I am making this thread to discuss the idea of moving characters from one game to another and contemplating what it would be like to have access to a completely different set of system mechanics for the character of choice. Any character is game for discussion, unless they were already in the game (ex: “I sure wish Vergil was in MvC2” is okay, but this isn’t the place to put out a balance patch wishlist for any game). This could be a fun way of seeing how much system mechanics could affect individual characters.
Some more specific rules here:
Spoiler
-Buttons: Only as many as the desired game has. If you put someone in SF4, you have LMH versions of punches and kicks. If you put someone in Marvel 3, you have L,M,H, and S, as well as assists.
-Inputs: Unless there are some other games I have yet to learn about, I really only think Mortal Kombat, Killer Instinct, and Smash deviate strongly from the Capcom input style for special moves. If you are switching characters between these games, that’s fine. Otherwise, inputs are assumed to be standard unless some other factor would make that impossible.
-Meter building: If the game lets you build meter for whiffing normals, for example, your character can now build meter by whiffing normals.
-Match ups: Please, no match up discussion here unless someone would have like, 9-1 match ups against most of the cast due to a stark difference in tools.
-Mobility: This is a bit of a gray area. I’ll just leave it up to the poster to specify whether or not someone keeps an 8-way air dash in a game that doesn’t normally have air dashes. Same goes for dashes and running. Rolls do not count for this unless they are a special, like Abel’s command roll in SF4 or something)
-2D/3D: For simplicity’s sake, I highly caution against putting Tekken characters in Street Fighter or the like. Way too many variables to consider there.
Diving right in, I would shed a tear if I could play Anakaris from Vampire Savior in the Guilty Gear XX (I’ll just assume +R for this thought) system. A lot of the issues with his floaty jumps could be rectified with Faultless Defense (he could kara FD his dive ala Faust) and would probably enjoy being able to FRC and RC his longer normals (st.HP and and cr.MK) so he can dash in and connect with a jab into a full series.
