I think his EX demon palm has lower body invincibility and it’s safe on block. It’s one of his wake up option. The normal demon palm is a very good pressure and frame trap tool as well. The distance is exactly the same as his kara throw.
For AA, he has so many options with hp, down + hp, f+ hp , f+hk, that srk is not the best AA i feel. If you want 2 hits AA on srk, u have to hit it very late, like fei’s flame kick.
I honestly think that oni needs time to figure out and he’s far from being low tier in my opinion.
- Very strong and versatile normals, they r fast as well.
- Good kara throw
- Ambigious cross up with j. HK in the corner, can go both sides depends on when you press hk.
- Solid stun and damage with his combos, also easy hit confirm , c. lk ,s.lp, c.hp i think it’s a 3 frames link. It’s actually easier then c. lk c.lp c. hp.
- Not the best wakeup options, but still better then a lot of the cast
I think he can be devastating in the right hand. can probably stun someone with one mixup.
Ya akuma’s old style super where he jumped into the air and came down pounding his opponent into the ground was called misogi. This move is just that but not instant and dealing 60%+ life. Not going to learn the real name. It IS misogi : )
I’m trying to tell what moves have advantage and what moves people just are respecting too much or if I’m not timing the followups perfectly afterwards. Any of his moves advantage on block except jabs and cr. MP?
The lk version does more damage than the mk version: 130 damage opposed to 100. The mk version can juggle from an FADCed SRK which is it’s only redeeming quality.
Evil Ryu’s stomps are like this also: his lk stomp does more damage, but his mk juggles.

OOPS, guess I forgot that a public forum about a character is no place for my opinion about that character. I guess I’ll just keep to my noble self in representing this low-tier. I only meant to validate me predictive abilities, but I guess you called me on it. I wasn’t asking if I was missing something, I just wanted to prove to everyone how well I could handle this low-tier character through my wall of text. You’re right though, I haven’t played the game for very long, but that doesn’t mean I can’t give my initial opinion on things. Regardless, we’ve all become accustomed to the SFIV system now through playing it for almost four years, and I think it is fairly easy to tell what makes a good character with this system. I don’t understand why people think that pointing out character flaws has no place here. Part of getting better is learning Character weaknesses. I may have been ranting, but I think a lot of the stuff I posted was quite valid. Oni has a sweet spot that is very hard to maintain. How are people maintaining that sweet spot? How are people applying pressure? That’s the stuff I’d like to know because I think it is pretty challenging. Sorry for wasting your time with another wall of text, but I think it’s pretty funny to be called out on stuff like character experience by someone who doesn’t even have the console version yet.
I’ve played the game since its release at the arcades, and played oni for about 2 months longer than you did(sure, he’s not my main but i still play him a lot more than you). Not so funny now isnt it?

Yeah, I’m sure that playing Oni every now and then in the arcade for two or three games is worth a lot more than legitimate training mode time with the character. Whatever, I don’t really care to continue this. I pointed out some glaring character flaws, and I’ll keep an eye on this thread to see if someone sorts out how to deal with those effectively.

He might actually be able to get around the zoning with his air movement options. The MP one has a hitbox on it.
Oni seems fun, he wants to be at mid range pestering them to jump into his stupidly invincible SRK at most times. Also dunno if it’s known but I found a decent hit confirm for him: cr.LK cr.LP b+MP HP HCF+LK FADC b+MP HP HP SRK
Oni doesn’t seem like a offensive character at all, but I think he’s all about capitalizing on mistakes until you land a knockdown and his AA game is really solid. Other than that he plays like chun li or dhalism, but shoto-fied, I suppose imo
Side note: I think you can meaty with his HK misogi (palm slam) off of his AA cr.hp or st.hp, not sure if this is useful
