i left ken out for ryu but i guess you cant do that nowadays…
i dont know why exactly you’re mad about karin but no sakura or alex but no hugo. these chars belong together storywise maybe but hugo would hate a ssf4 type of game without a focus and i avoided sakura because of her shotostyle like i posted above.
I left Abel out because people were complaining about him in the beginning, that he really resembles alex in his gameplay. C. Viper is ok i guess, different enough this mother… ^^ and why the hate on birdie? i think a lot of people would enjoy a remake of him
maybe even put gen in there. I just dont want another sf title with like 20 shotos which only differ in 1-2 moves, a little frame data and the fadc-ability of their shoryuken.
as i said this is just an idea and i wanted to keep the roster small while adding the characters i heard most wishes about (karin, birdie, oro, charlie, elena)

yeah but 3rd Strike didnt really came out as the glory it was probably planned… at least not in the whole community, mainly because of the lack of the old characters and of course… the learning curve for parry
I would like to see completely new characters but capcom just convinced me recently that they dont want to add really NEW stuff… or at least dont have many more ideas left for new characters… newest fighters are: Juri (really good one), Hakan (well, here they already screwed up… even though i like him), dont know if you want to count Kuro and Toro in there, these seem more like Dan-type of characters… yeah well and that’s it …
no really new stuff since SuperSF4 came out. I would prefer completely new chars with interesting gameplay over “old” ones … dont get me wrong, i love the old characters but i dont thing the community does… out of the original roster only Ryu and Ken are really played often, you rarely see a blanka, zangief or dhalsim online. Sometimes a guile pops up but that’s it Capcom needs to make new characters interesting again.
For me, i would like to see Gotetsu as a playable char… like the counterpart of Oni or the advanced version of Gouken… I know he would be hell of a lot older but meh… Gen also is still rocking ^^

I don’t even care what capcom comes up with, because I know whatever they develop, im going to end up playing anyway. What i do care about is online netcode, just fucking fix that and i will be so happy. Hell if they just fix SF4AE2012 netcode and rename it street fighter 5 : online playable edition i will be SO god damn jovial.

the thread i posted is about what could be added to the CURRENT game while i try to figure out what kind of game would be good as the NEXT sf title …
also i didnt intended to make a wishlist, i wanted to hear statements about my idea and wanted you to think about how you would create a game.
I didnt wanted you people to write 1-line which says: "better netcode, add char xyz, less blockstun, etc."
I wanted you to think about the whole concept, from mechanics, to graphics to roste.
So far anybody hangs up on the roster, well if you dont like it that way post another list and go on.
Mechanics? Any Idea? You want parry back? You want to keep Focus? A whole new system?
Graphics / Engine? 3D Tekken style? back to the roots and do SSF2T HD graphics?
well i guess no one is interested in thinking about this stuff before, just let do capcom do everything and complain afterwards i guess ^^
Storyline:
- Make it take place 1 - 2 years after 3rd Strike. No need to make it 15 years later like some people have in mind. Example of this concept: Ryu is still training with Oro for the game vs OMG Ryu is old and already mastered Oro-Gouken hybrid style. No need to have Ryu as the ultra boss of the game. Save that for like a Street Fighter 7.
Moves:
- Take this as a challenge Capcom. Give each character 1 new move that they’ve never had before. But have it make sense with who the characters are and their play style.
Art style:
- I don’t know what the hell Ikeno was trying to do, but bringing back the SF2 / SF3 japanese art where they didn’t look so deformed. Also that isn’t talking about “buffness.” They were always buff. But in SF4 they were deformed.
- Make their models similar to the SF4 CG trailers / SFxT CG trailers. If it’s next generation, do it! We’ve seen the SF4 models for at least 3 years now.
Other:
- CG Endings are a must. It just shows more work effort than voice acting over storyboards.
- Add a new mechanic that hasn’t been used in any SF game before.
- Can we get a SF2 Animated Movie style anime to go with it? SF4’s anime looked so flat.
Why does it have to have a random assortment of characters from each game? Give them all an equal number.
All 8 characters from the original SF2, and after that put in 8 characters from every other game (counting Super Turbo as a “separate game” where you could play as the four bosses and four newcomers).
Or, better yet, just put in every SF character. Ever.

this doesnt work… if you want equal numbers more like 5 of every game + new characters or 6 of every game and cut the new characters.
SF4 sub-series was godawful, SFXT is so terrible it’s virtually unplayable.
I am not the least bit hopeful for SF5.

I said I’m counting Super Turbo as a separate game where all the bosses and New Challengers were playable. So I lump the SF2 bosses in the same category with the Turbo newcomers.
Oro and Remy? Are you nuts? Why would you put those losers in over Elena and Alex?
There’s no such thing as “too many characters”. Stick as many in as you can, to hell with balance. Worrying about balance is what caused the atrocity called SF4.

Oo i took sakura out of sf4 because i already had 8 characters from alpha … that’s why i wrote “Sakura” <- for the sake of having her in the game. .Oo read properly please… i know sakura is from alpha, no need to get rude… chill man.
And AGAIN … i mostly oriented by peoples choice right now and most of the people dont want 100 characters in a game because you cant or dont want to learn so many matchups …

well you kinda need a synergy going and yes there is a story in street fighter.so you should be more mindful of a cast and their backstory as supposed to just picking randoms cause once again.thats mugen

Would make a total of 40 characters… one more than the current roster… but you could cut off some of the new chars or make it 5x alpha and 5x 3rd strike or whatever if you want to keep the roster smaller
*New Characters
1 Character with traditional karate (close range, combo heavy, no fireballs, good poking game, “meh” reversals, mixup heavy game)
1 Character with capoeira style (like SFxT Christie with stances / specialmoves with followups, poke and zone heavy game)
1 Character with Judo style (close range, can combo into special grabs like abel with cr.hp-falling sky, just with ground moves, knock down heavy game)
1 Character with outboxing type of game (Balrog is the brutal boxer, dudley is the infight boxer, new one would be the outside boxer, would be a flicker kind of game, midrange combo ability… would feel like a dhalsim with halfed limbs that can combo)
i read alex and yun, then instantly agreed
they got to have more than 9 new characters in SFV. sorry, but they gotta bring back the tradition of making the cast completely new. Age must show in SFV, like for example and older Fei-Long or Sakura(generic request). Other characters from final fight, Slam Masters, and/or Rival Schools got to make the cut
