If it will please the jury: the phoenix wrights team thread

I’m a bit conflicted on team order because “Get 'em Missile” is actually a pretty interesting assist if you can cover it. It is a very low, low hitting projectile. This threat can keep you opponent off the ground or crouchblocking, both of which are places Arthur can lock the opponent down in for most matchups. On the other hand, daggers gives Wright some much-needed horizontal control.

Are there any other good assists? I’m bad with Doom as it is, last place I want to play him is solo with no assists. I know everyone is worse solo, but Doom is pretty lacking on his own. Plus, random beam hypers tend to blow that assist up. I can work with Arthur on that a bit (j.S is a helluva drug) but Wright will have trouble covering it or any other assist in Trial Mode.

I run Haggar with PW and Arthur, but unless you’re content with playing Arthur on anchor then Haggar isn’t for you I’d say. A beam assist is always useful, and I can even imagine Log Trap being a good assist too. Strider works well with both of them as well and is a great/easy to use anchor. Not sure about the order though. It’s probably best to do PW on point, mostly for DHC purposes, but it should be whatever you please.

Phoenix Wright (Paperwork), Viewtiful Joe(Shocking Pink) and Dante with Jam Session of course.
Jam Session makes playing PW a whoooollllle lot easier, plus who doesn’t love Dante?

Also, Iron Fist works well on a PW team, as you can switch which mode you’re in if you hit the opponent with his crumple assist, Dragon Touch I think it’s called?!? (Totally badass, and underrated assist) Not sure if you have enough time to pick up EVIDENCE though.

*Cough * Lythero *cough *

Lythero, is that you?

Also, best assist for Wright/Fist is Iron Fist using Rising Fang. A get off me assist is much better for Wright than a combo extender (get that evidence and go).

Noopppe, not Lythero sorry. I’m a fan, but I’ve been playing this team before I even heard of him. Sometimes I’d have Ammy instead of Joe though. I only saw his vids recently when I was looking for VJ combos. :stuck_out_tongue:

@FraudZero: Makes sense, I’ve actually seen people using PW with that assist online.

Has anyone tried Wright with Viper yet? Viper gets a low assist (oh dear god) and Wright gets an OTG or an invincible CC. They DHC in and out very cleanly and Viper handles a few of the better characters for Wright.

I’m probably going to learn her so I can run Viper/Wright/Ammy. (dat Missile color palette)

I tried it. I’d honestly still be using it, but since I can only play online occasionally (sigh) there’s no point and no time. However, I personally think Viper/Wright with a good anchor works… pretty cleanly. The problem is that… one does not simply “learn” Viper. And if you run Viper/Wright, you really need to know what you’re doing with her. But if you do get her down, then yeah, Viper/Wright is okay, simply because Viper can just cleanup the opponent’s point character, and DHCs nicely into Maya super.

I’ve been trying Dorm/Wright/Doom lately. I try to play as lame as possible with this team.

Playing Wright in my second team now. Morrigan/Doom just destroys PW, and I play a Mor/Doom a lot. :frowning:
Dorm/Wright is really effective. Dorm/Wright/Dante is, IMO, the strongest team with PW.

Say, how is Ammy/Wright/Strider? I’m dead set on Wright/Ammy, and Vajra gives them both a much-needed boost.

Make it Wright/Ammy/Strider instead. Wright will then get both CStar and Vajra, plus, Wright can THC with Ammy to pick up some free evidence provided you have two meter.

I’ve been using Zero/Wright/Ammy for quite some time and it seems effective as long as you can use Zero decently.

Zero can just DHC into Maya after a LL for easy evidence and Wright/Ammy THC is all kinds of nasty. If everything else fails, you’ve still got Anchor Ammy, which isn’t bad at all.

Wouldn’t you need to burn another meter after Sougenmu finishes for the DHC? (So 3 meters total?)

Spent a little bit of time with Morri/PW/Doom the other night. Basically MorriDoom just tear shit up until you can DHC/tag in PW after a character is dead, then missiles help with gathering evidence and you can get more meter with Morrigan’s assist. You can setup and unblockable by doing Maya super on a standing opponent then DHC into Astral Vision for an easy unblockable, and from then you could TAC to Wright. You can get an easy combo to Turnabout mode with missiles starting from 3 good pieces in investigation mode by simply doing LMH F+H (while calling missiles) S MMHS, then upon landing switching stances and doing objection, and from there you can go into a combo. There’s probably much more stuff but I forgot it it was late last night lol.

I use that team, but I have Dante as the second slot for the fantastic THC.

Wanted to ask, while I probably won’t end up switching this for my Wright team, I wanted to know…

Morri/Wright/Doom is pretty effective, but what about Morri/Wright/Strider? Obv. Morri and Wright get Vajra, and Morri can still SouSouSou, but I’m not sure if the overall team is effective.

It really comes down to Morri/Strider vs Morri/Doom. Go ask in the Morrigan thread.

I totally realized something for Frank West and Wright that I can’t believe I forgot about. After the picture, do the Shopping Cart. It’ll take you closer to the corner, making the Objection easier.

What do you guys think is more important for a PW assist? Overhead for investigation/trial unblockables or low attack for turnabout unblockables?
