@Chukz
But how will I know how I progress if I don’t fight people? Btw Terraria is awesome!
Double edged sword. I got ocv’d and TOD over 200 times, not something I would reccomend for begginer players to go through. At this very moment I played online for the first time in over a week, I faced one person around my skill level and had fun; faced a seventh lord and felt like quitting the game. Couldn’t land a single hit and every time whiffed a normal I was put into Long ass combos not being able to practice anything. play online, but it’s not going to do anything, 99% of the players are a skill level too high to have fun or learn anything at this point.
What’s a double edged sword? What’s ovd and TOD? So this game’s online is basically dead for beginners?
He was referring to online being a double edged sword, meaning it can be both good and bad. OCV means one character victory, in other words beaten by one member of the opponents team. A TOD means Touch of Death, or a combo that kills a character from full health.
I haven’t played this game in a while online as the lag is pretty terrible, so I can’t speak to the skill level of players that you would find there, but it can’t hurt to just try it out. As long as you find something in a match to learn from it isn’t a waste, even if that something is as simple as learning you need to block more.
Correct, continuing from this point, once you learn you need to blCk more then you must worry about high/low/left/right mixups that are harder to block, resets, guard breaks, etc.
All what you have to worry and defend against before you hit a button.
But I can’t block, I keep finding people that does an assist character one way and then teleports the other so I’m being attacked 2 ways, then TOD. I also find it really hard to mimic what other people do since I don’t know the full attack (or mobility) list of anyone in the game. (On a quick-different note, Skullgirls or Darkstalkers Resurrection?)
That is called a left right mixup, which are extreme hard to block for begginers, that is why I said to stay offline for a while, a lot ofnstupidnshit can blow you up.
I have been offline for a while, I was just saying when I did go online for like 4 matches, they all did that along with a TOD. It’s also pretty boring just fighting the computers =/
Stop posting in this thread, ask a mod to lock it and then read the character sections for the characters you play. Afterwards read the thread on Marvel basics, go to regional matchmaking and find the thread for your local playgroup. Become involved in your local community so you can have consistant offline comp and feedback as to how you are doing/what you are doing wrong.
Make sure you practice, at least, a half hour a day to get your muscle memory functioning properly. It is going to take a while, sometimes it is tedious but the more you practice the better you’ll do.
Also remember that this hobby requires a lot of hard work, there are people who will help you but make sure you ask in the right sections and/or search (you can type “shoryuken.com:_________” to search the site for information. As long as you show you are doing your best, we will do the best to help.
Welcome aboard and dont make any more threads for at least one month. At this point you should be reading and not writing.
I would like to not lock this thread o-o…I went to other parts of the forums and read on the characters I used and bits and pieces of other stuff, that’s why I’m not asking about my team on this thread but didn’t I mention that I don’t know what I was doing wrong because of how fast the match would end? And that was addressed :D.
This seems helpful ^-^ Thank you
This game alone is a hobby? I thought playing games in general was a hobby…That’s why I don’t post much on other threads, idk if I am asking in the right place or not =/
Thank you! I’ll try to stick to this one. I usually read before I write =)
