I'm Here to Teach you some Moves...(Taskmaster Changelog Thread)

I know change is scary but somtimes its for the better

Not all change is good.

Edit: I will admit I may have gone to far in saying that Task has lost all of his combo’s since you never confirmed if they were gone or not and i havent touched the game.

Feels like every character that got a new tool to help them extend combos lost combo potential in a different way. Chris and Cap’s old BNBs seem to not even work in UMVC3 and they will have to do new ones now. If all Taskmaster lost in that regard was a very strict combo technique and the ability to use j.H in his BNB at certain points on certain characters, then that’s all well and good in my book.

The tool he was given to extend combos with may be hamperd by his hitstun nerf and is definetly hampered by the damage on the aim master. So is it really worth it, In Caps and Chris’s case they both seem to be overall better. Im sure when the game drops there will be more ppl happy with them then there will be ppl requesting them to go back to their Vanilla. My only problem is that i dont think that he really need his nerfs outside of the Legion Arrow correction and maybe the Aim master damage but the rest wasnt needed.

super late. all of these changes seem to point to task being given new bnb combos. his new combos for max damage will probably be something like [sting master, tk H arrows, j.B, j.S, land, shield skills, sting master, tk H arrows, j.B, j.S, land, shield skills, launch, etc] or some BS like that. all in all, i think task will pretty much be intact, but his combos will be a little more ‘taskmaster’ in nature.

task has a solo relaunch combo in ultimate, its the same as the old one except you do H instead of M I believe

Tasky’s gonna be jussssst fine.

Spidey Swing canceling to specials/hyper means a quick and easy punish or a way to ghetto airdash and quickly dump some aim H below you to cover your descent.

A new move is always nice.

Sure. We may not get as much out of shield skills, but it’s free chip damage with an assist + aim master.

He still has the IMO relatively unexplored sword master. Perhaps the higher shield skills float could provide a harrasment assist to aid a setup for sword master.

Theres changes. That just means lab work.

Taskmaster will still be able to deal big damage, he just likely now has more ways to nickel and dime to have a much more multi-faceted gameplan.

Looks like the arrows will be essential for Taskmaster bnb’s now.

Also seems like rope cancelling will have applications to Taskmaster’s keep away.

‘Rope cancelling’ sounds dope hahaha.

Huh. I was using shield skills a ton today and I didn’t notice much difference at all. I was doing the same old BTBs I was doing in vanilla.

I noticed this too. I just can’t seem to get the solo relaunches…

As for “rope canceling” it’s seriously gdlk.

On the ground if you cancel mighty swing into lightly pushing any arrow you will shoot one arrow while maintaining the momentum and slide forward. If you hold the button any longer the arrows won’t come out and you’ll land perfectly safely and able to act instantly meaning mighty swing can no longer be punished by a reaction air throw. It works also on block and on push block.

More importantly if you do this on a block string and do mighty swing and see that the opponent has successfully blocked the kick you can cancel into arrows, still maintain the momentum and land next to them for continued pressure or a throw attempt.

I don’t know the exact frames but if you jump and cancel mighty swing into medium arrows (pointing down forward) before he says the “ty” in “mighty swing!” he can gain enough momentum to shoot full screen while firing off 3 full arrows. Using this with a beam assist is the absolute juice.

Doing this too early or too late changes where you land so practice it so you know exactly where you’re going to end up!

EDIT: Testing shows that sent drones are much better for full screen because of the possibility of crossing the opponent up. Too good.
