There are a few matchups that get more and more skewed in Blankas favor at least for me because I keep finding things that I’ve been adding to my strats vs certain characters. For example, I feel 100% comfortable playing ANY Dictator because I feel I have a counter for just about everything and any situation in that matchup. Same goes for Guile and Sim.
Anyone else having similar or opposite experiences?
CothX- No its definitely not and even fight, sorry if I made it seem that way by my chart. Maybe I should have put him up with Vega and Sagat. I would say its 6-4 in FeiLong’s favor.
Decoy- I used to feel the same way about Guile, like I hardly lost. Until recently, I don’t know if I am just really impatient nowadays or something, but its hard that’s the only reason I thought it might be even now. I wouldn’t mind seeing what you do differently than me we should get a room going with Axel Kelly and MarsGatti. I wish Fifth N Some Bud still played his Guile was pretty all time.
Here is mine. a lot of the results are a mixed bag.
Balrog 2-7
Deejay 3-7 (I run into a lot of turtles, but a great deejay is easily 2-7)
Fei-long 4-6
Honda 4-6
Sim 4-6 ( a lot of people have him lower, but I end up playing NLP OU a lot. he makes getting in nearly impossible)
Ken 4.5-5
Ryu 5-5
Guile 5-5 (like deejay, it depends on if they know how to do more than turtle.)
Blanka 5-5
Dictator 6-4
Chun-li 6-4
Sagat 6-4 ( I run into a lot of bad sagat players. I am supposed to play St1ffpeter soon, maybe I will rethink this one afterward.)
T-Hawk 7-3
Zangief 7-3
Cammy 8-2
I’m assuming you mean in the Fei Long match. You should only ever blanka ball against Fei to end a combo. As in j.Fp, b.Mp, cancel into Ball, or the TOD combo. If Fei is blocking, doing the ball is frigging suicide.
@ Majin I don’t mean any offense, but there is no way on God’s green earth that Ryu vs Blanka is even. It’s not frequent that you run across pro level Ryu’s online, so I understand if that’s been your experience.
BTW I remember having a fun set against you the other night on Xbox Live in ranked. Keep it up!
I agree. Great game the other night. Add me as friend whenever you are up for mirror matches.
As for my tier list, I debated posting it because I don’t have half the experience that people have here, especially the ones that play at tournaments. So I guess you can think of my list as more of an xbox live list from my experiences. When I played DGV’s Ryu, the best I could do was take a round from him, so I totally understand where you are coming from.
Yeah I feel what you mean Dr Majin. I came from Xbox live never played at tournaments or anything like that before and I honestly feel you can learn so much and faster because of the diversity of players. Even when I play people that use turbos (I won’t say who but he told me he does) it makes it that much more fun cuz it only makes it harder to win. That Ryu match as you will learn is really hard. Next time we play I will use Ken against you and show you that Shotos are really hard when used correctly. Overall though your Blanka is turning out really well
So anybody feel like breaking down why they think Honda is only a 4-6 match? Lately I’ve been running into massive amounts of him and it’s giving me fits if they play defensively. Down back and throwing out jab h. hands feels pretty unbeatable if they have a life lead. I suppose “don’t lose the life lead” is the answer but apparently my reaction time on stuffing/jumping headbutts isn’t good enough for that.
I say its 6-4 but in Hondas favor for that same reason you just listed. Thelo especially he can sit there all day and do light head butts and fierce handslaps. I have been getting better at the match up thanks to a standing light kick which stuffs hand slaps and makes them have to attack you
When I first go for a cross-up vs good Hondas, I immediately charge down and smack them out of the air with a vertical ball when they try to get away. Works perfectly. There is no free get out of jail card.
Once you connect with that once, it will make them think twice about trying to escape with a sumo splash. Then, it becomes a 50/50 game. Ask EA Megaman, he’s the first Honda I did that to. lol
Other than the Vertical Ball, which BTW is a good technique for that Sumo Splash, what I do in that situation is cross over with light kick they sumo butt splash and I immediately follow them with a jumping medium punch. They definitely cannot get a free sumo splash. The bad thing is that it doesnt knock down like the vertical ball does. I just usually use that medium punch because I am always setting up for that 4-hit combo that doesn’t use charge
Has Blanka always been able to punish Dictator’s Psycho Crusher like this and I just never knew? If so, how do you get the H Ball to come out? I’m assuming just mash punch while holding db.
Isn’t that vertical ball? Also, mashing punch probably isn’t the way to go since electricity might come out by accident. Or then again, that might work, too.
Edit: Is there a preferred strength of electricity you guys use? Especially for meaty electricity after a knock down.
