need help with brushstrokes
oh yeah now i remember why i stopped uploading stuff, lack of help.
don’t get ass-hurt over it.
you weren’t exactly clear with what you need help with.
nor did you define the media/medium used to produce your artwork.
^nevermind, i see that you were using gouche and india ink.
that said, try giving out some more information, that way other SRK posters have a more clear understanding of what you need assistance with.
Try using shapes instead of lines. When using natural media, you have a lot of control so use that to your advantage. For example, instead of outlining a rectangle and then filling it in with red, you can use a wide brush loaded with red and make that rectangle with one stroke. You can get interesting results with textures created by different brushes. Also try to use black as a dark and not for the outlines. Hope that helps.
I’m not really sure what advice to give on brushstrokes, perhaps give the areas in the foreground thicker strokes than areas in the bg? Normally that would helps create some kind of visual system and makes the pic less flat, but the sumi-e style would probably overpower it…
