If Daigo mained Akuma would he be the best player in the world once again?

Guile is unsalvageably boring.

So are we still talking about Daigo’s skill vs. Infiltration’s skill or are we on some silly tangent about who has more star power and what players are “boring”? This thread is confusing me.

Not when 99% of the top international talent doesn’t travel to tournaments in the US. There’s a ridiculous amount of top players that do not travel to the US tournaments, the ones that get the most viewers (especially stream monsters). As such, people are really ignorant about those other players.

Regarding Infiltration…he got an easy bracket at Evo (this is a fact if you actually look at the bracket - his strongest opponents were Daigo and Gamerbee, who were at the end of the bracket, no other Japanese players before that). Where Infiltration really made a mark was at the 25th Anniversary tournament…in the tournaments afterwards though, he didn’t have to play any world class players, and in some cases he even got randomed out.

Infiltration is really good…what surprises me is how little he has played fighting games (about 3 years total he claims) to become this good…but regardless of this, he is not the best player right now.

I think you mean Fuudo, not Tokido.

Infiltration also has a losing record against Tokido right now, despite Tokido usually losing against Daigo.

One argument that always annoys me is " oh…but daigo beats tokido, therefore akuma doesn’t have an advantage in this matchup and clearly infiltration is just better." So, it would follow that since Tokido beats Infiltration, who beats Daigo , surely Tokido should be the world champion?
Herp Derp lets ignore all other factors herp durrrp. DURP!

We need to see Infiltration in the topanga A league with a big prizepool!!! I want to see how he matches up against the top players in long sets. I want to see him up against the likes of Sako, uryo and haitani . We’ve already seen him get infiltrated by kazunoko…

I dont think he would win every major again but then again I’am not daigo I know he used akuma in the alpha days lol

Infiltration is above all the top japanese players lets not kid ourselves just watching his play its like he is on a completely different level.

Tell that to Tokido.

Or Kazunoko
Or any of the others he does not play regularly/at all.

Hey. You forgot about Sako, Haitani, Kazunoko and the others.

My opinion on Infiltration is in line with what Dieminion says here (around 7:49 ish):

…I am shocked that this hasn’t got a response yet.

Apparently mash sweep.

Dat sweep

That… Sweep… Something special bout it…

I disagree Infiltration smashes ALL players only reason he lost to that one black dude (sorry I already forgot his name lol) was because cammy is op. He bodied him when they rematched.

Let’s not also forget that Xian did 3-0 him in one of the brackets today. I don’t think Infiltration is invincible, though he is arguably best in the world. Fundamentals wise, he is too gdk.
I’d like to see him play against Akuma’s bad match ups (Cammy, Yun … etc).

A dream match I’d like to see would be Xiao Hai or ACQUA (Cammy) versus Infiltration (Akuma).
(Xiao Hai having the insane fighting game fundamentals and reactions while ACQUA is just flat out amazing with Cammy and her character specific stuff).

On another note, I think Xiao Hai is potentially one of the strongest SF players in the world. The dude goes to Evo for the first time and lands a top 8 finish. Not to mention there was this one tournament where he beat Mago and other japanese players back in AE. He does go top tier but he’s quite strong nonetheless.

You’ll see how strong Xiaohai really is when you see the Topanga League results this weekend.

Chris Hu linked me a video of Xiaohai playing at acho and beating their top Sagat pretty easily.

Infiltration is quite obviously the best player in the world right now, to argue otherwise is just silly. He has actually redefined what it means and what it takes to be the best. His knowledge, training, footsies, zoning, execution, reads and resolve are as good as anybody’s. While others may be as good in certain areas as him, nobody puts it all together like he does.

No actually it is pretty silly to think he is the best, considering almost none of the top players can come out to these tournaments to beat him. Most of the top JP players have this knowledge, training, execution and reads (and better). As for footsies and zoning, it depends on which characters they are using as some benefit more/less from them.

If anything, Infiltration has been looking a bit shaky when it comes to his decision making in some of these matches. I’d say Xian outplayed him for most of the matches, but critical dropped combos prevented him from taking it.

Skill-wise, I consider the following players to be on the level or better than Infiltration: Momochi(better), Daigo(not sure, I think he is falling off and his character doesn’t help), URyo(better), Kazunoko(better), Tokido(roughly equal…it’s hard to say…if his skill wasn’t divided among so many games, he’d be probably better), Ojisanboy(better, this guy is truly godlike), Kindevu(roughly equal, maybe better…he changes characters too often), Fuudo(better), Dogura(probably better), Eita(equal or better…I think people are forgetting this guy exists for some reason, good thing he came out to Stunfest and blew everyone up), Xian(equal, maybe better), Bonchan(equal…it’s questionable to use the counterpick Gouken matchup as a basis for who is better in this one, I’d rather use the one in the team tourney where they both used their mains), Sako(better, no question), etc

What a lot of people in the list have that Infiltration doesn’t, is EXPERIENCE. Infiltration has only played fighters for 3 years (according to him). It’s amazing what he has done in that short amount of time, but he is still inexperienced and I don’t think he can keep up, mentally, with most of the players I listed…it’s probably why he has to counterpick his matches so much.

"Ojisanboy(better, this guy is truly godlike)"
You mean the guy who went 1-11 in the Topanga B league?
