way to waste resources. at the end of the day no matter what they do it’ll make quite a bit of money. iphone owners love shitty controls and boring games
in terms of this quarters earnings? no. but in terms of it being ported to pc/arcade, yes.
I don’t understand. Is the iPhone that popular in Japan? I can understand Capcom making an iPhone version for the casual gaming market in North America, but you would think that considering their past focus on the Japanese market, they would worry more about the PSP. I would much rather see it on the PSP as well. Besides… who wants to play SF4 when Super is going to be out in 2 months?
Capcom, let’s keep our focus on the REAL gaming consoles, and most importantly, THE PC!!!
The biggest use this has is as ammunition for the rest of us to call bullshit on pretty much anything Capcom does regarding SSF4. OH HAI, i am teh s-kill, let me blatantly lie to you about how we’re so poor we had to charge for simple alt costumes (HACKCOUGHNAMCOCUSTOMIZATIONS). We are a simple company with no huge franchises and who cling to integrity above all else, we really just couldn’t justify the cost of coming up with a matchmaking system that fucking worked. I can haz “fighting game bro” status?
Really, this isn’t a blatant moneygrab. Because yes, the game where everyone thinks its required to have a stick of some sort is totally suited TO THE FUCKING GODDAMNED IPHONE.
I like how you guys don’t seem to understand that a completely different division is probably responsible for this game, and that its budget is entirely independent of SSFIV. GG guys, keep it up!
right, a different division of the same company. you know one single company with one single pool of resources. it’s not like the paychecks for that division are being written from a different bank account as the ones for any other division.
i think the mistake your making here is your actually reading and responding to something jagger is saying, it’s a common mistake.
http://www.capcom.com/ <click this, and realize that every single one of those divisions operates as an independent entity with a separate operating budget.
Srs bsns.
Look at it this way: you think the U.S. SSFIV site updates at a snails pace because they’re just being mean, or is it because their online budget is smaller than Capcom Japan’s?
ok fair enough, i don’t pretend to know a damn thing about the internal workings of a large corporation. but tell me one thing then, if capcom goes bankrupt tommorow, how many divisions of capcom will be out of money? will only 1 division be filing for bankruptcy?
because last i checked (gonna use AIG as an example here) only 1 division of AIG did HORRIDLY to cause the crash and it seemed to affect the entire company even though it was just one entity of AIG. and when AIG was bailed out i don’t remember it just being 1 division of AIG that got bailed out, but the entire corporation.
If say, the European Cellphone division of Capcom, starts going belly up and starts pouring out money, it’s not going to kill Capcom Japan. That slice of the “pie” isn’t that big comparatively; they can just cut off that division and be just fine.
On the other hand, if Capcom USA died, Capcom Japan will probably go down too (or at least be limping pretty hard). Because it’s a more essential piece of the whole. This doesn’t mean that the budgets aren’t separate, but if a big enough part of the whole dies, shit’s gonna get drastic quick.
The deal with AIG was that the part that lost all that money, that division, lost a LOT of money-- enough to bring down the whole thing.
The game does look very nice in motion. Most impressive. That’s probably a 3GS running the game; it probably won’t look as nice on older iPhones.
But anyway, no matter how good the game looks, it probably plays like ass. I’m still gonna pick it up, because if I can pull IAT>BnB>Super on a stick made entirely of pixels consistently, then I can do it on any input device ever crafted, including Rock Band drums and DJ Hero turntables.
Theres a vid on joystiq.com. Shows the guys hands. Looks pretty damn impressive for me. 10 bucks for portable SF is tough to turn down unless its absolute Garbage like megaman2 iphone.
