, i would have put neowave in the voting lineup. Arcade hardware is too difficult to deal with, and thus will not be used.
kof2k2 guys come on kepp em coming!!!
Texas woohoo!!!
KoF02 and Vampire Savior has got my vote, too. If I’m in the area, I may even join (translation: donate) to show some support. BTW, I heard that the PS2 version of KoF02 was not very true to the arcade. Can someone verify this?
As for side tourneys, it’s my understanding that Answer and others will be holding a few like 02 (if it doesn’t get enough votes) and Garou like last year.
Its so nice to see that out of all the voting games on the line up this game has gotten more post than any other. Come on guys keep it up it seems that this going to be for real.
Now about the PS2 version, its true that its not arcade perfect. That is why I was suggesing the neo-geos, they dont require Superguns or anything like that. Its just like a Supernintendo but slightly bigger
Hopefully we can have both for every body who feels more comfortable playing on them. We would happily share our MAS sicks to help run the event on Neo-Geos or in both systems.
I’ve offered a full KOF’02 MVS kit to be used for this tourney,
as well as harware, however, it looks like they want to go with
the console version.
well the mvs requires a supergun and its kind bulky so I understand what Wizard means. In the other hand the Neogeo is slightly bigger the a SNES and its very easy to install.
Use an AES system, much easier to use and it is the original arcade format for home use. The PS2 port AND the XBOX ports are not the same. If people are offering to bring their AES systems then they should be used rather than the inferior current generation console versions. (Loading times etc…)
There is no installation problems either as the Neo geo AES system is just like any other home system, you just need to plug it in to the power socket, insert the AV Cables then you are away. (PS - If you guys do bring the AES, you should use Hori Fighting Sticks as the controllers of the original AES “Old-style” sticks aren’t really competition worthy.)
Oh yeah, I am voting for KOF 02!
I can offer a homecart of KOF’02 so that it can be used for the
tournament also. However someone will have to bring an AES
system, because I don’t have much space in my luggage, other
than for maybe a game, and my massystems joystick.
02 right hurrr i havn’t played on a snk cab in years so it doesn’t matter to me

I’m voting KOF 2k2. correct me if I am wrong but I have not heard of any problems with the PS2 port so EVO can use that.
Thats great man, hopefully we can have it on AES.
Firt and most important, I believe that you can get DIZZY on the PS2 version and in the AES no so thats a big difference.
And its not like you can make a rule of not hiting your opponent when he is dizzy.
General Rules (apply to all tournaments)
No macro buttons allowed. This means you cannot assign special commands, throws, soul charge, roman cancel, burst, etc… to a 1 button input. However you are allowed to map the buttons to your liking, for example assign Left Kick to a pad shoulder button.
That’s the only problem I can think of with KOF2002 for the PS2. The game has some macro’s activated as default for Emergency Evasion/Fallbreaker, MAX activation and Knock Back Attack. You can only re-map them to a new button but you can’t map them off the controller.
For the game to enter Evolution this rule will have to not apply to KOF2002.
Thats another good point. With the neogeos there is no problem with that cause there are only 4 buttons working
That’s another reason. KOF with 6/8 buttons, is not KOF IMO.
But I guess the people behind Evo have the last word.
Is anybody else able to bring another AES system.
Why are you even trying, the tournament will not be on AES
