lol evo isnt the biggest tourney? pray tell, what is the biggest tourny then? hell, maybe all majors should b invite only. b a great way to get new people into the community
Lol at you guys still trying to argue with Emil. You canât get anything past him, and continuing to try is a waste of time.
But at least you could spend an inordinate amount of money to haul in all the Japanese Master Race Gods. Oh, what the hell, just stream some random locals from Seppuku.
No one is talking about which tournament is the largestâŚ
If people are continuously wrong, I will continuously call people out.
Honestly, saying Infiltration is the best, is a much stronger statement that is more likely to be false, than saying that there exists other players out there that are better. In any case, your idol Dieminion told you guys whatâs up.
Largest tournament doesnât mean highest level tournament. It seemed like you were commenting on what the effect would be if it was invite-only, that it would become smaller in size and not attract as much people to the fighting game scene. My argument was about the level of the play, not the size of the tourney.
If you were really saying itâs the highest level tournamentâŚthen Iâd like to see what kind of justification you would have to this, that would argue against what Iâve already said about most top international players being completely absent and not able to come, and that they lack invitations/qualifiers in those countries to be able to bring those players.
evo isnt the highest level tournament that brings out the most skilled players from around the world? wowâŚ

evo isnt the highest level tournament that brings out the most skilled players from around the world? wowâŚ
You can keep repeating this, or you can provide some kind of counterpoint that suggests that it is the most skilled tournament. Considering it is an undisputed fact that the majority of top competition is outside of the US and that this tournament takes place in the US, with very few/non-existent qualifiers in those other countries and a large majority of top players lacking a sponsor or $2000 to throw away coming to Evo, itâs pretty obvious where this is going.
well i canât think of another tournament that brings together the amount of top players like evo does. so again, pray tell, what is the highest-level tournament?
Get it to your thick head already, itâs that local in Seppuku where Yoshi, Mario-tan and TrollNo play.
DOHâŚnow y didnt i think of that?

well i canât think of another tournament that brings together the amount of top players like evo does. so again, pray tell, what is the highest-level tournament?
Itâs not the amount of playersâŚitâs about the average level of skill. Where at Evo you might have 5% at god status and then the rest of the players at good, average and below average level, at a tournament like SBO or Godsgarden, you will have almost every play at good to god status.
Lets seeâŚ
At SBO, almost every single player is on the level of Momochi, URyo, Daigo, etc. This is naturally because each spot has itâs own qualifier, and the level of play in every region is extremely high, so every qualifier spot will likely have extremely good players. The bracket for SBO might be small but the average play per person, is extremely high.
For a tournament like Godsgarden, you have a bigger bracket than SBO, but smaller than Evo. Since thereâs no qualifiers, the average level of play is lower than SBO, but since the tournament takes place in japan which has the largest concentration of top players, Godsgarden in the end, has a very large concentration of god level players.
Evo takes place in the US. We already know that the amount of top players in the US is pretty lacking compared to the rest of the world. Since the tournament is also open to anyone, you will have a ton of below average to good players, entering the tournament, with only a few top players. All the god level players outside of the US, have to either have a sponsor (which very few do) or to pay $2000+ to fly to the US. This is jsut not feasible for most of them, so they canât compete. Evo is lacking in the amount of international top players that can attend, and the average level of skill is much lower than SBO and Godsgarden, because of the fact that it takes place in the US and is an open tournament.
k now i c ur point. too bad theres no real right answer. either make majors invite only and stifle the up and comers. or make open tournies and decrease the overall level of play (although the top players shouldnt have too much trouble beating bad players)? 25th anniversary was a special event (and an event weâre not gunna c for another 5 years). i think that having a closed tourny once in a while is a good idea. btwâŚjust for gigglesâŚhow does this pertain to the topic of the thread again?
komatik whats ur point?
That the hordes of pot monsters hardly matter.
hardly matter? about what?
This is an absolutely stupid fucking debate. Theyâre all great venues of competition, who gives a fuck what the âbestâ tournament is?
idk man. all hail derailed threads

Btw this was Daigoâs bracket at Evo:
Woolie, Sebastien yang, Du ma balrog , Dr-ray , Razer.latif , Jorge Medina ,
Alexander Smith , Hsien Chang , Gamerbee , Infiltration, XiaoHai
Daigo´s opponent weren´t that stronger, compared to Infiltration, or Fuudo had until PR Rog also very easy opponents, but you can´t stop a guy from getting paid.
Anyway, this debate became really absurd, lets better stop it, but don´t see players outside of the US as free wins.
