I'm no longer a Mod

Meh, I think Mr. W simply has to be a bit final in his decisions to make a statement. I love Joon and what he’s done here, and hopefully he’s a mod again in the future, but you have to read the guidelines and rules before disciplining. Joon simply learned that the hard way, and that post seemed lighthearted fun at best, so it wasn’t a good post to really discipline him with.

Just learn from it, grow, and move on…everyone knows you did a good job here Joon, but you made a costly mistake, and when you have power, it’s more of an issue than just regular posters.

“I’m no longer a ____.” will almost certainly become an SRK meme. So you’re Internet famous. Congratulations!

can i be a mod of the mvc2 forum

I’m no longer a rom hacker. Even though today I got access to the hit box editor in Fighters History Dynamite.

JoontheBaboon put too much time into the forums for this. If MrWizard wanted the SRK forums to be as organized and maintained as much as possible, he would reinstate Joon and deal with his actions personally as any head of a department would have. This sounds more like a minor dispute in how MrWizard would do things less than Joon actually being in the wrong/abusing powers, considering he deserved all those infractions anyway.

If Joon wasn’t aware that giving a certain amount of infractions would lead to an auto-ban, maybe Mr.Wiz is just doing a terrible job at informing his mods as to how the system works. If he actually trained his mods efficiently as to how SRK is intended to function, then I am more than certain that Joon wouldn’t have just loosely thrown out those infractions. I know there are certain qualifications to be a mod, and I’m willing to bet that Joon is probably one of the best mods on the SSF4 forums. But just because Wiz recruits people who are well qualified doesn’t mean he should take advantage of their passion to the community and just blindly throw them out in the field with little knowledge of the power they are given and no instruction or guideline whatsoever. It’s as if a poorly raised child were to be blamed for their mishaps rather than the parent(s) who raised them.

I can’t believe that Mr Wizard thinks that unbanning the troll and having a quiet word with Joon about his error is not the professional thing to do here.

It just makes me glad I never volunteered my services as a mod, which is a sad statement to hear from a community standpoint.

Peace,

G.

basically and in a nutshell, agreed.

whether it was an abuse of power or not, joons actions as a mod beforehand and the good hes done for the forums should be taken into account as well as the respect and love that he seems to get from his “subordinates” (regular forum goers) he cleaned up alot of the trash around the sf4 forums. that alone has to get him some leeway. just 'cause wiz doesnt agree with his actions isnt a reason to unmod joon. its a reason to give a WARNING.

wiz, arent you doing the same thing to joon that you accuse him of doing? if he had previously been reprimanded for such action then it would seem a fair decision. but no one here has stated that joon had been previously warned.
maybe mods come under a different set of rules, but it definitely seems like an overreaction.

also, saying “follow the flowchart guys” is SUPREME flamebaiting. what if some random were to a call a gay person a faggot? insta ban. well we all know REAL ken players have a sore spot for one of srk’s biggest memes. i dont see it as any different. some people take there characters seriously.

lets go into the gief forums and taunt them about spinning the joystick.
or into the chun/honda forums and call them all mashers…

its obvious baiting whether or not it was playful.
if it was playful then it was just “passive aggressive” taunt.

a taunt is still a taunt ESPECIALLY when its been going on for awhile.

anywho just wanted to put my 2 cents in. joon and i dont even get along irl.
but hes done good for the forums and thats what mostly matters. communtiy continuity first, trolls last.

The fact that this thread was created in the first place illustrates why Wiz was justified in his actions.

Can someone who is still a mod close this thread?

It’s not like mods are being paid anyways, so who cares. Joon should enjoy his extra free time instead of sitting at the computer clicking his mouth a gazillion times for a completely thankless job.

I haven’t been in there in a minute, but my guess is SRK IRC is deriving great, unregulated guffaws of laughter, over this.

Maybe the toddlers should dare to play internet detective, and pop up in THERE to voice their complaints?

if so

Spoiler

I want screenshots of the eviscerations that ensue.

You’ve just described Wiz, S-Kill and the Cannons in one sentence. I’m glad you understand how hard they have worked so you have a community in which to bitch about their decision to demod somebody. Let’s not split hairs here; god knows how much money got dumped into this place before the SF4 forums gangbanged it.

There’s a difference between bitching (which I don’t believe I am doing. I’m trying to approach this from an adult perspective) and pointing out ways in which I believe this could have been handled better.

I’m always courteous and I talk to people how I expect to be spoken to myself, regardless of how far away they are and regardless of how safe it is to straight out insult people over the internet.

To be quite frank I don’t apprecite your tone or the way you assume I’ve “dissed” Mr W.

Regardless, this whole fiasco is bad for the community and if you think that it’s been handled appropriately, then more fool you. It’s also just putting more fuel on the fire that the SRK community will undoudtedly bring about it’s own downfall eventually due to it’s immature and unprofessional attitude.

You can’t have things both ways. If a community wants to be taken seriously, then it needs to act accordingly. If you want the community to shrink and implode, then fine, talk shit more to adults like me and watch how we all walk away and leave you kids to your games…

Peace,

G.
