If You're in '09er, before or after, post here!

I knew about this site way before I joined in 2005, I remember like the first time I stumbled into the forums probably around 2001 and I was like Shoryuken? Capcom games!? wtf!! am out of here.lol My thing was and it always has been SNK Games and I thought srk wasn’t the place for it. Little did I know but I still considered this place to be the best site to talk about any fighting game and video games in general.

Filthy 09’ers!

I remember when SF4 came out. SRK blew up with new members.
And then we hazed them.

There used to be SOOOO many trolls picking on 09ers. They got offended really bad. I remember that one guy ProjectJustice was just ragging on them all day.

Am I one of those snake-senpai?

I think the wrong person made this thread

Damn, this post makes me want to donate the mini oven I have in the kitchen. You’re that broke?..

In the post '09 FGC, everyone is broke no matter how much money is actually coming in.

My experience was this:

I had played pretty hardcore when I was younger (was a scrub, but in my head, I was pretty hardcore about the game). I heard about tournaments through Tips & Tricks, almost went to MWC one year but couldn’t get anyone to go with me (I was 15 at the time). I had no clue there was a place to talk about the competitive aspects of the game then. Never really occurred to me to look for a forum.

Fast forward about 9 years, I hear about SF4, decide to invest the time to learn to play and get into tournaments, start trying to find a way to look up info about tournaments since T&T was gone, so I searched for either Battle by the Bay or Street Fighter tournaments in Google. SRK was the top result I think, and that’s how I found my way here. I got here early enough to start learning 3S and ST, but was still scrubby at both, but was at least catching on to stuff I should know about to play competitively. It also compelled me to try to play other games. I’m still the kind of guy that if I see a game I’ve never played, I’ll sit down and play a few matches even if I never pick it up seriously or get competitive.

I joined in 2010 and I’ve learned to hate myself for it.
Although, If I remember correctly I visited the ST page on the Shoryuken Wiki in like '06 or '07. I remember after a couple of minutes backing out of the page though, thinking “I’ll never be good enough to understand or use all of this information.”
