I appreciate the work you put in Joon (I really need the extra help with the character boards), but I’m afraid Wiz’s word is final on these things. This thing has gotten to a point where my 2 cents aren’t going to be helpful to either side of this situation or change anything. Just know I appreciated the effort.

Nah, but he did quadruple-tap the dude for his post. I mean, I can stand by tossing a warning for being a dick and all, but not a full on ban in one post.
It was a few infractions in 1, and I think you only need a few infraction points to be banned (temporarily).
It would seem that Joon had no idea that the individual was banned.
He gave an infraction for each breach of forum rules.
If this is the wrong application of an infraction, then fine. PM him and explain his mistake (as it seems to be a misunderstanding of the process rather than an abuse of power).
Clear up the “banning” fiasco as this sounds like an error and all start talking to each other like grown ups.
Joon was bitter. He’s done a lot of hard work for the good of the community at no benefit to himself. He has seemingly been reprimanded by someone who has:
- Not collected all the facts.
- Discontinued communications mid way through a conversation that was by no way concluded appropriately.
- Made a very snap decision.
This is all very infantile behaviour really and the only real winner at the end of this is going to be the stupid troll who caused the whole issue in the first place.
We lose Joon’s efforts and hard work. Mr Wizard successfully alienates half the forum with his attitude towards people and a forum troll gets reinstated.

if you did not realize that the infractions you handed out caused him to be banned, then what makes you fit to hand out those infractions?
He spammed a lot, so instead of infracting him at those times, you waited until you were pissed and gave him like 7 points? Nah that’s abuse.

I reiterate.
I totally get where both sides are coming from here. I understand that the user in question may have been trolling around here for quite some time, and there are times when something needs to be done. That being said, looking at the content of the post made “follow the flowchart, you’ll be fine guys!” alone doesn’t seem to warrant a ban whatsoever. I’d say either trolling or adding a post of no value, but not that combination that happened.
I can’t say I know the moderator workings of SRK all too well (since I’m not a mod), but I’ve practically lived on forums for my internet life, and I can only imagine that if that user was so much of a problem, there must be some other way to deal with it, and not just banning him on that post.
On the outside, it could appear that Mr. Wizard was a bit harsh on Joon, but I am not intimate with the situation and there may be more than what is explained here. That being said, Mr. Wizard’s decision seems harsh, yet fair.
Can I pm you if I want to step in and abuse the SF4 forums with Mod powers? If one place deserves to be abused, its that and the MvC3 forums.
I’ve abused those two since birth…I doubt anyone else can punch them in the face hard enough to make them flinch.
Seems like a dumb reason to de-mod someone.
