If you have blood off during Shizumaru’s super, rain actually hits the umbrella instead of blood. A neat detail and it keeps it from being totally boring.

Has anyone got Blasphemous? I’m really tempted, I’m almost done with Astral Chain. There’s so many games coming up. Doom is going to be a definite. There’s going to be Links Awakening soon too. Maybe Death Stranding.

My Mrs has broken her leg so we’re playing Borderlands together too.

Yup, so if anyone has played Blasphemous, what do you think? I love Metroidvania and I’m a sucker for the art style.

I’m loving the fuck out of that game but I am squarely in the target demo:

  • I love the art style
  • I really enjoyed Dark Souls 1 (structurally and mechanically)
  • I appreciate a game that is weird and doesn’t feel the need to explain itself

“Dark Souls” gets thrown around as an adjective a lot but I think it applies a lot to Blasphemous. The game seems difficult but it isn’t that hard, really. I’ve died like 10-20 times in the time I’ve played (5ish hours in I think) and most of that has been platforming or learning boss patterns. The actual game itself can be tackled fairly readily if you are just patient.

And the art man. Goddamn. I’m used to indie games having a few cool art things in them but this game is just fucking overflowing with amazing art and animation.

I’d say this game is absolutely not for everyone but if it is your jam you very well may love it.

I don’t think Poison is as bad as some folks make her out to be but she definitely has some issues. Still more than good enough for online warrior’n though.

Also this came up forever ago and it got buried before I could respond: LP+HP Avant Line does eat projectiles on the first hit but I file it as a happy accident when it comes up. More something that helps you get around fireballs in close range footsies if you decide to go for it.

If you’re looking to get around projectiles EX LMT is projectile invincible from frame 3, only -2 oB, and 2nd fastest LMT start up to boot. Biggest problem I have with it is that it only goes around half screen ish and I forget that sometimes so I end up wasting bar for nothing. If you are getting zoned hard you still need to close a bit before you can try for it.

Poison is trash. Not bottom 5-7 trash, but trash nonetheless. She really should’ve had a DP and a fireball.

I knew something was wrong with Poison’s st.HP because it gets stuffed often before the first active frame… I mean I didnt think it was that bad but…

Edit: there is a lingering hurtbox after the active frames is done that isnt as big as this but… it stays on for 16 frames oh boy

Yeah that is exactly what I was talking about. Leading hurtbox is nothing new but that bad boy really jumps out there. Combine that with the start up and it is almost more remarkable the move gets out at all.

For fun also look at the hit/hurtbox coverage on st.HP during the active frames. The hurtboxes make it pretty easy to still get clipped.

It seems like a good poke initially but it has a lot of asterisks. Still trying to get a feel for when to use it. I mostly stick to st.MK.

Most of the time you’ll only be able to jab throw. The actual “baiting” you can go off visual tells, like the stun bar getting high or if you’re playing against Cammy or Rashid theres a 1268% chance v reversal out of the corner at the very earliest possible moment. All of them.
