And hows everyone doing etc? I am doing good, looking to update to full status any day now.
Anyone in the Boston area that repairs sticks? I have two MAS sticks, but I believe all the wires for the buttons are messed up.
the sticky/forum wouldn’t be a bad idea but i don’t know if wiz will add another section to the trading post for just custom stick building/making.
depends if he wants to do that. all the custom stick builder threads that are active would have to be moved, but I’m sure it’s nothing he can’t handle.
Who would you guys recommend for building a Xbox 360 stick with P360?
Anyone that has SBA on their name, is most likely a good bet.
Kuenai has informed me, all his refunds have been processed, thats is great news indeed. And makes me glad, as I said that would happen. So while obviously he will most likely not do custom sticks in the future, its great his name is cleared up. I would ask all parties involved to please post accordingly, and put closure. Again this is great news to hear!
Actually, I have continued to purchase tools and learn by rebuilding my own sticks (I’m on my seventh incarnation of my green sanwa at the moment) and will make a few more. But these will not be “custom”. They will be pre-made, so that any that are purchased are already ready to ship, and no waiting will be done. I am also giving a stick or two as charity to the customers I wronged who handled the situation with no small amount of grace and consideration. This will be done on my own time, though, as I basically have near triple full time at school this quarter, and have to concentrate on graduating high school (yes, I’m finishing my senior year at the moment) first through running start.
Doubtless, my part in the scene will be a passive one now and mainly a hobby with which I intend to help the NW community which I am a part of. Expect to see sticks of much higher quality in the future, though. Maybe even a few mods :wonder:
Alrighty Good to hear, we can’t SBA you for a while, so you can show consistency, but glad to have you back.
Also I doubled checked and Cleared Multi, he has refunded his customers.
Now just waiting on Painted to finish his business, my sticks are going out this week, and everyone in SRK is clear :).
So quite :wgrin:
No need for SBA. I don’t plan on making it a real business any time soon, with the way school is going.
what if one of you stick makers tried this:
Get Justin Wong to put his signature on a stick and have Justin endorse it.
I think it would outsell all of the other sticks, esp. if people saw Justin playing with it.
Could go the same with getting Daigo’s signature, Sanford’s signature, etc.
That’s what I’d do.
That’s a retarted strategy that’s being used already. Why would you need player’s endorsement when it’s basically all the same parts. Just because the housing is different doesn’t make it a better arcade stick, and neither will a signature from a guy who plays a game well. I can’t even believe you said that.
The reason its called a custom arcade stick is so that you make it your own, and I think the whole meaning gets killed when you try to do a fatal1ty maneuver in order to get a couple of $$.
Here’s a little something that Imitrex told me:
vvvvvv Have fun on your Fatal1ty stick vvvvvvv
i think that’s all fine and dandy, but imagine a noob who wants to buy his own custom stick.
does he want to read through 10000 pages of forum pages or does he want to just get a stick that a top player says is good so he can trust the purchase?
you’re pushing noobs out of the fighting game scene. the fact that joe shmoe has to read through so much crap just to find what fighting game stick works well on his PS is unreal and it’s one huge reason why this is such a niche market.
nobody said about making the stick more expensive. it’s more about upfront visibility about quality control that the average person could find out quickly.
hell, i don’t know anything about FPS since last FPS I played was Quake 1. Now if fatality or whoever is top in FPS now says that ‘THIS mouse is the best for FPS,’ you bet I’m gonna buy that rather than do hours upon hours of google searching to arrive at the same conclusion (and possibly lose interest in playing in the whole process).
Seriously, stop before you dig a deeper hole, jaded. Though there pobably would be some people who want endorsed products, it’s just a bad idea for too many reasons to count. The first one being that Justin Wong plays on MAS sticks.
A lot of players go for the incredibly inconsistent MAS sticks because that’s all they know. One of the reasons they are so popular is because everyone uses them. It’s a vicious circle that our consumer-oriented country sees all too often. This isn’t going to change, especially when you can’t keep quality control when the manufacturer of part (HAPP) doesn’t even have decent fucking quality control. Ever since Happ bought the Perfect 360, the gamers have been doomed to getting a decent stick only 1 on 5 purchases.
Feel free to give feedback on stickbuilding, but leave it out of this thread. Make you own and take the risk of trolls, but don’t lead them here.
THanks.
Hmm, there is no builders in Europe? I live in Portugal and if I order something outside of Europe, I have to pay a lot :\
I’m getting ready to buy an arcade stick but there are some thing I need to know about. for starters, if I get a stick made for a PS2 and I use a converter to use it on an Xbox 360 will I experience any “lag” when I use it for the 360?
Also, I want to get my stick from byrdo does anyone know if he they would supply me with a converter?
THANKS!
Converter lag is dependant on the converter, not the stick. Though are there actually any PS2->360 converters? (let alone good ones).
Byrdo is just one guy so your best bet is to direct your question to him directly (through email).
no converters ps ->360
that is to say no GOOD ones, the only one runs about $70 and isn’t worth shit.
Builders don’t typically give out converters. Maybe you can ask for a x360 stick rather than a ps stick.
(or if the builder is willing, he can do both in one stick)
Come to think of it, does Byrdo even take commissions? I thought he just churned out a few sticks when he had the time and we just bid on the premades.
Damn, Byrdo is an incredible artist. Surf some of his stuff in the gallery.
