i would love to be able to play killer instinct again, man that was a pretty sick game
Sorry, there’s a lot of arcade machines I want to add in, but there’s too much to remember.
No one likes those asian photo/sticker booths? They seem like a good money maker to me and they attract a certain demograph to your arcade
Aww that’s a shame, man. Sorry to hear, but you gotta put in what makes money.
Poonage - From my observations but the arcades that are doing well all had the main games for 50 yen for 3/5 rounds from day 1. Those are the arcades that get flooded with people. But yeah, those have also been around a while I assume (at least a couple years), but I think starting from that will get people where I want them.
And yeah, i did NOT know how expensive gundam is/was. I just know when I see any setup of 8 of them for 50 yen, it’s almost always packed. But because of the cost, I can definitely see where that could go wrong.
And yeah, you’re the one with REAL arcade owning experience, so I’ll trust you 100%, but this is more, “If I had the money and/or ability, it would be nice to be able to do” type thing.
HeartNana post is cool but for what i want is extremely far from the reality of South America… shipping those Gundam monsters to here is a nightmare (and you need to be rich) but thanks for the ideas!
By the way, i dont know if this is the right place but… in what Arcade game stores do you buy anyway?
In Japan i know MAK and G-Front, on Hong Kong i know HK Legend and their shipping rates are pretty good but i dont know the rest… i heard that CoinOpExpress is horrible, i saw some of his prices and some things looks decent and others not.
And of course your dying typical Arcade is something that is oh so profitable and not something people can just do at home… Oh wait. Besides, I wouldn’t open one, be it normal or like I said. I was just hypothetically answering the question.
Before you come back giving me some crap about how I’m wrong. There are plenty of LAN Centres that make money aswell. Think of somewhere like Inferno Online. There are always exceptions.
Ok well maybe you kind of missed what I meant. There are these new arcade cabinets that have Xbox360 in them. My tilt just got one in Jax. fl. There has got to be a way to hook up other consoles to them. Thier setup is allright but anything can be mooded. With that said.
See now that is some positive input!! I really thank you for letting me see it like that. Rather than trying to open my own Arcade/Lan Center, I could just try to add on to the really good existing Arcades. What I mean by this is, well…
By all the cabinets like 55 or so, since I do not know all of the actual bumping arcades, but there can not be more than 11 or so, as I would only need to do 4 in cali, 2 in so cal and 2 in norcal, and put them in those arcades I would want to do 5 in each arcade. Makes sure the connection speed was “GREAT” in all locations and go from there. Setup online matches between top players in all kinds of online games that have netcode up to par with community standards. This is actually something I coulld do for the communtiy while I raise my family.
I could probly look at something around $250,000 start up and cover for a year or so, that is less than my resturant start-up. This I could run with and maybe even help the communtiy as far as helping the best in our country play one another all year around instead of at all the majors they show up to. I really still see no real money to come of it but hey, when you are doing something for a large group of poeple to move foward, it will not always give money as a way to tell you that you did well.
Games I would definitely get in no particular order:
1.) Street Fighter 4 (or Super SF4 if it gets arcade release).
2.) Tekken 6 BR
3.) Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo
4.) Street Fighter III: Third Strike
5.) Capcom vs SNK 2
6.) Marvel vs. Capcom 2
7.) Vampire Savior 1&2 (just swap boards in 1 cab from time to time)
8.) DoDonPachi DaiFukkatsu
9.) Ketsui
10.) Espgaluda 2
11.) Mushihimesama Futari 1.5
12.) Deathsmiles
13.) Shikigami no Shiro 2 or 3 (or both!)
14.) BlazBlue Continuum Shift
15.) Street Fighter 2 Turbo (Hyper Fighting)
16.) SNK NeoGeo 4-slot cab with Metal Slug series, SamSho series, KoF series, Last Blade 2
17.) Melty Blood Actress Again
18.) Daemon Bride
19.) Guilty Gear AC
20.) JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure
That’s what I guess would be the essentials.
Other games that I really like are:
-DoDonPachi and DoDonPachi DaiOuJou
-Guwange
-Espgaluda
-Armed Police Batrider
-Darius Twin series
-Marvel vs Capcom 1 and Marvel Super Heroes vs SF
-Battle Garrega
-Gradius series
-Hokuto no Ken
-Capcom beat-em-ups such as Aliens vs Predator, Final Fight, Battle Circuit, Warzard, etc.
*BONUS for great win: NBA JAM!
All the HD games would ideally go in Vewlix cabs and the rest I would put in a combination of Sega Blast City, Taito Egret II, and maybe some Astro City cabs.
Pretty good list but that Neo-Geo needs to get bumped up to a 6 slot so you can throw Mark of the Wolves and maybe a puzzle game or Sengoku on there.
I’d get.
Marvel Super Heroes vs Street fighter (because it’s opening scene is so full of energy)-25 cents
Marvel Vs Capcom 2-50 initial 25 to continue
Marvel Vs Capcom-50 initial 25 to continue (some people prefer 1 to to 2 so this is for them)

