I think what pisses me off more is how it’s basically a list to talk down to people. GlaDos as #1, wow great “indie awesome alternative choice” there IGN. Oh wait, Kefka? Can you please remind what he did ad nausem? Sephiroth, man…what an in depth villain that is as deep as how he was ingrained into the childhood of gamers. Nintendo royalty and mustmentions of Bowser and Ganondorf near the top? Great respect for tradition. They are descriptions that a 12 year old would write, without any further insight that hasn’t been said before. The 100 just buffs up the list from a top ten just to see what could possibly occupy the other 90 spots.
Seriously a lot of us are older to expect more from our nostolgia and podcasts like Retronauts and just gaming podcasts in general kind of makes me want behind the scenes development information on how these characters were designed, blueprinted, conceptualized or evolved over time. I’d rather read about inspirations about the characters rather than all the rad and cool things they did in a game. It’s in that laziness of compiling a shallow 100 list that makes me angrier than any actual rankings associated with said villains.
I think Top 100 lists are just too large to give anything a fair due. I mean, is #65 really so much better than #85? Things like this should really be kept to Top 20-30 since after that things just get added for the sake of padding. Case in point: the list contains separate entries for Master D, Mecha Hitler, and Nazis.
The Grue interest me, although it’s left up to our imaginations as to what it looks like. As far as being a villain it seems more like a creature than a true villain.
Katy Perry is the #1 hottest girl world in the world!?! LIES! I will forward this list to everyone I know to ask them to agree with my obvious assessment!
Yea that list is horrible, I bet someone was just bored at his desk and his boss told him you need make an article done for the Site asap and he made this BS list.
