Illegal to film police

The only reason I even knew this was already a law was because of an episode of Seinfeld I watched a while back, lol. The law is kind of weird I guess, but not much you can do, really.

countdown until someone says “well he shouldn’t have had a beer visible”

Alfaphlex you better slow your roll. One of these days you’ll be at home chillin’ with your wife and she’ll notice you have a glowing red “pimple” on your forehead that she didn’t see 12 seconds ago.

^ rofl, I should. Only reason I bumped this thread up was cuz I was visiting gizmodo and this article just happened to be the most recent one.

Hmm. Someone’s at the door. brb.

in one sense, I understand the cops problem. Hard to do your job when somebody is all up in ur grill, filming u and distracting u.

However, tough shit. They have no problem putting up cameras everywhere to watch me do shit, so fuck em

you have nothing to fear unless you’re guilty

/srk

Serious question. Doesn’t this law violate the freedom of the press amendment if you are in a public street/setting?

That requires you to assume that’s still a relevant document.

ummm, yes u do. In some parts of the world (ie France if I recall) u are guilty until proven innocent. And trust me, cops think ur scum the moment they have to deal with u. Until u can prove u have done nothing wrong, ur not getting many favours

Of course one of them is Illinois.

Because apparently the motto of this state is “We’ll screw you!”

Don’t worry about P. Gorath, he’s just a troll.

Anyway, my earlier post remains the truest, most important thing in this thread.

Hah! I’ve had my share of cops trying to get on my shit for filming. I used to go skateboarding downtown a lot, and as soon as those cops see that video camera, they change their focus with a quickness. Start acting super straight, and trying to confiscate that shit.

I can attest to this.

Yeah I hate this kind of stuff. Constitution or whatever says that we’re all created equal, but that doesn’t apply to the police does it?

Cop claims suspect repeatedly punched and kicked him. Make a thread about it if you guys want. I’ve already made one too many anti-police threads:lol:

Anyway, shit like this is why filming police should never be illegal.