Ms. Pac-Man-25 cents
like 7 or 8 ticket games to make money off of.
I just KNOW I’m missing something.
How about a yearly/monthly membership disount card. Granted not everyones gonna jump on it so you’d still be able to price hike a percentage of your traffic, but for the dedicated crowds it seems like a viable idea (works for companies like gamecrazy)
Main thing is to have SFIV…thats what reeling in money for you to get other games. At least thats what happens in the arcades i go to.
Fever is the newest arcade edition, but the only one people seem to play over here is still 2 (?/tsuu…) I dunno why but the fever versions just never caught on. They have an interesting dynamic in that they’re less focused on rushing that shit down, but I guess people didn’t like that. I’ve only seen fever even around in one arcade and it was on a giant machine (rob you know the one) on rotation with 2.
Puyo puyo 2 is also the only puzzle game that I have any recollection of seeing with a back to back setup (i.e. the only one where people will play against one another.)
As for Azumanga Puzzle Bobble, that game is pure gold. It’s super fun multi-player because of that silly hole-in-the-wall bullshit. They’ve got one over at Avion in Osaka and it seems to do reasonably well, mostly because of character recognition i’m assuming, but it’s actually a pretty solid, if safe, take on the series otherwise.
One that I’d like to see get a back to back setup somewhere is magical drop. Shit is retarded fun and I’ve seen people playing it alone a fair amount. I dunno if it would draw people consistently enough though.
Can someone PLEASE tell me what company makes/supplies the LCD screens for the Tekken 6 cab, SF4 cab, and the BB cab? What brand and model number is it? I desperately want to get an LCD screen at home to play on but everyone in the universe seems to have input lag except the ones in those machines.
I would gladly pay more for a LCD that doesn’t have input lag.
HELP!
There’s going to be at least 2 machines of each game @ my arcade if I had to start one.
1)Marvel Super Heroes
2)X-Men vs Street Fighter
3)Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter
4)Marvel vs Capcom
5)Marvel vs Capcom 2

7)Killer Instinct 2

There will also be a series lounge rooms with onsole gaming for those games that are only available on console ports. There will be a large variety to pick from based on what console or what game you want to play.
I am trying to provide for all type of gamers, so there will be various types of games.
Frogger
If I won the lottery and didn’t care about profitability, I would just put up all the games I personally would want.
But if I was actually opening an arcade and trying to run a profitable business, I’d first put in something that was actually somewhat profitable (bar, used game store, etc.) and throw a few cabs in the back (likely Ms Pac Man, 3S, and Marvel). Lessee.
If profitability didn’t matter:
Fighting games:
3S
Marvel
SF4 (Super if available)
4-slot Neo with KoF '98, Samurai II, Magical Drop 3, and Garou
2 CPS2 machines that switched around between ST, Alpha 2/3, XSF, and Vampire Savior
Tekken 6 BR
GGXX:AC
Hyper Fighting
For the Ladies:
Puzzle Fighter
Puzzle Bobble
Rhythm:
ITG2
DDR Supernova 2
DJ Max
Old-school:
Donkey Kong
Ms Pacman
One freeplay machine that I would put random shit in and swap out every couple of months
Shooter cab that would cycle every couple of months
i would get all the shit i grew up with and loved, the first cab i would buy would have to be 3s, and then after that the aliens vs predator beat em up game ( i dont remember what its called but it was the best back in the day ). then i would have to load up on these games.
blazblue
GG xx#2
T6 BR
SC4
MvC2
Racing:
Initial D 4
Battle Gear 4
Mario Kart GP
Outrun 2
R-Tuned (new racer from Sega)
Wangan Midnight Racing 3
Shooting:
Afterburner 2
Rambo
House of the Dead 4
Gundam vs Gundam Next+
Shmup:
Dodonpachi: Daifukkatsu
Espgaluda II
Ikaruga
Mushihime-sama Futari
Pink Sweets
Rhythm:
I’m not really update to date with the newest versions
Beatmania
Drummania
DDR
DJ Max Technika
Guitar Freaks
ITG
Pop n’ Music
Puzzle:
gotta have it for the ladies
Puyo Puyo Fever
Puzzle Fighter
Random ass touch screen poker games (not puzzle but w/e)
There’s a few more games I would like to add, but they escape my mind at the moment (esp the shooting games, can’t remember the new ones ugh). For fighters, I wouldn’t have anymore than SF4, SF2:HF, ST, T6BR and MvC2, because I would like my arcade to actually make money.
